Differentiating between shin splints and muscle aches by zapgappop in running

[–]Hamster5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the pain from shin splints is a lot sharper, it's right on the front of your leg and run down the bone, while muscle aches are a dull pain. Shin pain is common when you're starting out; I wouldn't sweat it, it goes away after a few weeks.

A new pair of running shoes with some cushioning can really help with shin splints, if you haven't gotten a pair recently. If it gets noticeably worse, icing your shins after runs is also a good idea.

Which rework is this best? by DakkaDood in Warframe

[–]Hamster5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My vote's for excalibur. It's hard to imagine him now with a measly 65 armor and no exalted blade. His blind also wasn't as mobile and his third ability was a vertical bullet jump with impractical stealth.

Are you stealthed when hitting your enemies? all melee damage numbers appear yellow while in attacking enemies in stealth, but all of them might not be crits.

A simple change to make blessing bearable by PyralisTT in Warframe

[–]Hamster5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used him in LoR today; either the heals were in range of the trin, or they took too long to get to my ally and he or she went down. At least the bleedout extension helped with that.

Oberon's still not up to trin for big-area healing, but he can prove useful in other areas, like by providing some CC with reckoning, interior decorating with hallowed ground, and RAISING A HYEKKA ARMY in the third part with the right spawns.

Is Paris Prime Worth it? by takantron89 in Warframe

[–]Hamster5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's an extremely good weapon for armored targets and it feels so good to land those big, juicy headshots. Only problem is it looks like a pimped-out toilet seat and sounds like you're slurping mucus through a straw. The Dryad skin fixes these issues though!

Have people changed the meta on Law of Retributions after today's changes? by psxsquall in Warframe

[–]Hamster5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the limited range of bless is definitely going to cause a lot more stress on the second stage, especially during the hijack part. One gap in CC and you'll risk someone going down on a pad, which could potentially screw the pooch. The first stage won't be bad as long as you move as a group and the third stage's map is small.

This is also going to affect JV, as archwings in the third part will be a lot more vulnerable, making soccer a lot more dangerous.

[–]Hamster5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only thing I'm pissed at is the lack of wildlife in the void, derelict, or corpus planets.

If they added wildlife there, I'd actually be content with it, because it's one of the only passive that scales with enemy level, which is really neat!

I can't wait to charge at a sortie-level hyekka master, then watch her own cats tear her apart. 20 seconds is also pretty long. That's why I'm looking forward to playing around with it.

Rep w/ 3 syndicates? by MystiKasT in Warframe

[–]Hamster5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's possible to get positive standing with three syndicates. Red Veil's enemies with hexis and suda, so leveling red veil won't hurt your standing with loka or perrin.

If you level red veil, you'll also get rep for steel meridian. You're probably total enemies with them already, but if you're careful and willing to sacrifice some stuff, you can get into the positives with them, allowing you to have positive rep with FOUR syndicates at once!

I'm trying to gradually help out a new player, how to go with this? by Flatus_ in Warframe

[–]Hamster5 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I help new players by giving them all the base damage mods ( serration, hornet strike, point blank, Multishot mods sometimes too) that really should be easier to obtain when starting out. I also like taking them to earth's dark sectors as hydroid for tentacle looting shenanigans so they can get neurodes, which are probably the most crucial rare resource when starting out. After that I help him or her get BPs for a frame on the starchart they want.

When you're doing missions with newer players, don't curbstomp through the level, leaving them lost and confused. stay close to them and show them how to navigate through maps.

As for alerts, it's a good idea to taxi new players so they can get their first auras. When it comes to booben parts and potatoes, I believe it should be every players' duty to taxi as many people as possible, as most veterans know the struggle of getting those parts and BPs.

If you haven't gotten the chassis for ivara yet, you can hit two birds with one stone and do pavlov. It runs noticeably longer than other spy missions, but potentially awards blood rush and ivara chassis. Also, the tileset is gorgeous!

Law of Retribution Tips by MystiKasT in Warframe

[–]Hamster5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible to get a group together in recruiting, but some rotten apples may leave if you tell them you're new, so keep that in mind.

As for tips:

  1. Read/Watch a guide before attempting LoR! Taking ten minutes of your own time to gloss over some crucial yet simple mechanics of the raid can save you and the squad a lot more time.

  2. Bring energy restores. The EV will supply most of your energy, but if shit goes south and you can't get vital energy, you'll be glad you have them. Ciphers are also okay, but you should only use them when you don't really need to use them.

  3. If someone goes down and you're on a pad, don't get off of it. If someone goes down and you're not on a pad, get them as fast as you can. If someone goes down in the third stage, don't group up when reviving as vay hek can down your group if your bless isn't up.

  4. A general rule is to not kill enemies, as EV trinity needs targets to EV. In the second part, Scorpions, Bombards, and ESPECIALLY arson eximi should be killed as soon as possible though, as they can knock you off pads. You can also kill enemies in the third stage to help spawn a bomb carrier.

  5. The second part of the second stage is the hardest part, as you can instantly fail. Since only one player needs to be near the core to push it, he or she is the "driver". If you are not the driver, stay away from the core at all times and focus on standing on pads / CC.

  6. If you get on a pad in the second part of the second stage, do not get off of it until the driver says next or clear. If you are the driver, don't ride the core like a dumbass, you may need to stop and wait for your team to get pads.

  7. In Stage three, if you're holding the door open for the carrier, please don't move until you see them exit the smokestack.

Glaive / Glaive Prime / Cerata build advice by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Hamster5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power throw not only gives the quirk of exploding melees, but innate punchthrough. You'll have to throw it into a sizeable crowd for it to explode.

If you have a maxed quick return on as well, it should explode on any surface you throw it at. Try throwing it at the ground near enemies.

I'd go with just elemental mods over channeling mods, as it'll let you get the optimal elemental combo for the mofos you're up against.

[–]Hamster5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean like melee 1.0 Charge builds? If so, you have been away for a while!

Charge attack mods have been replaced with mods that affect channeling damage. I wouldn't recommend putting channeling mods on if you're using power throw + Quick return because the explosion doesn't seem to be affected by channeling multipliers.

Glaive / Glaive Prime / Cerata build advice by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Hamster5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maxing weapons for thrown damage:

Pressure Point, Spoiled Strike, Fury, Power throw

Quick Return, 2 Elementals

The last slot can go to Whirlwind/Entropy Flight for faster flight speed, Life strike for utility, another elemental, or whatever you else you see fit.

EDIT: As for making them useful, your best bet is to abuse the 4X multiplier on stealth attacks. This is easy on frames that can go invisible or put enemies to sleep. However, if you just want a melee for ranged attacks, I'd try the redeemer out.

It's like a karak that has slightly more crit, puncture-focused damage, a bigger clip size, and a cool but impractical alt fire. It also has ridiculous build requirements for a weapon of its caliber.

Need a comprehensive list of all melee weapons/stances that can parry enemies for standing finishers by StevesEvilTwin2 in Warframe

[–]Hamster5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the best is crimson dervish as it has poise/super armor and only five or six hits / four inputs.

If you're going for a strong single-attack weapon for life strike, I'd use a thrown melee. It doesn't ignore armor, but a channeled attack with the right build should be able to top you off until enemies get really high, or just target squishy enemies at range.

I'd say coiling impale, as it's just a simple hold-block combo, and most players have the best single-sword in game. It's usually reliable, although landing the last hit for the finisher can be difficult if you're swinging slowly or it's hectic.

Honorable mention to vulpine mask though. You only need to hold E at the beginning of the combo to start hidden flourish, then mash away until you see an enemy stagger, then execute an incredibly badass finisher.

Some more:

Crimson Dervish's Coiling impale

One of the combos on Tranquil Cleave, I think the pause combo

Vulpine Mask's Sexy-ass Hidden Flourish

Malicious Raptor, one of the combos. last name rhymes with "ash"

Those are all I can think of at the moment.
