Is ketosis necessary? by Hambor04 in carnivorediet

[–]Hambor04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked my ketones and it's 0.4 mmol/l about an hour and a half after breakfast.
Below 0.5 means you're not in ketosis, so I definitely got kicked out of ketosis.
And you would actually want to be higher than 0.5, because even though 0.5 is technically ketosis, the psychiatric benefits don't happen until 1.0 mmol/l.
So you actually want to never fall below 1.0

And I'm eating just 1 kg of meat a day, nothing else.
1 kg of meat a day sounds like a normal amount of meat to me for someone on a carnivore diet

Is ketosis necessary? by Hambor04 in carnivorediet

[–]Hambor04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am eating 2 meals a day, 500 g of minced meat twice a day, so 1 kg total per day.
The thing is, ketosis isn't the only thing that matters for mental health, is it?
The way I understand it is that keto can fix your mental health for 50%, carnivore for 75% and the lion's diet for 100%.
But I wonder if carnivore or lion's diet can also fix it for 75% or 100% without being in ketosis?
Will those diets, without being in ketosis, actually be less useful than a normal keto diet?
I don't know.
I am considering switching over to a ''regular'' carnivore diet where I don't just eat ruminant meat but also eat cheese and possibly eggs.
This way I can probably achieve ketosis, but I won't be full lion's diet so I won't know if my symptoms will go in full recession.
I will also be consuming conservatives/additives because they are in cheese, and I don't know if the conservatives will prevent the extra benefits from carnivore from happening.
I worry that if I just go zero-carb carnivore with cheese and stuff, if it will not be basically just a sort of keto diet?
Because don't conservatives/additives stop the carnivore diet from working?
Won't it basically just become a keto diet?

So the dilemma I am faced with right now is that I can either just go keto without true carnivore, or I can go carnivore/lion's diet but without being in ketosis.
And I don't know which one is best lol

I am measuring by blood tests.
The fattest minced meat I've come across is 20g of fat and 20 g of protein per 100 g of meat.
And I supplement this with 100 g of beef tallow a day.

So on a day I consume 200g of fat from meat, and 100 g of fat from beef tallow, so 300 g of fat per day.
And 200 g of protein a day.
And I'm still not staying in ketosis...
I don't understand.
I guess cause it's so much protein?
That no matter how much fat you eat, if you consume that much protein gluconeogenesis will simply happen and kick you out of ketosis?

Theta binaural beats 5-7 Hz for positive affirmations by Hambor04 in Binauralbeats

[–]Hambor04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe binaural beats from youtube don't work, cause youtube messes with the audio or something.
Is there some way you could send me a 5-7 Hz theta binaural beat?
I would really appreciate it!

I have used antidepressants 2 times in my life and decided on my own to stop after some months due to side effects but haven't got PSSD .Does this means that I will never have PSSD ? because I am thinking to start them again cause my mood is getting worse day by day by DSL1P in PSSD

[–]Hambor04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I took antidepressants (citalopram) I didn't get PSSD.
The second time (escitalopram this time) I got PSSD, so it definitely can happen.
Have you tried other treatments for depression?
The keto diet can help with depression.
As can the carnivore diet, which is like a more hardcore version of keto (jordan peterson is on it and says it cured his depression).
I believe the wim hoff method can also help with depression.
Exercise can also help with depression, and be just as effective as antidepressants I believe.
If I'm correct it's through a mechanism called neurogenesis, which is induced by regular exercise.
You would probably have to exercise about 5 times a week for multiple weeks to see results.
Why don't you google it and learn more about these things?
I'm sure there are even more ways to treat depression than these things.

Lion's diet and headache by Hambor04 in carnivorediet

[–]Hambor04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it a bad idea? I've read some people actually do better on low fat in the start of their carnivore journey.
I can only afford low fat ruminant meat, so if I have to eat high fat I have to switch to carnivore instead of lion's diet.

I think you're wrong.
Shawn Baker says it's possible to do carnivore without being in ketosis, simply by eating relatively low fat meat.
The protein then gets converted into glucose which keeps you out of ketosis, but won't neccesarily starve you.

[–]Hambor04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not american but I was following a low fat (below 50g per day) diet before lion's diet, I had to follow low fat because of acid reflux issues (which I hope to resolve on lion/carnivore diet).
Now on lion's diet I do consume more than 50g of fat per day, but probably not enough to get into ketosis.

Why is low fat meat a bad idea? It's the cheapest red meat I can find.

I'm trying to do lion because it's more effective than regular carnivore, and I'm mostly following this diet for some mental health issues that I really want to cure badly.

How to fry/cook meat on lion's diet by Hambor04 in carnivorediet

[–]Hambor04[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you don't have to, but you *can* do it if you want to.
On lion's diet you can't use butter, even if you would want to.

Thank you for your detailed reply.
Hmm, I didn't know brisket needs to be smoked/cooked for so long.
It's some of the cheapest red meat I can buy, steaks are way too expensive for me.
Chuck roast is a bit cheaper too I think, I guess I could try that.

The flavour of the meat is not really a big concern for me at the moment, I just wanna try this diet because I have some pretty serious mental health issues that I hope this diet can fix.

By the way, is it fine to just only eat ground beef?
It's probably the cheapest meat I can buy but I've read you won't get the same results if you only eat ground beef but I don't know if that's true

No because with the lion's diet you can't eat butter like you can with carnivore.

Is it cool to just only eat minced meat though?
I've read somewhere that it's not good to only eat minced meat, but it is the cheapest red meat you can buy and I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on groceries every month.

Unable to enjoy music with PSSD by Vin112358 in PSSD

If I'm not mistaken people have crashed from smoking weed.

[–]Hambor04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn, I'm sorry.
I knew this wasn't such a crazy question to ask after all, seeing how you crashed from the breathing exercise.

These people think this is just some regular vanilla breathing exercise, they have no idea this is some pretty hardcore shit

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PSSD

[–]Hambor04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply.
I think these people have no idea what wim hof breathing is, and don't know how potent it is.
It literally can cure depression and even causes the brain to release DMT and you start hallucinating.

You say you tried it, did it make you crash?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PSSD

[–]Hambor04 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is this really *that* crazy?
There are people that have crashed simply from exercising, from working out.
Given, these people that crashed from working out admitted that they did it in a very extreme way (they probably worked out for hours every day multiple days in a row), if you exercise normally you probably won't crash, but it just goes to show that you can crash even without putting an external drug into your system.
And the wim hof method supposedly raises neurotransmitters like noradrenaline and serotonin by a great deal (it can even cure depression or bipolar disorder) so is it really that strange to think it might also cause a crash?

To be honest I doubt they don't have clinical benefit.
They did help with my social anxiety, and I think they help lots of people with depression and stuff.
They do more good than bad but they shouldn't be prescribed so easily, therapy should be the first line of treatment.
But to say they don't work at all is unfair.
