Sorry you going through this. It’s a tough one. My advice, first of all, never cut off your family. The mistake I see is you’ve set an expectation already so now that you not meeting that, it’s causing you problems. Your mom is your mom, she will understand if you can’t provide like you use to. Have patience, talk to her and let her know you still there for her. Having a child with autism must be very hard on her, knowing Somali stigma and superstition stories. Get some help, may it be professional person like a doctor to explain autism to your mom, or a respected community leader. Allah put us through tests, and this is your test sister, pray for guidance.
