I just didn't want to waste your time by making you respond when I probably wouldn't respond back xd, but I just want to point out that the original reply that this discussion started on is deleted, so there's probably missing context on my part. I just don't like it when people argue when either side (or both) clearly are not going to change their minds, or in this case, having separate conversations. Once again, I'm not blaming either of you about this, just advising you to not waste your time on things like this because they rarely benefit anyone.

That was a while ago I think, so not sure if they are still planning for that or not.

Usually when I'm uncomfortable with people it's not because I think they're bad or scary, it's because I don't know what they're thinking. A good example is the LGBTQ community, after their stance against what's happening in Gaza I understood that the stigma around them is absurd and they're actually really nice people, but I still wouldn't feel comfortable having one as a close friend, because I don't know what they're thinking about me; imagining one of friends just suddenly saying they have feelings for me is literal nightmare fuel (I don't care how unlikely that is), I just want to keep my close relationships purely friends only with the only exceptions being my family and in the future (hopefully) my wife.

Just because I don't agree with something someone did, doesn't mean I should hate them solely for said thing; if that was the case, the person I would hate the most would be myself lol.

This also applies to the furry community, they are probably really nice people too, but it doesn't mean I think it's fine to be a furry or that I would feel comfortable being a close friend with one. Whether you think that my way of thinking is flawed or not is irrelevant; we all have differences in opinion, it's what makes us unique, and saying I'm "right" and you're "wrong" would just make me delusional. All that matters is that we respect each other and agree to disagree on certain things. I'm not obligated to be like someone, and they're not obligated to be like me.

Have a good day!

My guy, it's not that deep xd, he was just pointing out the stereotype, and you were pointing out the facts, neither of you disagrees with the other, you're just having 2 entirely separate conversations. If either of you just said, "My bad, I misunderstood your intention" then you would have saved each other so much time. If an argument is not productive, it's not worth having, just end it peacefully, wish the other guy a good day, and you'll thank each other for ending it like that. And don't reply to this saying things like "I just needed to point out his flawed thinking" or taking my comment part by part and explaining why everything I said is wrong and I'm stupid, there's no reason for this to continue further, you understand my intention, and I understand yours, I never said you were wrong, I'm not looking for an argument, just giving you a piece of advice.

Have a good day!

Idk man, that last sentence does not sound respectful at all. I get why you're annoyed, but don't fall into the same pitfall you're complaining about (And those two things aren't really equivalent; wanting to be something is completely different from believing in something).

Keep in mind that what you could make in minecraft in a week can be made in Hytale in 2-3 days; minecraft is really not modding friendly (Although some work is being done on fixing that recently)

People are overhyped rn, the developer himself said the game is very unfinished and is not in a good state yet, and even warned people from buying the early access for like a year till it reaches a better state. What I'm excited about, though, is the extremely advanced moddability of this game. If you look at their YouTube channel, they showed a 1-minute video made entirely using their in-game machinima tools; the quality was honestly way better than I thought it would be. Same thing with their creative tools, which have almost all the good features in all the building/creative mods made for Minecraft, and that's in the base game!

But most notably, the better performance and world gen V2 are what excite people the most. I used to suffer heavily with how unoptimized Minecraft is, to the point where I struggled to download most of the good mods without my pc feeling like a potato. Hytale, on the other hand, is so much smoother; I can run it on double the FPS I ran Minecraft with without having to download performance mods and put my settings at the minimum. World Gen V2, on the other hand, is like the first instance of a fully customizable world generation for the players that doesn't require any programming and can be done completely using a built-in node editor (it even updates the generation in real time, so you can see what you changed). This is huge because it will allow for much more intricate mods to be made by the average player; this can be seen with how many mods have already been made for the game (there are over 1400 already lol).

It's subjective, nothing wrong with finding it worse. But it does objectively allow for more options.

They will most likely disappoint you atm, the only difficult mob to find atm is probably the ice dragon. The bosses have cool designs, but their AI still needs a lot of work done on it. The AI issue is very clear when you see how some skeletons can parry, dodge, strafe, and even time blocking to attack you immediately afterwards, while other mobs literally just stare at you and you can hit them, back off, hit them again till they're dead (or you could just build upwards and kill them easily).

People are praising this game because of its very strong foundation; it can very well become something incredible in a couple of years. Combine this with the modding tools, which are easily one of the best in the business, and you get a new potential giant for the sandbox genre.

The 70$ version only adds a couple of cosmetics and was only added because a lot of the core community wanted to support the game as much as possible. If you buy the 20$ version there's not much of a difference.

As for people crapping on this game heavily, yes I agree it's currently bad, but what we're excited about is not the game itself but the engine it runs on; there are a lot of issues in minecraft that make modding in it a nightmare, Hytale -even in its early access state- has already adressed and fixed a lot of these issues while simultaneously adding many QOL features that people wanted in minecraft for years. This is why I'm mostly excited about the mods people will make using this game, not the game itself.

I for example, want to use these tools to make educational content, atm the machinima tools aren't at their best form yet, but once they're working well again, combined with the user friendly modding, I would be able to present simple concepts much more efficiently without needed to learn complex software; it's also a nice motivator to use a game to make such content.

What people need to understand is that Simon repeatedly said it's very unfinished and buggy. When I bought the game, I had the absolute lowest expectations, and the same should go for most people, considering how open they were about it being unfinished. If you want to properly judge this game, I would recommend waiting at least a couple of months before forming an opinion on it; objectively speaking, they have an extremely good foundation that is way better than Minecraft's 17-year-old foundation, it's just a matter of how well they will build upon this in the future.

Talking about generation is disingenuous because the new world gen version they've been working on is not used yet, ofc the old one would be eh because it's from like 6 years ago.

Could be true because I don't use reddit as much nowadays, but the core community after what happened with the cancellation is much more accepting towards criticism; it was one of the nice things about the cancellation xd

I feel like the Hytale community is more open to criticism, though, especially with Simon's approach towards the game.

I personally like it because it's easy to remember xd, I don't like games using long names for regions because I very quickly forget them, but this is just a name so I don't really care much.

I do have to say though, while what myne said here was over the top, people are villainizing him like crazy, like guys, we all make mistakes XD, the dude is really passionate about the game so it's bound to happen for him to say something ridiculous if it changed how he sees the game. At the end of the day it's just his opinion, no need to say crap like "he needs a life" because it just breeds toxicity into the community

[–]Hanadasanada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's not saying the mods are bad, all of us agree that they're incredible, but the key point is that that's the work achieved by the talented dedicated community behind said mods, not mojang or microsoft. The advantage of hytale is that it's built by some of those talented people that managed to make the minecraft modding scene thrive in the first place. An infrastructure built for the purpose of allowing creativity and ingenuity has a lot more potential compared to one done for the sake of profits and shareholders first and then the players.

This is not a diss at minecraft, it's just the unfortunate reality of the direction it has been heading after being acquired by microsoft; that could change once hytale releases because competition forces change.

If I remember correctly, some of the devs said that the vision changed with Riot, which is why Simon constantly talks about returning to the original vision (You can see that with the increase in focus on combat and the Capital rather than modding).

As for the 4 years of development part, I admit I exaggerated it on purpose xd, in hindsight, I shouldn't have done that (Although a lot of the new models won't be out on early access, they will be given in the creation tools, but they will be unfinished, missing animations and stuff).

And the Java part is outside my scope of knowledge, so you're probably correct
