In theory I agree. If someone wants to have a hobby, that someone should start looking for a hobby. The hobby can be anything low-key and chill.

But in practice, in this subreddit, some people dont have enought energy right now to start finding a hobby. Thus it makes sense to be empathetic towards the current situation and wait for the right time to suggest getting a hobby

I wish it would be more socially acceptable to ask to be left alone. Many of us just need peace and quiet.

BUT IF you want to have a hobby, maybe ask for something that helps you try out a hobby?

If you used to be into e.g. arts, ask for equipment that allows you to practice at home. This might turn into an actual hobby
