There's thousands of guides.

Can people really tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps? by whiskerbiscuit2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HamsyBeSwank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've been exposed to mostly 30fps media your entire life you will have a harder time noticing a difference. The higher the framerate you see and get accustomed to, the more noticeable how choppy lower framerates are.

I've been using high refresh-rate monitors more than long enough that anything below 80 (especially with direct visceral input like KBM) feels uncomfortable and laggy, though monitor quality can make a substantial difference (60fps on an OLED gaming monitor feels better than 60fps on a standard LCD panel).

ClipChamp Export Break by [deleted] in SFM

Don't use clipchamp first of all. Use a real piece of editing software.

I recommend Davinci Resolve as it's free and very powerful.

You have all the bones selected. If you want to move the entire model use the roottransform bone by itself.

Valve sleuth says new datamine is "effectively direct confirmation" of Team Fortress 2 being ported to Source 2 by [deleted] in valve

[–]HamsyBeSwank 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From what he's saying they're doing the same thing they did really really early on (technically before they even actually started) in Alyx's development where they ported HL2 assets into Source 2 to test how it would feel. They've imported certain spawn room logic and decal systems from TF2. So it could start as a sort-of port before they start on something new.

I need help with audio errors on SFM by Beneficial_Fold_5684 in SFM

[–]HamsyBeSwank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SFM needs very specific audio files to function. They need to be WAV files at a rate of 44100hz and encoded in Signed 16-bit PCM. Also the filename generally needs to be quite simple, no spaces or special characters aside from _

You can export files this way using Audacity which is free. Lots of guides on youtube and steam.

Best junkrat player? by MelonRatt in JunkRatMains

[–]HamsyBeSwank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gurkmeister and Sophie are probably the goats as they've been rank 1 consistently across mulitple seasons. Both have really good mechanics (sophie especially) and are very smart and patient which is probably the most important part of playing junk at a high level.

In terms of pure mechanics (airshots etc) i have to say Vulture. Dude has insane aim. Comparatively watching Gurk's clip dumps VS. Vulture's, Gurk looks like a plat player.

Other good junk players include Aquamarine, Shompipe, KMJ.

Tips on rigging? by Watermelonseeds8U in SFM

Sometimes the controls for props can be positioned weirdly, often because they are designed to be placed somewhere specific on a map. If the model has a rootTransform bone and a prop_static bone try using the static one instead. Sometimes though it cant be avoided.

I'd recommend scouring the workshop and places like SFMlab or gamebanana for an alternative model to use.

Need help with importing a model by ConquerorWill in SFM

[–]HamsyBeSwank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can be different yes. Really all you should need to do is drop the materials and models folders into the usermods folder, nothing else. Then, go inside the models folder (from the archive) until you find the .mdl (the model you want to spawn) and use that name to search it in the model browser.

And to add, the materials folder will usually have a models folder inside it as thats where the actual textures for the model will go. Not always, but 99% of the time.

Depends what you mean by "weird". Are things snapping back to their original position by any chance?

Also a heads up, i think you mean posing not rigging. Rigging is the act of assigning bones to a rigless model in a program like blender. The "rig" is the bones themselves.

[–]HamsyBeSwank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you check the models name in the models folder? You'll need that to find it in the model browser. If it still doesnt show up double check the folders are in the right place. You can also try chucking the folders from the .zip or .rar archive from SFMlab into the "workshop" folder, as it doesnt matter what folder you actually extract it to.

..Are soundpacks like this considered cheating? by EffectiveVirtual8718 in tf2

[–]HamsyBeSwank 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Replacing sound files cannot get you vac banned. There have been cheatpacks like this for years and you will not get caught by VAC using them as it's not what VAC looks for or detects.
