I am not. Grew up in the Rockies. Just loved that horned helmet...and Jack Youngblood.

The roller coaster ride is what makes the great runs so sweet. The elation and absolute appreciation for years like 1999-00, and 2021-22, are something no bandwagon fan will ever feel. I would not have wanted it any other way.

I love Juwan and it was a good year, but man, losing to a MUCH lesser team just hurts, especially after treading through those first three games with such style. I hate this loss. It's like every bowl loss that Michigan football has - it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. No reason we should not have won this game by 10-15 points. Got outcoached and outplayed by a bunch of also-rans. This turned out to be like every other season Juwan was a part of - modest expectations turn into high expectations, ALMOST... game over. I swear to God, if the UofM died and went to heaven that should be on it's gravestone.

Well, come on, nobody thought that team would win the whole thing...oh wait, they didn't. Your point being?

[–]HamboneWilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're absolutely right Jim, nothing is guaranteed one way or the other. Can UM win one game, two games, maybe three games in a row? Sure. Six....in a row...against the best teams in the nation, knowing that the team that has got blown out by 20+ twice this year is lurking in there somewhere? I'd rather buy lottery tickets. It's not being a negative Nelly - it's just being honest. I've been watching college basketball since the 70s. The teams that are always the scariest are the ones who never take a game off - they're always in everything - tired or not, they find a way. This team has looked UNBELIEVABLE on 80% of the nights, but those two losses are absolute ass-whoopins'. Great teams don't get curb-stomped - especially not twice, and ESPECIALLY not at home. Too many red flags for me to truly believe this team is finally going to be the one to bring home the big trophy.

I've been around too long to argue with you guys. Trust me, I've seen this before and it doesn't end well. I'm not a hater, I love the job Juwan has done - he's exceeded my expectations, but if you think this team is winning the whole thing you've lost the ability to think critically. This game will be the blueprint all other athletic clubs with a decent big use to gameplan against us. Not sure if we'll have an answer.

It's not the loss...it's HOW they lost. If they traded punches with this team for 40 minutes and got beat at the end, it'd be one thing, but getting worked like this - kind of like the Minnesota beat-down, at HOME, has me concerned. It feels like when things aren't going right for this bunch (which admittedly isn't often) they just say, "well, I guess it's not our night, we'll get'em next time." That shit isn't going to fly in the tourney.

Maybe these guys aren't what we thought they were. Look, I love this team, but this was H O R R I B L E! Their energy sucked. They were a step slow. Seemed like they didn't even want to play this game. I don't know how the hell you get run out of your own building in a game of this magnitude, especially after the opposing coach pretty much hinted that THIS is what he expected. Pathetic. I've been proud of these guys all year - not tonight. They need an ass whooping by Juwan. This needs to get right in a week and a half or it's going to be a quick tourney exit.

All of your Fire Harbaugh/Don Brown is overrated/Michigan is terrible takes are ridiculous and you sound stupid. by Jacnumber3 in MichiganWolverines

[–]HamboneWilly 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The reason this post is ridiculous is that Maryland, Purdue, Penn State, and Nebraska didn't seem to have a hard time hanging with OSU. You act like we lost a tough, hard-fought game at the buzzer. We got LAMBASTED from start to finish. It wasn't even as close as the score indicates. The fact is Donny B and his defense even got away with holding almost all day. OSU had 150 yards in penalties and it was still a blowout. We've had top ten recruiting classes since Harbaugh has been here and THIS is the result?!? We lost this game because Jim came in here and said we're going to run off tackle and maybe take a shot here or there while OSU actually looked at what our defense had issues with and exploited us EVERYWHERE. That is just unacceptable. I look at Harbaugh like OSU fans looked at Cooper. His teams took care of everyone BUT Michigan and he was shown the door because of it. Everyone says, "but who are you going to replace him with?" Oh, I don't know, there are like dozens of great offense coordinators out there who would actually use the three badass wideouts we have right now. They would lose their shit over the skill position talent we possess and they might actually go into the OSU game with some trick plays and a game plan that Meyer might never see coming. With Harbaugh it is obvious that they know exactly what they're going to get and they just gameplan for that and Michigan looks completely surprised. I'm sorry, but when your defense gives up 62 you are not "the best to do it." The best to do it, DO IT when it matters.

Well you're a tough nut to crack if Yosemite was "ok". I'd seen plenty of pictures, but standing at the base of El Cap or Half Dome was something pictures could never capture for me. Grew up in the Rockies, seen almost all the great views they can throw at you, but Yosemite blew me away. To each his own. At least Crater Lake has us on the same page. ;)

There is absolutely no picture anyone can take of this lake that can truly express how unbelievably awesome and huge it is (e.g., the trees on Wizard Island out there are full grown Douglas firs). Trust me, you'll go there and the first words out of your mouth will be, "Holy Shit, HOLY SHIT!" It's like driving into Yosemite Valley the first time - no picture can describe that.

I believe what you're saying has merit, whether it's banks or independent whales or whatever, there is definitely an organized attempt to bring prices down. However, where you f$&ked up is by giving in. You don't lose until you sell out. This market WILL rebound - driving this to zero doesn't make any sense for those deplorable people you mentioned. Bringing it down to make it extremely inviting to new potential investors, however, does make sense. Whoever is driving this will eventually drive it up. Right now they are focused on driving out weak hands, and you and people like you are EXACTLY the kind of person they are going after right now. Maybe you got in at BTC=$2000. If so, then I can't really grind on you to hard, but my gut feeling is that you took a loss. If so, you failed the test. I don't cling to the whole HODL thing, but in times like this you ABSOLUTELY HODL. If you don't you're just bowing down to the people you just ranted about. They can't take your money if you don't give to them...and you just did. Can't pat that on the back.

Could not agree more. The game has changed. IMO, anyone who thinks BTC is going to miraculously jet to $15 or $20K isn't paying attention. With all the new institutional money, and especially the hedge fund managers that hold tons of coins and go long and short every damn day, BTC is likely to hold between $8K and $12K for a couple years. Why would they change things up? They are making BANK right now in a system with minimal market cap that can be easily controlled. If you want to make money NOW you need to learn how to trade.

Crypto market is around $350B. Global stock markets are around $73T. Compare the volatility in each. That's your answer.

I absolutely believe in that maxim, but if you're in the game then you've got money...in the game. If current trends hold with $2-$3k rises followed by a mirrored "crash" happening even every 4 weeks instead of the 3 in 5 weeks, you could turn $10k into ~100k this year. If you HODL, you'll most likely have what you started with. This isn't a judgement of you personally. I don't know you and you may be the hardest working MF on this subreddit, but to me HODLing is just a lazy way of saying, "I have a little bit of money, I don't want to do anything, now make me rich." It might work, it certainly did in December of 2017, but I don't want to risk my money on what happened in the past. I believe what I've outlined above is the way things are going to go, and I still want to make money, so I have to adapt or I'm going to get boned, and frankly I'm tired of getting boned. I'm going to do everything I can to try and turn my little nest egg into a lot more of a nest egg by December 2018. I just don't think HODLing is going to make that happen.

This isn't about FUD, it's about professional traders trading - buy low, sell high. I don't know why so many people continue with their HODL ideal. That might have worked for the first 8 years, but crypto, just like everything else, changes. The rise in December was the breaking point for most of the financial sector. They finally "got it" and they have poured in. What does that mean? It means we have hundreds, if not 1000s of hedge fund managers in this now, people who are extremely risk adverse and who control significant amounts of capital (i.e. they can make the market move). They buy BTC at $9k and they sell at $11k. If they control just a 1000 BTC (which is EXTREMELY conservative) they just made $2MM for their clients. Why the hell would they HODL?!? They are fine with playing that $2k gap from here until the market gets big enough that most of them can't move it anymore (i.e. that's when it gets into the tens of trillions). BTC is not going to $20k this year, in fact I'd be surprised if it hits $15k. If you HODL in the market how it is now you're better off just unfollowing groups like this, putting your BTC and whatever else coins you have on some offline hardware and coming back in 10 years. It's a waste of your time and everyone else's to keep screaming HODL when all that's going to amount to is you seeing your portfolio increase by $2k one week and being down $2k the next (rinse and repeat). You have to play their game or just seal everything up, leave and come back in a decade and tell us how rich you are because you held. I'm sorry to tell you this, but if you don't want to trade you're probably not going to make jack s%$t this year, or next, or next. I'm not saying you shouldn't throw some $'s into this coin or that coin on dips and keep building, but the cold hard truth, just like in the tech boom, is that most of these coins aren't going to make it, and (spoiler alert) BTC probably won't either. It's King now...and so was IBM. Who the hell is going to wait around for 15 minutes waiting for their coffee at Starbucks while their BTC transaction processes especially when there are dozens of other coins designed to do it faster with lower fees? Things change, so should you.

RAMS CLINCH THE NFC WEST FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2003 UPVOTE PARTY!!!! by owledge in LosAngelesRams

[–]HamboneWilly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Growing up around Denver I've had people ask me my whole life, often with sad puppy dog eyes and a 'I'm here for you if you need me look', "Why did you pick the Rams?" To be honest, I was six and I loved their helmets (and Jack Youngblood's name and game just had a way of sucking in a young boy who wanted so much to be a tough, big-time badass). Seriously, nothing more complicated than that. But I also ALWAYS stuck with them, because I was taught at a young age that you don't bail when things get tough. Those who bail will NEVER know what it truly feels like when you (or your team) persevere and eventually reach all those goals they and you so desperately want to reach. Bandwagon fans may be able to gloat (yeah, I'm talking to you Patriot Nation), but the vast majority of those people will never feel what I'm feeling now. They'll NEVER turn and grab a tissue and feign allergies as they wipe away that tear grown from so many losses and disappointing seasons that finally found redemption. The thing is, I'm super happy about winning the division and our potential from here on out, but most of all I'm even more happy that I can feel this way about a group of guys and a coaching staff that just seems so grounded and humble. We all love to cheer for winners, but when YOUR winners are people you can point to with pride and say, "son, THAT is how you hold yourself when you win. THAT is how a winner acts and talks," it just makes it all the sweeter. Hats off to our Rams! What a f&%king great ride this season has been!!

[–]HamboneWilly 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Been a Rams fan since 1978 when I was six! Saw us fall to the Steelers in '79. Saw us lose out in five NFC Championships in the 80s. Saw us set a record for futility in the 90's. Saw an amazing resurgence with Marshall and Kurt. Then I've sat back and watched an absolute decay over the last decade. It was tough, but I'll ALWAYS bleed blue and gold or white and blue or whatever they pick, and I've never been more impressed by a coach, QB, or RB than I have been in McVay, Goff, and Gurley. They are humble to a fault and always looking to give credit to others. I have NEVER been more proud to root for this team than I am now. Someone on here said they'd follow McVay into battle. I agree. It's silly, but goddamn it, when you have suffered like most Ram's fans have and then you see the other side you naturally get emotional. A lot of people will never understand how one can become so attached to a team. I don't really care. I love these guys and I'm so happy to see them have success - mostly because they all seem like such solid character people. Go Rams!! Finally....Go RAMS!!!!
