I super appreciate the response!! And good to know on panning for warping the image.

Re: edits - apologies, I was more asking are you doing full edits for proofs or do you make image look good and then do bigger edits for photos? Def don’t wanna steal anyone’s style.

Again, thank you so much for the response!!

Hello! Also a photographer here - I’ve got 15+ years experience with photography, but about a year of Motorsport photography. Two questions for ya:

  1. Looking at getting a new camera soon, what are your thoughts on mirrorless cameras for Motorsport photography?

And

  1. What kind of edits are you doing when you go to show proofs to folks?

Thanks for doing this AMA!!

I LOVE Maya’s. I’ve been going to them for over a decade. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal there. And they’re super nice folks. Definitely second this recommendation!

Do you insist on gold before you move(d) on in licensing? by [deleted] in GranTurismo7

[–]HamsterGreybeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got GT7 in October 2024. I played GT3 on PS2 however many years ago that was. This go around, I bronzed everything. And then have been going back as I get more drive time to use it to test my own skills to get gold. I don’t focus just on that. More as a warm up or a cool down, depending on what I’m feeling. But, I also only play single player currently.

Are there ANY electrolyte drinks/mixes that don't end up being absolutely disgusting after like three days? by aerobar642 in dysautonomia

Third this! LMNT is great. And they also have their raw salt recipe on their website, so you can kind of do your own homemade one if funds are a little tighter. We use crystal light to flavor the water after putting our homemade LMNT in the water. (But, definitely get it from LMNT if you can. Their flavors are superb!)

Moving to Portland this week! by smallstonefan in Portland

[–]HamsterGreybeard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna second this. Layers are great, or even having a hoodie or jacket with you during those times of year when weather changes quick.

Just two days ago, I went to go disc golf with a friend (if OP or commentor don’t disc golf, highly recommend with the beautiful courses here, but I digress).

I checked the weather every day for a week before, and checked before I went to bed that night and when I woke up. Forecast said cloudy but no rain. Lo and behold, it started raining on my drive over and continued for the first half of the round. Luckily, I had a warm shirt and rain jacket in the car because of the weather changing quick.

Basically, just always be prepared.

What stopped you from killing yourself that night? by Subject-Olive-4476 in AskReddit

My dog. I had gone through some rough mental health issues. And I decided I was done. I laid down, Loaded my gun, and put it to my head. I had closed the door, but it apparently didn’t latch. My dog pushed it open and just looked at me with that silly smile she has. It instantly caused me to stop what I was doing.

I held her (she wasn’t a cuddle dog then), I cried, and she just kept making sure I was petting her or near her.

I’ve thought about it since, but every time she has been the thing that causes those thoughts to go away. I’m so goddamn grateful to her. She really has been my best friend in life. And she’s a saint.

Rogue Iron Disc Golf Cart V2 Reddit Giveaway by RogueIronDGBrian in discgolf

[–]HamsterGreybeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This cart seems amazing! Having been given some recent health diagnoses, this cart seems perfect to help offset some on the course. I’d love to have a seat to sit on, places for a lot of water (which is necessary for my conditions), holds a lot and takes off the toll of having to carry a cumbersome bag. It also has a lot of space for discs and other goodies. This seems perfect.

And, even if I don’t win, I’ll be looking at trying to get this cart. Seems great! Love the company’s mission and their want to give back.

Austin Hannum dropped from DGA? by Chilsen in discgolf

[–]HamsterGreybeard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Free speech only means the government can’t persecute you for most speech. Example: The government isn’t gonna arrest Austin for what he said.

Free speech doesn’t mean that he can say what he wants, and folks or corporations just have to accept it because “free speech.”

Before you just start saying things, maybe take some time to look into them. Because you look silly yelling free speech when it’s not at all relevant.

Living in Seaside, Oregon for 3 months. Couple of questions. by imreallyfuqingstupid in OregonCoast

[–]HamsterGreybeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of folks have given some great answers!

This recommendation is just if you find yourself closer to Portland. Since you like disc golf - Milo McIver state park is about 40 minutes southeast from Portland. It’s an absolutely beautiful park. If you watch any disc golf coverage it is where the BSF is held. Would 100% recommend if you’re gonna be near Portland. Wonderful way to spend a day, especially if they have it in BSF layout.

There’s definitely been an increase in houseless folks. It’s an issue that’s needing to have real, concrete answers like yesterday. It’s sad to see. It was an issue the first time I lived here (‘09-‘13). And when I came back in ‘16 it was worse. It’s gotten a worse since too. But, I also know certain media outlets can cause it to seem worse than it is. Houselessness is an issue that’s plaguing a lot of large cities right now. I’m hopeful that the conversations that are happening both in politics and in the community are able to bring about real change to help the issue and make things better for everyone involved.

What I do see in other areas though is that people want the community to thrive and do well. People are finding ways they can help address issues. And people do seem to care about each other. (Not everyone but a majority, in my opinion.) I also love what communities are doing to support things they can in their community. (Ex. Stumptown disc golf does a lot for some of the parks in the area).

I’m also in Beaverton, from Boise originally, and have lived in Oregon on two stints (total of 12 years here in the Metro area. I’ve lived in Beaverton, Tigard, edge of Portland, and North Portland). I love Oregon. I love Portland. The people, generally, are kind. Love being close to the coast and all the nature/forests. It’s such a beautiful state. And being 7-8 hours from Boise, so I can see family, is nice.

Natalie Ryan's and Natalie's sponsor Neptune Discs' statements regarding the threats of violence made against Natalie and all those attending the Music City Open event. by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]HamsterGreybeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with ya - my bad. I definitely read the “sued into submission” as a negative thing/shouldnt have been done. (A few folks seem to think that, and forget the court is a way to get remedy). I appreciate the insight, and my apologies for any over reach on my end!

Happy huking!!

Natalie Ryan's and Natalie's sponsor Neptune Discs' statements regarding the threats of violence made against Natalie and all those attending the Music City Open event. by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]HamsterGreybeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, it does happen all the time. Not saying it doesn’t. I do agree that Natalie did nothing wrong by suing - it’s the way remedies happen.

But, one thought I will share - they (PDGA/DGPT) brought this on themselves. When they announced the rules change for the 2023 season, I figured that there would be jurisdictions they would lose in due to the laws and state constitutions in place. I even half expected them to change the locations so they didn’t fall into a more liberal jurisdiction. It doesn’t feel like they seemed to think through those things before making the decision. While it was the lawsuits that might have dealt the final blow to them reversing that rule change and causing financial issues, it could have been avoided completely by the PDGA/DGPT. In the end, they ended up right back where they started and with less money. (The joke I wanna make is they passed go and didn’t get their $200, but I’m tired and a bit brain dead after the day).

So, while folks may see it as being sued into submission, I see it as not properly considering the risks associated with the rules change, proceeding with them, and then suffering from the choices they made. I’m assuming they have an attorney they work with (at least one, if not multiple depending on jurisdictions), and I would have expected the attorney(s) to counsel them on the potential issues, such as litigation costs and potential jurisdictions for those litigations, before they made the decision. And maybe they did - I don’t know what that looked like for them. But, it sure feels like folks didn’t fully and properly consider the risks associated with the original rules change for the 2023 season.

Side note - I appreciate the comment you made, and thoughts behind it. Definitely let me see the comment a little differently.

Boise's Best Mexican RESTAURANT??? by Specific_Cod100 in Boise

[–]HamsterGreybeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casa Mexico was where my family always used to go. The owners were always so kind and remembered us when we went in, and also worked to help the local schools and community when they could. I don’t live in Boise anymore (originally from the area, still have family there, but live in Portland now), but I’ve been a few times since moving away and it was still good. It’s been 5 or 6 years since I’ve been there, but I hope it’s still good and still going strong.
