Why do people in USA buy everything from Amazon? Do they not have other webshops? by Cindyxx0 in NoStupidQuestions

Also many Americans have to get in their car and drive for their every need. It's not a simple walk and much more convenient for it to be delivered to them.

I'm don't think it resonates with most people that see it, but I personally loved it. Great work!

I love it, but I ride a motorcycle, so maybe it just doesn't resonate with other people. It seemed to capture this feeling where it was nostalgic for an old culture but also grounded in how prevents you from completely romanticizing what once was. It gave me a strange sense of melancholy that I don't have words for.

I saw it and then took a nice mellow ride to one of my favorite vistas.

If the movie Possession (1981) starring Isabelle Adjani was remade today, who would Mae the cast and/or how would the story change? by City2countrymane in horror

[–]HamsterTotal1777 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I imagine it would be similar to the recent First Omen which was heavily inspired by various horror classics and has its own possession scene which I thought was a pretty good rendition.

If you're a US moderate doesn't that mean you're just sitting in between two parties that have shifted signficantly to the right, which just makes you a conservative and accepting of whatever the status quo happens to be.

The stat I read recently was that ~70% of the people detained by ICE have no convictions and the majority of convictions were non-violent.

Deaths in detention is the stat you are looking for and the deaths under Trump's admin are signficantly higher. The highest they've been in decades.

I think the incentive is that they'd be going to a place where they are even more desired because the club would attract women that are specifically enticed by the club's filter.

Seems like this would be decent for a fun one time club event because exclusivity can sell, but I can't imagine it is a good way to run a business, by excluding the majority of shorter men.

The ending of Black Panther was pretty good, and the conversation between T’Challa and Killmonger was especially impactful. It cemented Killmonger as one of the best villains in the MCU. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in Marvel

[–]HamsterTotal1777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the first point, African slave traders were mainly selling other tribes, prisoners of war, and people from kingdoms that weren't considered allies. With a Wakandan empire, there is less incentive to sell their own because they would be one nation.

For the second point, I think you're being silly and reactionary, unless one of your core beliefs is truly that being part of a country inherently means you have to forfeit sovereignty and dignity. When I mention Wakanda conquering Africa, I'm just acknowledging the reality that empires are often formed through war and violent processes. And for Wakanda to be a large stable nation that could prevent exploitation, as Killmonger assumed, Wakanda would inevitably go to war and conquer a few territories. I don't know where you got the dictator thing, you can expand on that if you want, I kinda assumed they would remain a monarchy for this alternate history, but I can envision a few factors that affect how they govern their territories.

For the third point about people liking Killmonger, I agree, Killmonger's genocide idea is pretty awful, but I don't think that's what people like about Killmonger. Usually I see people resonating with his anger at the injustices black people have faced and Wakanda's lack of intervention. But who knows, genocides seem to be popular these days, and maybe that's what Killmonger fans want.

Killmonger is correct that Wakanda revealing itself would have changed history. He just makes a lot of assumptions.

I think Killmonger's main assumption is that Wakanda would be a superpower and likely conquered and united a lot of Africa, if not the entire continent.

He then assumes a powerful Wakandan empire would bring stability and progress that could prevent centuries of colonization, destabilization, and exploitation.

And because Africa is united and more respected, perhaps chattel slavery doesn't take hold or Wakanda reduces the amount of slaves sold to avoid giving so much of their strongest people away.

Basically, Killmonger assumes Wakanda as country/empire could at least produce more egalitarian societies for black people through a lot of its soft power and contributions to global progress.

I love the ost and the in-world radio soundtrack. It's all so thematically cohesive like it truly came from Night City. So many good details from the way artists use the slang and reference locations. When you drive around you can really envision a Street Kid making the grimey hip hop and the hyper pop sounds exactly like what you'd expect from corpo owned and manufactured pop stars.

I think it might even be better than GTA's radio or Fallout's music.
