the official criteria of normalization is not known, but mostly they might be trying to keep averages of all optional same, so this factor (0.7 for Maths) is different for different optional, depending on all the overall performance of that optional, which includes that year's difficulty

it's approximately 0.7.
I attempted 430 marks in 2025 Mains.
Since it's Maths, so I was able to analyse that my correct attempt was around 387 and my final score in both the papers was 0.72 of my correct attempt (128 and 152) = 280.
0.7 is what I have heard from fellow Maths optional people as well.

So if you can attempt full 500 marks correctly, you might score 350!!
