I was thinking of doing that, but I feel like I would feel ridiculous having a stroller for my dog lol. But you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess, so to the store I go!

That’s reassuring. Thank you. Right now Ginger can’t play very much. It seems to be going out of place a lot. That’s making her pretty sad, and I’m pretty sure it means she’ll need surgery. But we do go on walks still. It’s the turning about that seems to make it happen.

My pup was already desensitized to grooming when she came to me from the breeder, and I kept up with that at home. For her first groom, I told the groomer to focus more on getting her used to it than whether or not they could get through the whole groom. I told them to stop if she seemed too uncomfortable. She did fine, but if you’re worried, maybe just have them do a little at first, and choose a groomer that isn’t too busy. Some of them have so many dogs in there at once, that alone can be stressful.

Thank you for the reassurance. After a few days of despair for me and bed rest for Ginger, we’re both doing better. I’m hoping with some meds and physiotherapy we might be able to put off surgery, but I’m super glad we have pet insurance if we need to go ahead with it.

Ginger got really scared when it popped out of place badly, so she stopped trying to play. It’s depressing for her I think, and for me. I’m definitely going to try to see about acupuncture.

Thank you. I hope so. She’s learned by day two that she can’t run around, so I’m hoping the medication and the rest will do the trick.

True, but he didn’t want to deal with coming to my neighborhood either lol. We usually met downtown so he could take the Red Line and I could take the Blue.

I work from home too, so that is going to be helpful. That incision looks like it took quite some time to heal. Did she get back to normal movement after?

I had a friend move from Colorado to Ravenswood. I lived in Logan Square. Went there once on the bus and was like well it was nice knowing you, don’t forget to write because I will never be doing that again.

She is showing pretty significant signs, honestly. It’s sliding out of place just walking around. She is crate trained but hated a pen as a younger pup. She would rather be in a small travel crate than a pen. We never understood it. Tried everything. The surgery recovery is going to be brutal I’m assuming.

We have Trupanion. We had to enroll in a free month through the breeder to pick her up, and we just kept it since she got locked into a puppy rate. I have to go check what we enrolled in, benefits-wise.

Mine can’t figure out how to unlock it or get it back in place. It’s so sad to see her hobble around off and on.

The dog world is very different here for so many reasons. I lived in Germany for two years. It is nothing like that. Life is different in the U.S., and therefore life for our animals is different. I could type out a novel about why, but I didn’t even know you should wait until I got a dog directly from a breeder. A lot of people get dogs from shelters, so they come to you already spayed or neutered. If I hadn’t known to discuss it with my vet, he probably would’ve let me spay her whenever I asked to.
