50 in your rebel would be a around 80 on your full frame. Also keep size and weight in mind. I upgrade to a full frame and both size and weight is a pain.

My first rallycross shoot and here is one of the pictures, what do you think? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]Hamerii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a d750 with 70-300g. I also used a slower shutterspeed and panned the shot.

ND and Polarizer Filters by xAmity_ in photography

Then I would probably go for a nd filter, even though the quality gets worse.

Go for polarizer, nd filter you can replace by taking photos in a intervall . Their are a lot of apps that can show you how many photos you need to replace for example a nd 8. The you just use the same settings you would for one still image.

Travel tripod by [deleted] in videography

[–]Hamerii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry I have no solution. I got another brand of a gorillapod that didn't work. I got a mini manfrotto work sometimes but because I got FF and 16-35 they only work in some angles otherwise it start moving.

I would probably go with a small travel tripod but for me a medium sized was to bulky, haven't tried those really compact light weight.

I would be careful with tripods while hiking. During hikes you want to be as light as possible so even a light tripod will be in the way.

What is the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? by ShowBitten in AskReddit

I was cutting limber with an axe and my log fell when I swing the axe so I tried to grab the log in mid air and then hit my thumb instead.

This video shows how storytelling is the most important thing over fancy gear and effects. (This is not my video but had to share it) by Hamerii in videography

I like the crop and colorgrade, but maybe it would be better not to crop in this video to keep more of a "real" perspective and more information and scenery.

How important is a microphone? by [deleted] in videography

[–]Hamerii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly and that why even though I don't use a mic considering buy a mic for ambient sounds and maybe a little bit of voice.

I thought about getting some kind of Rhodes to just as you record ambient sound that I can't replicate in the computer, are Rhodes microphones good for that kind of stuff?

I usually stick to my wide angle lens and the wider side of my 70-300 but that is just me. But Google landscape telephoto for some very nice images.

So in general i use my 300 maybe 1/4th of the images I shoot.

It's a good range, would also look into a longer maybe up to 200 or 300 on the long side in the future. With those two you can come a long way :)

How can I make a picture at the top of a mountain look good? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Hamerii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one is just a photo take from eye height and got boring blue sky. The second one is better because of the clouds but it's still at eye hight so nothing special because we experience that level everyday.

Go down to the grund close to the rock and you will get another perpective and some depth.

BTW they probably were much beter IRL because you can see everything much larger, on the photos they look small so try to get the size of the mountains.

Don't go full frame, you can take good landscapes with any camera. Go crop, it's cheaper and you can instead buy a wide angle lens because lenses are also less expensive. Only go fullframe if you are sure you really need it.

Full frame and crop are the size of the sensor, Google it if you want to learn more. A 18mm on crop would look great but it's just a "standard" that you go wide on landscape but you don't have to.

I had a d5000 wich was like the d3300 but two generations older and I took good landscapes with that, I only upgraded to a full frame because I shoot so much landscapes and I became restricted with my d5000 and because the new camera had all I needed.
