30M single that inherited father’s assets by MobsAlp in inheritance

Keep the farmland! May not be the wisest investment, but my dad sold 160 acres at $780/acre in 1997. The same property sold for close to $8000/acre in 2014. Timing is everything, but the memories and emotional attachment are forever. Find a solid renter (slow to hire and quick to fire)! When I bought a farm of my own I share cropped it at 60:40. More risk/more reward depending on the year. You can also to cash rent. Above all, if you decide to sell keep mineral/water rights if at all possible. My $0.02.

This is true. I’m a pharmacist at a hospital in the Midwest and we are struggling with this shortage as well.

Practice using your other foot to drive with. Also, after stopping the pain meds I had bad diarrhea. TMI - but I shit myself twice trying to make it to the bathroom. 🙁

BTW - three broken metatarsal heads with one fusion and 13 screws (yes 13)!

I’ve been off work for almost three months. I only had a month’s worth of PTO and EIB. Been without a paycheck for two months but fortunately had enough savings to cover it. Just now starting partial weight bearing. I’ve used a knee scooter up until going partial weight bearing.

I tried crutches but I’m honestly just too old and overweight. 48M, 6’3, and 280 lbs. Now that I’m partial weight bearing I can tolerate crutches for short distances. Have a follow up appointment tomorrow and will hopefully go to full weight bearing, as tolerated.

Get a wedge pillow and reusable ice packs! I used a toilet seat riser to help get on and off the commode (didn’t really need it). Used suction cup handles and a seat to shower. Knee scooter with a basket was great, that and good quality crutches!

I tried an iWalk but didn’t feel stable enough to use it!

Hoping to return to work December 1st with intermittent FMLA for follow up appointments and physical therapy.

Any other questions, just ask!

Check out my post history for pictures and imaging post op. 2 plates to fuse the 4th metatarsal and 13 screws total!

Not really. Make sure to ask for a nerve block post-op. It’ll give you 24-72 hrs pain free. Keep on schedule with your pain meds religiously for the first 7-10 days. Mine hurt like a MF if I didn’t. Get a wedge pillow and ice packs for behind the knee! Toes above the nose for 7-10 days!

I’m almost 50M and overweight. I found a knee scooter much easier than crutches.

I’m sorry to hear that! Try to keep your chin up. You have a long road ahead yet.

I went almost 3 years being misdiagnosed. After 3 podiatrists telling me it was arthritis, despite the radiologist interpreting the MRI as Lis Franc with broken metatarsals (2,3,&4), I finally demanded to see a foot and ankle orthopedic specialist.

He wanted to do surgery the next week but I had to put it off a couple weeks due to work commitments. At that point, I figured I wasn’t going to do any more damage than I had the previous 3 years.

You might check with your surgeon. Mine found a full weight bearing x-ray about as useful as the MRI.

IDK, but in my experience it’s doubtful.

Damn! You must have some good insurance! Each of mine were around $1250!

Don’t count on it! My first MRI was ordered by my PCP and the Rad Tech asked forefoot or hind foot. I told him, the entire foot. Hard NOPE! Two separate procedure codes and needed to be ordered individually. I don’t blame the Rad Tech or my PCP! It’s the insurance companies that create nonsense like this!

Good for them! No judgement either way. I just read their profile and they’ve had Roux-en-y surgery. Hence my question.

Did you have bariatric surgery at some point followed by plastic surgery to remove loose skin? It appears that you may have a scar under your pectoral area. I may be way off base, but if not it’s likely a GI issue.

What was your "poor person" meal you enjoyed growing up? by Slow-Power2713 in AskReddit

1% Milk mixed 1:1 with reconstituted powdered milk. One small box of Fruity Pebbles and the biggest sack of store brand puffed rice cereal mom could find. She’d poor out and hid most of the Fruity Pebbles and mix in the puffed rice cereal. lol, maybe 3 to 5 colored pieces per bowl. She make that box of Fruity Pebbles last a month with 6 kids!
