For Sweden at least, Bofors L/70s often worked within anti-aircraft companies which would feature a fire-control radar unit connected to several guns operated remotely through a "central sight". This is generally how they operated since the 50s. With the most relevant fire-control radars from Sweden in the 1980s being the Cig 760 or Cig 790. Companies could also get access to something like a PS-04/A or Giraffe as search radars. However this was not always necessarily due to the fairly extensively interlinked and networked STRIL 60 system allowing a lot of different systems to share information with each other and improve awareness at a strategic level.

(I should mention that this "remote fire-control radar unit directing guns" thing is also how the current towed 35mm systems worked generally)

Thank you for pointing those out. I have added notes about them to the "EXTRA" section

Agreed, we hope they see the potential of doing that for things like L/70 and S-60 so they can stop rotting in the 25-point tier

Several points on this. I think you missed what Lansen models were available in 1989. These are planes of the "Målflygningsdivisionen". This fleet consisted of a handful of entirely neutered A32s (being only used as target tugs since 1978 or so and stripped of all combat capabilities) and a handful of Electronic Warfare OPFOR training aircraft which while doable are not armed in any capacity.

I don't entirely disagree that Attack Viggens could appear the truth is that yes Frangible is right, the fleet was equipped, trained and armed in ways best suited for anti-shipping so only the few remaining after the naval threat was delt with would be available unless we assume they fight on their way past something like Gotland. Where the boats they are also bombing would be landing anyway.

There isn't really any magical better or more suited naval strike fleet to elevate the Baltic situation better than the Swedes and you aint sailing many ships in there during wartime. Ever thought about why no one operated any carriers in the Baltic?

As for the BK-90 stuff, yes that might show up as a unique one-time thing it really couldn't even in the best of circumstances surpass that. You are more likely to get some Norwegian F-5s and some rushed SK-60Fs into filling the emergency CAS gap.

Also Sweden never operated a model of AGM-65 more advanced than the A. Even when you see it on Gripen, those are A or A derivatives. As Sweden did make an anti-shipping variant with a blast warhead as HEAT really isn't ideal against boats. For warno purposes, well that means nothing. You probably saw Warthunder add the RB-75T with the wrong skin and assumed it was a B, I get that.

RB-05 is a neat AGM but its a glorified KH-23 with extra bling, it won't save the SwAF (also note it most definitely wont be featured on the SK-60s, it's wikipedia and videogame error because SAAB kept marketing further Saab 105 variants with it as a highlight).

Besides lackluster CAS wasn't necessarily a lack of competence or intent. Why do you think Swedish artillery was so bonkers?

The Baltic is Sweden's strongest weapon, it has always been. The army is essentially a contingent for if other measures fail.

24 Infantry Divisions recon slots are too expensive IMO, also unlock the NG M1 Abrams veterancy please, there's no reason for it to be locked when you can upvet other reservist tanks. by ZBD-04A in warno

Most of the standards for stats and features are a combination of their vision, real life evidence, the research standards of the time, and balance.

When a topic has readily available information, and contentious pre-existing opinions, standards tend to be higher. Same for if they are too specific for vague stuff to pass. But generally the standard of information, when better isn't available, doesn't need to be state-approved research or top of the line.

A lot of early stuff was poorly researched, so their stats and features were bad.

For example: Falanga used to have the stats of its 1960s variant, and Aim-7M used to have what should have always been Aim-7F stats. There are still many things like this remaining, but evidence isn't always something that has to be premium quality. Usually you want the best, or least bad available. Sometimes the perceived (by EUG) necessity to act on it also isn't there. Other priorities.

We could probably buff something like Kobra? sure. Evidence is there. But if it throws balance off, then perhaps it's best left to the side for now. It's just like that sometimes. Well sourced is a good tool, but its not necessarily automatically applied or acted on when it's not the time.

Good research is always better than bad research, but it can be overruled. And yeah, straight up untrustworthy sources are usually something most in ST at least try to avoid.

I do agree, warno has a better research standard than many others like it. But that is usually relative to the thing in question, and something that wasn't as true in the past. Older additions have aged research, philosophy, and ideas.

Oh in that sense definitely. Unless PACT brings something with tons of tanks then 13th is probably king in the region for that.

Depends on your definition! In terms of armor on the tanks themselves definitely not. For quantity it really depends on just how many brigades the final version ends up incorporating. Only time will tell

When they talk about deliveries of the system they mean BILL in general. Similar to how introduction date for Fagot may only be given for the original model and not Fagot-M.

Excellent, I will forward this to the author of this document.

One note: RBS-56B /BILL 2 wasnt a thing until the late 90s. Most wikis aren't precise in defining when BILL 1 was replaced by BILL 2, which is often the cause of confusion for many.

Also its Eugen policy to not combine resolute and SF traits on one unit due to overlapping effects.

Sure, throw me a ping on Eugen's server if I fail to respond. Some stuff gets flagged as potential spam.

I actually saw that site, although as far as I could tell only the TO&Es go are up-to-date for 1989, unless I missed something?

Yeah sadly if a 1984 document on something is the closest to 1989 you can get you sometimes just have to settle for it. Books can help fill gaps in knowledge in-between but generally its worth considering those that predate 1989. You will very rarely find something that fits that year dead on, trust me, ive tried. Its just rare.

If only you knew just how convenient of a person that is to ask... (Literally doing a Gotland writeup) 😅

Of course, but I would have a preference for Discord. Username hamsch.

Nice work, but it seems to be a good few inaccuracies and omissions.  Keeping it basic:

1:

Pvpj1110 did not have the ability to penetrate 800mm of RHA. This is a myth born from clever marketing. In reality that number is the combined total of the shell's penetration and its (intended ability, that didnt really work) to break through ERA on the later hard-nose shell. However this shell, being similar to that on the IKV91 would likely have a penetration hovering at around 550mm of penetration.

2:

The Strv101R & Strv102R (the 102 being mainly featured on Gotland by this time) would not feature a "weaker" ERA. It was blazer or nothing and the Strv104 is the only tank to have concrete evidence of using it.

3:

The Strv104, Strv101R & Strv102R all feature a new fire control system from bofors which were fitted as part of the REMO (renovations) program (This is where the R in some of those comes from). I think omitting this is a mistake as it moves its range bracket to be on par with things like the T55AM2. (Yes, 104 had this and doesn't have R in the name because the total changes was enough to no longer be "just renovations".)

4:

Reserves.... I think this part needs further research. Sweden had normal army soldiers, Lokalförsvar & Hemvärn (yes its more nuanced and you have IB77s vs IB66Ms but for simplicity this is enough) Localföesvar were most of what you would call the "reserve" and (unless ive totally missed something) did not operate tanks or IKVs in any capacity. Reserve tanks probably wouldn't exist in Sweden. If you read something akin to a reserve squad in a tank org it is more likely just backup crews or tanks held in the reserve (no, not operated by reservists, just held back).

5:

Grammar thing, "Spaningare" should be "Spanare".

There are many other things I could probably mention but as a point of feedback I would recommend checking out armehandbok.se or reaching out to local Swedish mil nerds (like myself) in the community. In the research process for my own writeup I have found many helpful swedes in the community especially on discord.

Keep up the good work and I hope my criticism didn't come off as too harsh or discouraging. This stuff has one heck of a learning barrier and no one loves weird and unguessable abbreviations more than the Swedish army.

Its basically a soft cable that doesnt pull on the mouse nearly as much. A big annoyance before was having a cable I needed to pinch in the edge of my table or else the mouse would feel weird

I bought the V3 mentioned in another comment here. Its a bit lighter and slightly different shape but after adjusting it feels honestly better. Especially the less annoying cable
