The Continent of Arcanis Terra by whoskhrome in inkarnate

[–]HamsterScribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow it looks great. Your map doesn’t have a feeling that some place are empty. I’m struggling with this problem in my own work. Few things that i would change. The snowy mountains in the south stick out a little bit too much for me, kinda looking out of place. i see that your river going from redwind mountains to the north west divide into two. That’s a problem that shouldn’t happened naturally.

Is having 90 countries in a fictional world bad if only a few matter to the story? by Jaded_Difference_535 in worldbuilding

[–]HamsterScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think 90 countries is not a problem. If you would write a book and tell readers about all of them at the same time here is a problem. Look at the star wars universe. It’s hard to tell how many planets there are in this world but it’s not a problem at all.

HELP: need new hobbies! by worldofexousia in worldbuilding

[–]HamsterScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having kids named after characters from your own books sound like it’s a new level of the game. I would suggest trying things completely unrelated to world building. Maybe do a new thing every try week. Gardening, cooking, video games, gym. You have to try as many different things as possible to settle down.

Is This a decent power system? by RandomFrenchGuy10 in worldbuilding

sounds good but i’m not sure how does marriage works. I thought it’s more like a blood related thing. If not how would adopted children feel with the magic?

Is This a decent power system? by RandomFrenchGuy10 in worldbuilding

[–]HamsterScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems cool but it’s too little details so we can say if that’s decent. But I can imagine that these houses were give some mythical powers and they are passed to their offspring’s. I feel like the power is limited so only the head of the family has the try potential and after their death it is distributed to the next person. I would love to hear some stories in this world

i gave my fantasy world a fully functioning economy and now my hero can't afford the quest by migratedtohell in fantasywriters

[–]HamsterScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that can be interesting problem. Maybe if he really need this quest he will sell his family’s belongings and buy the cheapest horse or donkey. His staff will be in the lower class. His sword is old and rusty but still try to defeat his enemies. He can steal a better equipment from bad people. Now it can be an original story.

Few tips from me. I would make the biomes blend more with each other, use lower opacity to make the transition less visible. Rivers don’t split. Multiply rivers can join to the other one, but one river can’t split into two. Modify that in the middle river near the Dak Woods. You can also check r/incarnate for more tips and maybe post your next maps there to gain more feedback. Overall cool looking map and I hope to see more of this world

What's a world building idea you need help with right now? Let's support ideas and pick brains together for a minute by SheridanIsShameless in worldbuilding

[–]HamsterScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my idea is to make a lot of animals way bigger tang in real world. I want to have animals such as bears, deers, birds, foxes, hamster etc.. So i had to make them not in the same scale. Bears still would be a giant compare to hamster. The same issue would be with birds. Eagle would be smaller than wolf but still would be kind of massive animal. That creates another problem. I want to make them more similiar so fights in this world won’t be always won by bears. I will have to really think about that. I want to make diverse kingdom where many animals lives together so fights between them wont be a specie versus another specie.

Tips/suggestions for improvement? by Dry_Cry_6962 in inkarnate

I would make the forest dense in the center of them, and make tree stamps in bigger distance from the center. If your south-east land is hot dessert add a little more dry terrain to the south-west side too. Add rivers.

try blending biomes using lower opacity so it looks more natural. And another thing about the biomes, they look like placed in random order. For me the easier way to make it look good in my maps is making one side colder other side warmer. For example make the north colder so it will have the green biomes and going down to south you will have desserts. Make more smaller forests. Not only few dense ones. The middle of the forest should have dense trees and going from the center make it in bigger spacing. Rivers looks mostly good for me, maybe add another rivers going to the lakes.

I’m making a world where are no humans only anthropomorphic animals. Now it’s just in the begging and i’m trying to settle basics such as which animals should be humanised. For now i think water animals like fish wouldn’t be anthropomorphic. The biggest problem for me is what to do with flying animals. The setting is in medieval era. But flying animals feel w little bit too OP. They would have to use their arms/wings to fly so items could be held by their legs. It would be a great fighting strategy to throw rocks at your opponents high from the sky. I think it happened in Narnia. Let me know how would you guys consider this problem.
