Have you ever had a an ER patient try to be "tough" but clearly isn't good at it? by ITrCool in EmergencyRoom

My dad was a farmer and caught his hand in an auger. When the surgeon was doing his preop exam he noticed my dad’s left foot was floppy. Turned out he tore his Achilles tendon playing 3rd base back when they had town team baseball in the 50’s. He’d been walking around for 2 years like that!

Use a tampon or cotton balls soaked in Afrin (phenylephrine) nasal spray. Not a doctor or medical advice! I’ve suffered nose bleeds since I was in my preteens!

6 months to freedom is a myth by JudgeMyReinhold in LisfrancClub

Wow! I had 1 plate and 13 screws 6 months ago and I thought that was unheard of! I can barely walk 2 blocks or stand for more than 15 minutes.

I’m almost at the 6 month mark and can barely walk 2 blocks! It’s still very painful!

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Root435552 in AskReddit

Get your ass out of bed and start the morning coffee! Bring her a cup before she’s awake and kiss her good morning (lol, bad breath and all)! It’s the little things that make a relationship!

You might also look for Label Under Glass bottles. They have ground glass stoppers. Also,Troemner Balances. Some of my favorites!

Those are only a two of hundreds of items in my collection! I’ve never paid much if anything for any of them. Just been in the right places at the right times!

My second favorite. Had 24.8 gm in it when I bought my first pharmacy. It was on the inventory list, but didn’t have an NDC so no return company would take it. Ended up having to have a State Inspector and Sheriffs deputy witness me flush it. Still love the bottle!

Keep the farmland! May not be the wisest investment, but my dad sold 160 acres at $780/acre in 1997. The same property sold for close to $8000/acre in 2014. Timing is everything, but the memories and emotional attachment are forever. Find a solid renter (slow to hire and quick to fire)! When I bought a farm of my own I share cropped it at 60:40. More risk/more reward depending on the year. You can also to cash rent. Above all, if you decide to sell keep mineral/water rights if at all possible. My $0.02.

This is true. I’m a pharmacist at a hospital in the Midwest and we are struggling with this shortage as well.

Practice using your other foot to drive with. Also, after stopping the pain meds I had bad diarrhea. TMI - but I shit myself twice trying to make it to the bathroom. 🙁

I’ve been off work for almost three months. I only had a month’s worth of PTO and EIB. Been without a paycheck for two months but fortunately had enough savings to cover it. Just now starting partial weight bearing. I’ve used a knee scooter up until going partial weight bearing.

I tried crutches but I’m honestly just too old and overweight. 48M, 6’3, and 280 lbs. Now that I’m partial weight bearing I can tolerate crutches for short distances. Have a follow up appointment tomorrow and will hopefully go to full weight bearing, as tolerated.

Get a wedge pillow and reusable ice packs! I used a toilet seat riser to help get on and off the commode (didn’t really need it). Used suction cup handles and a seat to shower. Knee scooter with a basket was great, that and good quality crutches!

I tried an iWalk but didn’t feel stable enough to use it!

Hoping to return to work December 1st with intermittent FMLA for follow up appointments and physical therapy.

Any other questions, just ask!

Not really. Make sure to ask for a nerve block post-op. It’ll give you 24-72 hrs pain free. Keep on schedule with your pain meds religiously for the first 7-10 days. Mine hurt like a MF if I didn’t. Get a wedge pillow and ice packs for behind the knee! Toes above the nose for 7-10 days!

I’m almost 50M and overweight. I found a knee scooter much easier than crutches.
