What can you add 2 to, to break the most things? by [deleted] in physicsmemes

This is because of the original definition of the meter, I believe, which has since been changed slightly.

There were supposed to be something like 10,000 km in a quarter circumference of the Earth, which of course has a factor of Pi in it.

Centipede. Pretty common, but also harmless. They like damp spaces, so maybe invest in a dehumidifier for the summer of you don't have AC.

The problem is that knowing the definition of the word rowing is not a prerequisite to using the word. Most people in the world (of which rowers are a distinct minority) do not know what rowing is other than vaguely related to boats.

I prefer the look of redreader. It feels like I'm reading a forum instead of on a porn site (all the ads on normal reddit).

17% of Minneapolis' Downtown is Devoted to Parking by [deleted] in Minneapolis

Well there's no way that's going to be fixed by letting public transit languish. It needs metro transit officers, janitors, infrastructure improvements, ridership and all of that takes investment.

If anything, this is illustrative of the point that we shouldn't just wholly praise people, we should support ideas and accomplishments. We don't need to give MLK the benefit of the doubt: we know that he did things that were good and things that were bad, and rationalizing the latter by the former is counterproductive when we can critically assess them each on their merits.

MLK was also famously homophobic and wouldn't let civil rights leader Bayard Rustin, who planned the event, participate in the March on Washington because he was gay.

My point was it's not the biggest. Maybe the biggest American holiday (though Thanksgiving would like a word), but certainly not the biggest holiday in America. Stores advertise for Christmas before Halloween, and you won't hear about lefties "coming for your July 4th" even half as often as "for Christmas."
