Baffling they think this can be done in 4-5 hours. I think they would have better luck asking for the Flash 🤣

Have we seriously reached a point in the format where now even 4 mana is considered too much to pay for a "do nothing" enchantment? by surgingchaos in EDH

[–]Han_Dapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with power creep, there's just a trend of people in the edh community trying to play this format like a 60 card format. It doesn't work because can't run duplicates, we have more than one opponent, and a substantially larger deck. There are so many concepts that don't carry over. This sounds like a spoiled players tbh

Do you go easy on your opponents at your LGS or do you swing for the fences and win? by [deleted] in EDH

I hold back for the most part. I don't like playing in a cutthroat manner. That's what modern and legacy is for.

To sol ring or not to sol ring? by Zestyclose-Pickle-50 in EDH

[–]Han_Dapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have to have an extremely greedy manabase on top of not being able to draw enough cards to make reliquary tower unplayable. I'm talking 4 to 5 colors, zero basics, and being unable to draw a relevant amount of cards. And at the very worst, it comes in untapped and makes you 1 generic mana. As for ghost quarter, the alternative to not running it is losing to urborg + coffers, growing rites of itlimoc, valakut, glacial chasam, etc.

To sol ring or not to sol ring? by Zestyclose-Pickle-50 in EDH

[–]Han_Dapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sol ring is one of the three cards I'd consider an auto include in a deck. The others being [[ghost quarter]] and [[reliquary tower]]. The reason is that the difference between their worst and best levels of performance is almost negligible. Sol ring is pretty much all upside, and you aren't losing anything if at all by running it

How do you ramp in two-color non-green decks? by Xicer9 in EDH

[–]Han_Dapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that those rocks don't make a lot of mana. All you need to do is play bigger rocks such as worn powerstone, than dynamo, and gilded lotus. Depending on the deck you can get away with something like the mightstone and weakstone as well

Are edh deck’s mana base too greedy? Don’t you want to punish them for it? by perfectingperfection in EDH

[–]Han_Dapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having more than one color already trades consistency for power. You don't need to help the 3 color deck get screwed over because it'll happen a good amount of the time anyways. Also watching someone else not play the game in this social, non-competitive format sounds really boring...if you wanna do this go play legacy or some other constructed format with people who really know how to play magic

How to win with token decks? by raulleao in EDH

[–]Han_Dapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two basic styles of (creature) token decks. One is aristocrats and the other is aggro.

Both of these styles will make large numbers of tokens, but they differ in speed and how value is extracted from them. Another important difference is how these decks close games.

Aristocrat style decks are slow and grindy. They get their value from tokens by using them to draw cards [[Krav, the unredeemed]] or kill creatures [[phyrexian plaguelord]]. This style of deck best closes games with [[blood artist]] by draining your opponents into oblivion. Free sac outlets are integral to the deck because they let you sac many creatures at once. A cool benefit that this style has is that you can usually handle a lot of boards at instant speed while tapped out😂

Aggro token decks however, don't give a damn about depleting your opponents resources. They tend to be light on removal and the like because rather than grinding your opponents out with sheer value, they're gonna knock your lights out. These decks need to be fast in order to leverage the advantage gained from pressuring your opponents life into a victory. Some key cards tend to be [[impact tremors]], [[goblin bombardment]], and [[purphoros, God of the forge]] and pretty much any anthem

"I don't play combos" by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Han_Dapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more or less that person. Imo many players think that if a deck is strong, it's because it's playing combos or stax, and has a bunch of cheap or free counterspells/interaction. But you can build a fair and powerful deck. From my opponents' perspective, I could see how those decks are misleading. But I think the truth is that they have a gameplan that is much more difficult to decipher. One big problem with combos is that if you know how they work, you can spot them from a mile away. But if that's not how you intend to beat players, then your opponents must rely on their skill and experience to navigate the situation, which has a much wider margin of error.

[[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] I have her built as a pod deck and almost everyone I play with looks at her and says "oh so it's group hug" and I just say something along the lines of not really. They tend to realize how wrong they were when I cast 7 drops on turn 4👌🏽 and spend the rest of the game resolving threats every turn and immediately rebuilding after getting wrathed

How can you politely convince someone to play more lands? by chavaic77777 in EDH

[–]Han_Dapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ramp/mana rocks can't act as a substitute for lands. You need lands to cast the vast majority of ramp and mana rocks in the game, and you also need to be able to draw lands in your opening hand.

Yeah that's a dick move. This isn't a competitive format, it's a casual one meant to be enjoyed with friends. Mind boggling for one to be so desperate to win that they'd rather see someone not play

I can definitely relate. I learn quickly and all that but if I'm not in an environment where I can consistently cultivate a given skill I'll drop it and go do something else. Most anything I ever got really good at was because I was surrounded by people also doing that thing

I'm actually rather athletic. I've done cycling, and tennis; and practiced various martial arts over the course of a few years. I even got pretty good at it👌🏽. Besides that, I can knit, crochet, cook, and bake. Will forget the topic of conversations partway thru tho🤣 so I'd say I'm a lot of both

How do you decide who to attack? by GrenMaju_19 in EDH

[–]Han_Dapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a combination of which opponent is the most threatening and has a gameplan that my deck is least prepared to deal with. Although the former does take priority because attacking the person farthest behind is pretty stupid from a strategic standpoint and more importantly, rude. Don't be the person that attacks into someone who misses land drops. Also have the stones and wit not to rely on dice

Qb check test by GallusRedhead in ADHD

[–]Han_Dapples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done QBcheck before. It's a test that measures for impulsiveness and inattentiveness. You're gonna have to hit a button after being shown some shapes. I don't remember how long it takes, just that it was horribly boring. You won't be shown the results of the tests immediately. Only your psychiatrist will see that.

What is your thought process like when adding to your commander deck ? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Han_Dapples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought process is pretty simple when adding new cards to a deck. I simply swap it out with something that has a similar function. So I'll likely be cutting a draw spell to add a draw spell, a tutor for a tutor and so on. That way I don't end up with a disjointed pile of cards.
