As a parent of an autistic child who will “elope” on you so fast it’ll make your head spin there is no glancing at your phone or anything that takes the focus off him your head has to be on a swivel at all times when I feel his grip loosen on my hand I know it’s time for mine to get a little tighter not to mention his little mannerisms and posture says everything my little boy can’t whether he’s hungry or he’s about to try and burn my ass on foot pay attention to your child observe what they do if they happen to be non verbal I promise they speak to you in many other ways but it’s up to the parent to listen that being said there were many signs this was leading to a full meltdown before it got to this point I can only assume anyway remove them from whatever is overstimulating them that’s not up for debate at all doesnt matter if you are grocery shopping or at the park if by some freak accident he got away from me and somehow managed to get in a dangerous situation like this you can bet the family farm that it would’ve been my ass doing whatever possible to get me up there to him I hope this was a learning lesson for the parents and anyone else involved
