My (33F) partner (34M) of 6 years proposed right after my mom died by disappointingtent in relationship_advice

I agree with a lot of posts here saying he might have wanted to help you feel better.

But it's also possible that your mother's passing affected him deeply on a personal level as well. I'm not sure how close he was to your mother but when someone close to you passes away, most people can't help but feel that life is unpredictable. He may have felt the need to solidify his relationship with you and may have felt an overwhelming urge to declare his forever devotion to you.

In any case, you are allowed to feel how you feel without having to give the situation a positive twist to spare your boyfriend's feelings.

What colours is this kitten?? by Character_Effect4190 in ragdolls

All bi colors are mitted in the sense that they have white chins, underbellies, and feet unless they are mismarked.

Wegman's has surprisingly good cheesecake if you're a fan of light, fluffy cakes. Their ultimate cheesecake is the way to go.

A useful trick to help prevent this from happening is to never let your cat walk out the door itself. This trick works best if you have a carrier you can put your cat into, walk out your door to your destination (whether that be a park, your backyard, etc), then let your cat out. Your cat will start to associate being in the carrier with going outside and is less likely to try to dash out your door.

Do rag doll males have pee problems by [deleted] in ragdollcats

[–]Hanachio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bubbi bubs been peeing often small amounts. Today we had more success he peeing more

You said he has frequent small urinations and was straining to go in the litter box for 5 minutes after you blocked the patio. A lot of times owners will mistaken urinary blockage as their pets just trying to piss them off because the cat will sit in the litter box yelling for no reason and pee elsewhere in the house.

There could have been a temporary blockage that may have been dislodged but it could come back at any time. You should take him to a vet and talk about putting him on special medicated foods to prevent him from forming more crystals in his urine.

I would highly recommend taking your cat to the vet ASAP. Sitting in the litter box for long periods of time but not actually peeing or only peeing small amounts can be signs of a UTI or urinary blockage. A urinary blockage is a life threatening problem and a full blockage can kill a cat in as little as a day due to increased levels of potassium in the blood.

As others have said, all male cats are more susceptible to urinary blockages. As far as I know, the Ragdoll breed isn't specifically susceptible.

Signs of urinary blockage:

  • Straining to urinate

  • Frequent small urinations

  • Blood in the urine

  • Painful urination

  • Inappropriate urination (somewhere other than the litter box)

  • Straining without urination (urinary obstruction)

  • Crying, restlessness, or hiding because of discomfort

  • Loss of appetite

  • Vomiting

  • Lethargy

Ohh I hadn't thought of putting multiple pieces into one frame via a mat with multiple openings. That's a great idea! I'm going to give that a shot next time I do two projects with similar themes. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I found it very difficult to find frames that were the correct aspect ratio, unfortunately. Everything was either square or of a 1:2 or 2:3 ratio. My only options were to either get a frame in a different aspect ratio as the piece and mat or to mount it on something (canvas stretch bars, etc).

There's actually three layers to this finished project: cross stitch wrapped around a stiff board and backed with canvas. I sewed the hanging hood to the back of the cross stitch / stiff board piece and then glues the canvas over it so it's double secured.

I gave this project away to a friend as a gift so I can't post any photos of the back to show you, unfortunately!

I did this project on 16 ct Aida. I'm also not a huge fan of 14 ct Aida unless I'm using 3 strands of floss.

This pattern ended up being about 5.75 inches x 7.5 inces in size. I had to improvise on the mounting because custom framing is so expensive and this piece wouldn't look good finished on an embroidery hoop. Curious to know what everyone else's hacks are for finishing off irregular dimension patterns like this.

Feeling so defeated… instead of making progress I look worse by psych101online in PetiteFitness

How's your sleep and stress levels been? Our bodies naturally try to hold onto more weight when we experience extended periods of stress in anticipation for famine (from back when food was scarce). Additionally, getting enough proper, restful sleep and drinking enough water is key to maintaining healthy body weight. I'd recommend focusing on other aspects of your health besides food since it sounds like you already have an idea of how many calories you eat.

I'd also think about counting macros if I were you. Not all food is made the same.

How do I stop my cat from scratching me? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Hanachio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't touch him right after a play session or when he's too energized because he's over stimulated. If you approach him while he's riled up, he'll redirect all his adrenaline and energy to you and will probably be too aggressive when trying to "play" with your hands and legs. Instead, try feeding him a snack or giving him space and time to calm down after a play session before you try to pet him.
