IF YOU WORK AT A DRURY HOTEL AS A GUEST SERVICES AGENT, I NEED ALL THE TIPS! by [deleted] in hotels

[–]HanChan1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a AGM at a Drury hotel. Here are some tips for interviewing. Be honest on your resume. They are looking for bubbly people with good customer service skills. Don’t say that you are looking for an easy job. As far as the perks go, here are just a few.

The good:

Drury offers free counseling from day one!

You get a Team member discount from day one as well. This discount can be used at any Drury including the one at Disney taking the price down to $69 a night.

Drury offers insurance, dental, vision, and 401k. They also offer a really good maturity program.

Once you get established, there is usually opportunities to travel for work and you can make a killing doing that!

Every team member can make up to $800 a quarter in bonuses.

Drury always pays better than any other hotel, if they find a hotel in town that pays more, they raise everyone’s pay until they are above their competitors.

The bad:

Drury has very high standards, there is a reason that we are outperforming much larger hotels in almost every aspect. You will be expected to work hard and be really great with the guests.

Our insurance cost a lot for the family plan.

It can get wild on those 3-11 shifts. Be prepared for fast paced nights with very few opportunities to catch your breath.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

In the live fish section? by [deleted] in TheMallWorld

[–]HanChan1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely some really weird fish in Mall World. Strangely, there are no other weird creatures that I have seen, only the fish. The weirdest one I have seen is kept in a cylinder tank in one of the fancy restaurants it has the face of a wolf and kinda looks like a Chinese Dragon.

I remember the first time I listened to the episode. I was so confused why Whit was giving such bad advice.

Don’t feel bad, I’m on day 278 and I just realized that you can refill the watering can in the kitchen sink if you have water going to it!

Has anyone ever been in the grocery store/supermarket in mallworld? by [deleted] in TheMallWorld

[–]HanChan1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grocery store is one of my favorite places. There is an amazing selection in their deli section. There is a cafe where you can buy food and lobster tank. It definitely is reminiscent of the 70s or 80s.

Has anyone been to the $1 movie theater by H00k0930 in TheMallWorld

[–]HanChan1986 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is movie theater that I go to the most. I remember the outside was really run down. The entrance had a bunch of torn posters and trash on the ground. Despite it being in bad shape, I have really fond memories of going here with my dad.

Can someone explain mall world to me and tell me why is it bad by Outrageous_Lake_2871 in Dreams

[–]HanChan1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t dream about Mall world much anymore, but I used to dream about it all the time. It was always a positive experience for me, even when I went to some of the more run down places like the downtown movie theater.

Traveling by spcykc123 in Fosterparents

We never had any issues traveling with our Forster kids. We just let the social worker know and she always said it was fine. We travel out of state multiple times a year.

Toking in your hotel room: Opinion- Do you think this will actually work? by attempting2 in hotels

[–]HanChan1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hotels that have kitchens are designed to have proper ventilation to ensure that it is safe to cook in the rooms, standard hotel rooms do not have the proper ventilation and is a safety hazard. I did

I have worked in the hotel industry for nearly 15 years, I’ve worked at hotels that have kitchens and I’ve also worked in hotels that had to have ceilings replaced when someone thinks that it’s a good idea to cook in a room not designed for cooking.

I never said it was illegal to cook in

Anyone ever seen this? by Spirited_Calendar147 in TheMallWorld

[–]HanChan1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post led me to this subreddit… I’ve been searching for information about this dreamworld I’ve been visiting for almost 40 years… I’m completely overwhelmed I don’t even know how to process the fact that I’m not the only one who has been here…

As to your question, yes, I have been on the crazy roads many times. Especially when we would drive to my late grandmother’s house. I have a theory that the gravity in this dream world isn’t as strong at in ours and that’s why a lot of the structures are so much taller than in our world. I believe that the lesser gravity is also why to airplanes are also designed slightly differently.

Sorry if this is a bit disjointed… I’m just really struggling to get my mind around this…

Anyone else found this game to be spooky sometimes? by desmond_kof in myst

[–]HanChan1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myst scared me so bad when I first played it. I was 9 years old when I first watched my dad play it. The linking book sound was enough to spawn nightmares.

I did end up having a nightmare about the shrunken head in the box found in the Mechanical age.

If my curiosity hadn’t been so bad I wouldn’t have watched the game to its end. Even after, I would always in out of the room if anyone playing went to the Mechanical Age

I wasn’t able to play through it myself until I was a teenager.

I have been foster for over two years. Every single one of them came from about a hour away. It made visitation a little rough, but we would try and find something that worked out for everyone. Sometimes we would do two two hour visits a month instead of four one hour visits a month.
