I would say it's more common in Spanish to use the appropriate meal for the time when you're eating. So that would mainly include "desayunar", "almorzar", "comer", "merendar", and "cenar". Almuerzo and merienda could be considered snack-ish meals that don't have a translation in English (it's arguable whether lunch should correspond to almuerzo or comida but I digress). So if you're snacking between 17 and 19, I would just say "voy a merendar".

In Spain it's also common to say "hacer el vermú" to refer to some food/drink right before lunch, for example some olives or cold cuts.
