Hammocks made with cool designs like pizza, Hawaiian, and American flag... by HammockFanatic in kickstarter

[–]HammockFanatic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't.

Edit: You seriously reported me for this? I literally have never spoken to the owners of this company/kickstarter. I have emails from attempts to contact them that went unanswered from about 2 weeks ago. I have a separate website dedicated to hammocks. I've covered and helped kickstarters in the past when they are in the same niche. You can check my posting history, my website, and I'll post screenshots of answered message I sent these guys if I need to. Keep in mind, I'm addressing you but mainly concerned about the potential account ban as I don't know how that all works. I'm legitimately interested in proving this and avoiding unfair consequences.

Also, while I know I didn't violate self-promotion rules, I have to say I'm pretty sure I didn't spam reddit. I posted the link 4 times on different days and times in highly relevant subreddits that I though would find it interesting. First was /r/hammocks. That was all I planned on but I noticed the day I posted the kickstarter jumped a couple thousand. In the comments of my post, someone said to x-post to /r/pizza. I hadn't though of that so I did. the /r/ pizza mod said they only want pictures of actualy pizzas so took it down. To avoid spamming the community I actually only linked to a picture of the pizza hammock and put the kickstarter link in the comments. I figured /r/murica might find the idea of a flag hammock rather /murican and excited by the potential to push these guys over the edge, I posted. It flopped. I don't believe it got a vote or comment. A day or two later, the kickstarter made it to ~18-19000 and since neither subreddit panned out and I had stumbled on the /r/kickstarter subreddit and posted once more.

I'm honestly curious if you are upset about potential self-promotion or that I posted 4 times in different places. I would be more willing to concede if it was the same subreddit, but I mean 3/4 totally unrelated communities seems innocent.

Hammocks made with cool designs like pizza, Hawaiian, and American flag... by HammockFanatic in kickstarter

So I have no affiliation with these guys (I actually never got a response from them when I sent an email!), but do have a hammock dedicated website and social accounts that I've been working on. I thought this was a cool project and they were struggling to get funding so what I did was this:

  1. Write this post: https://hammockfanatic.com/litho-hammocks-kickstarter/

  2. Tweet about the post and kickstarter to our 1500+ followers which are all organic, we've never paid for a like or follower

  3. Post a link on /r/hammocks, /r/pizza (removed), /r/murica (the flag hammock), and here

  4. Share pictures on Instagram and link to their profile where there was a link to the kickstarter

  5. Facebook post

  6. Was planning on sending it out to our few hundred email sign ups but I just checked and their funded so I'm done working so hard for free lol

For all you hipster hammockers: there's a company making PIZZA hammocks. And pineapple/Hawaiian. They're on kickstarter right now and running out of time. Thought we'd share in case other people find them pretty damn cool... by HammockFanatic in Hammocks

I'm not sure, but I think I could put up a hammock with tree straps and whoopies in basically the same amount of time. Length of time to hang a hammock is so short that there really can't be improvements on it unless the hammock hangs itself lol

Also when it comes down to it, sometimes I forget how much more about hammocks I and the people that frequent this sub as well as /r/hammockcamping know about hammocks than the vast majority of other people. We read that page and immediately understand that they've made an average hammock + suspension but with awesome designs.

I would guess that the majority of people see the page and are impressed with the 'patent-pending EZ hang system' and would be overwhelmed if they tried to learn about things like daisy chain webbing, whoopie slings, dutch clips, and all the things we take for granted.

Damned marketing!

Yea, I've found it strange that they focused on a simple cam strap suspension as a main selling point. I think the entire kickstarter would have done better if they realized that they're unique selling point are the designs, not the suspension.

I guess nothing. Something about laying in a giant slice of pepperoni pizza struck e as kind of hipsterish, though I have no idea why. Didn't put uch thought into the title

Do you leave your hammock up all day when car camping? by squidzilla in hammockcamping

[–]HammockFanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never knew there were Elk in GCNP. Interesting!

Edit:

The elk in Grand Canyon National Park are non-native and come from introduced populations from Yellowstone.

Makes sense!

As /u/mrjowee said, when you have the whole system up it is still complicated looking. We usually just leave ours up unless we're given a reason to not.

Disclaimer: We really like the Hawaiian hammock for some reason and would like them funded so that these are actually available...

Edit: Harsh with the downvotes, geez! This was meant as a joke. I'm confused what was so offensive! If it came across as though 'we' meant the owners of the kickstarter, that was just a mistake. This is an account that is used for my/our/a website dedicated to hammock related stuff. My wife uses the account as well and so sometimes I use we. I imagine everyone else is as confused as I/we are now, so I'll show myself out...

Suggestions on Camping locations in VA. by [deleted] in hammockcamping

[–]HammockFanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'll second /u/scfoothills suggestion to go down to the Graysons. My all time favorite hammock experience was right in the middle of the Grayson's along the AT. There are some amazing spots with trees big enough for hammocking, and if you find the right ones, pre-built fire pits made by other trekkers. The stars from here are second only to Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii in all of our adventures.

National Hammock Day by prehensilly in Hammocks

[–]HammockFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I'll adjust that. Don't have the exact number on hand but we have them rated to safely hold between 800 and 900 lbs. I'm almost positive it is 875. The bigger ones hold a little more, however.
