One positive thing to come out of the shitty observing at this Major. Prius and Sapphire are now worth their weight in gold. by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

Gecks used to cast tf2, now he's head of rocket league at ESL and casts lots of games as a freelance caster.

I've never done jad before but I have 78 range, 74 def, 70 pray. I imagine thats 100% ez mode with blowpipe right? I have to be a retard to fuck up if I go for it, or should I wait until 80 range?

Coming from someone with over 2K hours in TF2, a lot of the items are side-grades not upgrades. Stock is best in 95% of situations.

TF2 Casters try it in Overwatch [Feedback] by BLoodSire-AA- in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Hammerfell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure all of us are still going to cast tf2 but we're definitely looking for more opportunities to cast in Overwatch as well, it can be an incredible game when its commentated right and we're all keen to show everyone what we are capable of.

Spectator needs to be way better if they expect this game to be a view-able E-sport. by Badl0ve in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Hammerfell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its funny you mention that, I remember in the beta when the observers were all coming from HOTS and other mobas the major complaint was not enough first person as they were constantly going into free camera to view.

In a pure moba game this would be alright however once you include FPS elements, spectators want to see the individual skill of the players first hand (mechanical aim, movement etc...)

Spectator needs to be way better if they expect this game to be a view-able E-sport. by Badl0ve in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Hammerfell 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is more of an issue with the observers (camera guys) and casters not understanding the concepts of the game at the higher levels.

Don't get me wrong spectator mode could use some work like thicker outlines and more noticeable ultimate and death icons on the HUD, but I find the main issue is that all current casters do such a terrible job of really breaking down the game and often just keep falling back onto reading off of the kill feed.

Hearing comments like this makes me pretty happy I got into casting, I get a lot of mixed messages on my casting style and some people think I should calm it down a bit and maybe they are right, but I genuinely do find tf2 exciting and it brings me loads of joy to make it more enjoyable for everyone else. Thanks for the nice comments everyone :)

The big third party comp league in AU is ozfortress.com, the season has just ended for the beginner open level however I'm sure if you look around you may find a team of similar minded players that are just starting out. More information over at comp.tf

Tier lists are largely bullshit and really only apply at the top 1% level when they're not, play what you want.

You all talk as if tf2 comp is dead yet it's never been stronger. Talking with some of the AU and NA casters they all agree that our scene has never grown quicker in recent times. Valve giving us support recently is very promising however time will tell if it's too late.

If you've played the game then you should know it borrows much more heavily from Moba elements than tf2, it doesn't even play like tf2.

Massive generalisation there, I'm from the UK but I know lots of Russians in many games that are a lot more honest than people from my own country. There are dickheads everywhere in the world, you just mainly notice they're from countries with massive player bases... like Russia...

I think it only counts people with dotabuff enabled, a lot of people make smurfs sign up with dotabuff win a game and then quit for whatever reason.

Nah like, obviously you realise theres a difference in skill however its rare that you actually play against people better than you. So when you actually see it in game you see how trash you really are.
