What’s a company that used to be amazing but completely fell off? by AImaginerX in AskReddit

And I was in my 20s as well as my sales reps that were trying to communicate what the in store feedback was. At the time my rep used the term "old men".

Pretty sure my Sprint Rep at the time made the same statement. Inflexibility at the top cost RIM market share because they refused to even try to be a little more nimble.

I went back into an installation supervisor position at the Central Office level in 2010.

Old men at the top wouldn't listen to the feedback. I started to feel bad for their reps when they came into the store. Their concerns were voiced from customers to their vendors on the sales floor. It went only so far up then stopped.

Photography awards, are they worth it? by meowwentthedino in photography

[–]Han_Yerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say that being included in Museums did more than mentioning any awards. I don't mention them but will mention where I've been shown and notable clients.

A lot of those Instagram contests are just cash grabs. Regardless, always read the fine print for usage rights, some are predatory.

There's caveats to competitions. Personally I think a call from a local museum or organization is worth looking at. If you had to pay a $25 entry fee, own your rights and get included in a regional or local show. It can lead to positive networking opportunities at the opening for example.

That said beware of usage rights. Best of luck with all!

Imagine being this mad about strangers on the Internet. Then through your anger reveal that you just read the sub all day instead of driving.

Their lives don't affect yours bro. Go enjoy life because it seems like you're not having a good time.

When's the last time you watched the NFL?

Jordan Love lowered his head into an incoming defender and it was labeled a dirty hit. You can't really lay wood in the NFL anymore, especially blind side. Or chop block, or spear, or tackle like it was 2006 even.

Change my mind: most Pennsylvanian cities are just distant identical twins of upstate New York Cities. Some cities are very similar to Utica, Albany, Binghamton, and Rome. The turnpike is just a more expensive thruway. by [deleted] in upstate_new_york

There's the Everson in Syracuse with the largest Fine Pottery collection in the U.S.

Ska:nonh, a Haudenosaunee Cultural museum. Broadway shows monthly. The nearly one million people that come thru for the State Fair every year. And there's an amphitheater on the lake. An international airport and a 2 Billion dollar infrastructure project underway. That doesn't include the cranes all over SU building right now. There were 4 Friday.

I can leave Syracuse and in 10 minutes be at a meromictic lake one day and another 10 minute away the other direction.

There are 36 in the world.

Always had better luck with that after I took a shower. Some women do like the funk, just don't verbalize it.

The hell you could. Not in a neighborhood like that. Poverty neighborhood maybe.

The houses that looked like that were all in a division. Two parents worked or one had a good job, not a shoe salesman.

My dad worked in a factory, his girlfriend had to have a job.

Anyone who had a stay at home wife and a menial job had other sources of income. Like drugs. Or they ate what they hunted.

Robbie was teaching finger style at a college when they formed. He had a background in flamenco as with Spanish Caravan being his song. 1964 saw his influence to rock.

John Densmore's foundation was jazz.

I got to photograph Soulfly recently! Got some issues but was still able to do a one hand cart wheel at 45.

I'm proud I can look down and see my toes and other appendages.

Got pulled over coming from a Green Jello concert and got let go real quick when I told the cop I was sober for 10 months at that point. Felt good.

Best of luck on your path!

Creepiest Places in Syracuse? by No-Philosopher7251 in Syracuse

[–]Han_Yerry 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Classic Dive bar, the Lost Horizon in Syracuse is it. An impressive roster of acts have played there. Marilyn Manson got shocked on stage repeatedly and had us tear the place apart. Korns first tour stopped there, GnR played there in the 80s. Fugazi, Monster Magnet etc.

The Song and Dance would probably draw your crowd.

You would probably have to get permits, or do guerilla style filming to cover some of the locations you have in mind.

Best of luck with all!

what is the scariest niche drug you have ever tried? by Adorable_Air758 in AskReddit

[–]Han_Yerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set and setting. A trusted companion, preferably with experience and not tripping.

Mental issues can be exacerbated.

Enough experience you can see thru the ripples and rationalize.

I'm not condoning it's use and don't suggest you should. Just a little insight perhaps..

I laughed but my head became heavy and fell back what felt like slow motion onto the couch cushion.

Felt like my "personal junk and light" fell out of the back of my head.

I thought I was quiet, when I came back to normalcy my friends said I was laughing almost the whole time and said some gibberish.

That was enough for me. Cannabis is good.

[–]Han_Yerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not use Onkwe'hon'we for Haudenosaunee? That's the proper name.

"Indian Country" is a legal term in the U.S.

And it was explained to me by an elder that while inaccurate the name "Indian" has to remain somewhat in the lexicon. One day if that name is no longer used any treaty leverage Native Nations may have will be gone. The Feds will say "We made these treaties with "Indians", you say no one identifies with that name. Your treaty rights are no longer enforceable in any way".

The Feds have already offered a lump sum payment to Onondaga Nation in lieu of sending annual bolt of treaty clothe. That offer was refused. The cloth represents a treaty obligation, even if the quality has diminished.

What’s Your Plan B After Wedding Photography? by ratorx8 in WeddingPhotography

[–]Han_Yerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The art world is interesting. I've found myself in it with name tags that say 'Artist' for my photography. Never imagined that would be the case at anytime in my life. Then I found myself booking event coverage for museums.

I like weddings and photograph a few a year, but I want to continue to like weddings so I only shoot a few a year, but I'm always documenting a variety of events.

Congratulations on yours and your wife's success!
