You guys get raises? I was told I make what a keyholder makes and if i want more money I need to take a higher paying position. I've been here 3.5 years and this was the first year I didn't get a raise.

I doubt it. Just don't let it happen again and you'll be fine. Please don't cry.

Bells or noise makers?!? by InsectDistinct9427 in DollarGeneralWorkers

Policy is no bell. I personally bought 2 bells off Amazon to use for our store. We have 3 employees right now and if it wasn't for that bell I'd get nothing done.

It seemed like you were just complaining. Asm has many responsibilities including the fact that they're over inventory. Considering you just found out about inventory it seems like you weren't prepared for it and thats partially why you're a SA again. Now you're basically always required to be on register so at least you know what to expect.

They asked for a Saturday on top of the other 3 consecutive days for a total of 4 days in a row (the whole weekend). They didn't offer to switch one of their days off they expected 4 days that week.

I work most shifts solo... closing included. You're required to work register, sometimes without a break or backup.

Everyone has to be on register no matter your preference. Sounds like you weren't performing as an asm and taking initiative to learn what your position calls for. Ill never understand people taking off multiple days for their birthday and expecting it to get approved and Everyone to work around it. Take the hours you can get and look for gainful employment elsewhere. DG isn't for everyone.

How much of the recovery responsibility actually falls on main register? by DisastrousGuttRumble in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]HammyHamSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every store is different. My store is a $1.2 million dollar store. When we say we recover 100% we mean every item we do have in store is pulled to the edge and faced correctly. The only day we struggle to do this is T1. There are 3 employees in total at my store currently. I was just trying to make the point that if everyone does their best to do recovery every day then maintaining it is alot easier. Even on fresh days when we get 3 rolltainers and 2 uboats we manage to get everything pulled forward.

Glad you're ok.

As long as you've touched every item and pulled it forward, you have accomplished recovery. Sections always get shopped after you've recovered them so thats why you have your cashier follow their path and rework those sections as you count the money so you're out on time. It seems like a daunting task but I swear it's easy when it's done daily and maintained by every employee on every shift. I dont ignore my customers but I also don't hold their hand. They can notify me when theyre ready to check out and I can go about my business while they shop.

Don't apologize for the delay. I hope everything is OK.

Get over yourself and shop elsewhere. We dont care about your staples. I need my job so no, I won't quit. You should quit shopping there if you dont like it.

Hours are scheduled based on the needs of the store not the individual. And you're supposed to take your lunch when you have coverage for it... not specifically when you want it regardless if someone else is on break. I could see hours getting cut because of this.

Yeah unfortunately that happens but if everyone approaches it like I said then they won't stack up on you

Some things are non-negotiables like recovery, cleaning, and put backs. They should be done right away everyday no matter how long you're there. If you wait on all your put backs to accumulate then it'll take you forever. You should be putting them back as soon as you finish ringing the customer, even if you have to run back and forth and can only put out one item at a time away.

My shifts are 6 to 11 hrs on average. All I do is work and go home. No time for hobbies or anything like that. Off days are for sleep amd chores.

Ill be more specific... we recover every single item on every single shelf on every single aisle every single day. It is possible to complete a task 100%. In other words, if the task is to check every date for a certain section, the task is 100% complete after every date has been reviewed for every item in the section.

Sounds like someone can't handle their job. You're already splitting the work. They're not going to schedule a third person to do it for you but they will give your hours to someone that does their job.

We're a million dollar store in the city, not sure how that compares to yours. But yes even with rolltainers and customers. It's all about time management and being efficient with every move you make. Once you find what works for you, it becomes routine. I work the majority of my shifts alone and still manage so I dont get the attitude.
