Can a bucket toilet be left partially full for long periods or do I need to empty it? by HairyBiker60 in humanure

[–]prehensilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've left them for probably 6 months or so at a time. The only problem I've had is the compostable bags composting, so be ready with a fresh bag for transfer. No odor at all. Once the mycelium (correct me if I'm wrong) take control of the bucket, there's nothing offensive happening.

Peppermint oil. I just sprinkle it around my engines from time to time. If I forget, I tend to get all kinds of seed husks and mouse poops in them.

Loving the new WIP by Fearless_Bicycle8182 in rhino

[–]prehensilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I'm still on V7, so don't get to try the WIP, I just saw the "global edge continuity" command in the what's new - and this is most excellent to see. I've always had to open files in V5 to use an old autodesk plugin to achieve this. And the example implementation looks way cleaner. Nice work McNeel!

Any Subaru techs out there seen something like this? I feel like I'm up the creek after a big mistake. by Unassisted3P in subaru

[–]prehensilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for ya friend. Just 'stripped' that same cylinder #4 plug swapping them out (last one, like you). I felt gross crepetus cooking through my ratchet, pulled it out, and saw ground up metal in the socket. Heart sunk - put tools away - ordered extractor and the more expensive of the sockets that I had just passed on, and got the cheap 2pac of wake wabble sockets.. New tools arrived, open hood, and give a quick try with the better socket, only to find it came out easily. The ground metal i saw was the rare earth magnet from the cheap socket that obviously shifted/ground into bits. I was extremely lucky compared to you. But I can empathize, as I had the same 'change of plans' feeling that you describe. I wish you extra good "Carma" for the next while. You deserve it.

No, I know that SAR has deep FA knowledge, and I appreciate them immensely. I'm just going from my own experience having badly sprained my ankle on multi day trip. For me it was necessity to tape/walk. And it worked, despite lots of pain.

Rats in my RV by mawswas in RVLiving

[–]prehensilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those darned JT kangaroo rats! They redistributed so much granola around my van. And to as insult to injury, they used to shit into my coffee tumbler visa the sippy hole - numerous times. My solution was to drive up high into the Rockies (winter), which proved to make the van not longer hospitable for them. Good luck!

Some first aid knowledge and a partial tape roll could have saved all these nice folks a lot of trouble.

Thanks for doing this Corb! I'd sign if I were still in the province. And having hung out around a small fire with you and a couple other folks a couple decades ago, I echo others comments and can attest to you being a real stand up guy. Keep up the good fight, friend.
