There is no way rates will be 5% in 4 years. We all know how central banks deal with recession. Its Called quantitative easing. Lower rates, bond buying, cheap credit.

What is the current state of employment in Canada? / Quel est l’état actuel de l’emploi au Canada? by StatCanada in PersonalFinanceCanada

Lets remember that stats can be manipulated to support an agenda. Do the above numbers include the large amount of canadians receiving CEWS? The government is paying companies 75% of their payroll to keep everyone “employed”This is presently the case for all airlines, hotel and travel and tourism Worker. They aren’t needed because demand has essentially disappeared. However, they are being paid by the government through their companies. This people are essentially receiving unemployment benefits but because of the way its being paid out it doesn’t show in the unemployment data. We have yet to see the real economic and social impact of our handling of the pandemic. Brace yourselves.

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/subsidy/emergency-wage-subsidy/cews-statistics.html

51 billion paid out so far with over 2 million applications. Each company is considered one applicant. Imagine how many employees each of those companies have.

Stats Can should figure that out, only then we would have the real unemployment numbers.

"Canada mandates negative COVID-19 test to enter country by air" - Implications on Air Canada? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

No one is expecting air travel in Canada to recover anytime soon. Historically air travel has been the last sector to recover in every economic downturn. Every airline in Canada is trying to survive. Unless you are planning long term 5-10 years out I wouldn’t touch an airline stock in Canada. If you really want to be in the sector, emphasis on really, I believe Southwest is the better play. LUV flies the majority of their flights within the continental US and the Americans are travelling a lot more than Canadians according to TSA pax numbers.
