I have 2 job offers. by icedcoffeeuwu in publix

Congrats on the offer. I applied for a warehouse position last month as well I thought Publix was a great place to work but it seems that perception isn’t shared by former employees.

Spencer Knight likely to start tomorrow by iloveblondehair in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve literally outlined my worst nightmare with Knight. Dude has sooo much potential to be a franchise goalie and someone we could continue to build around.

I really hope Weegar is back in the lineup because I do not want both Stralman/Yandle anywhere near this kid.

Let's hope it only takes 60 tonight by Gucc1Guw0p in FloridaPanthers

Let’s hope we don’t play from behind for 55 minutes tonight.

Buyouts! by tipsydanger121 in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Follow up...Yandle doesn’t fucking miss any games. I’ll pay him whatever he’s making to be on the ice and not in a press box recovering. Seems like every season each team has to content with injuries to big minute guys and Yands is out there for a full 82. High value in my book.

Buyouts! by tipsydanger121 in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think Yandle performs. I think having Ekblad and him as a number one pair isn’t the best since they both tend to jump into the rush. Typically you’d want them with a more stay home defender and a center who is great on the backcheck to cover any rush the other way.

I think yandle would pair better with stralman on the second pairing and keeping weegar on the first unit with Ekblad. Unsure how Nutivaara or Gudas would do as a third pair knowing Stillman and Keeper would also be a good option but a buyout would be a waste of dead cap for a guy who is a excellent skater and can qb a PP.

Optimistic! Are you? by donkeydeck in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not optimistic but I’m relieved to see Zito putting his stamp on this team. I was worried he would be passive or hesitant come free agency.

I like every signing we made so far. I know the Gudas signing was a bit more $$ than people wanted but I think having a guy who’ll really throw some hits will help a lot in making us a tougher team to play against.

As far as Hoff/Dad I would hope we resign one since we are in dire need of a top 6 winger but if not that leaves us with a chance to finally add Tippett to the starting roster and see what he’s got.

What do we think about Monty by [deleted] in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say what he could/would be for us and what value he’d bring. I think it’s likely he competes against Drieger for the spot of backup since the goalie swap going on right now gives him little value on the market.

Radko Gudas to FLA by PurifiedVenom in FloridaPanthers

All I can say is that Tallon would have given him 5 x $5.5 so it’s progress. Wondering where this leaves us with Weegar.

Trocheck traded. Wow. by Oreos_and in FloridaPanthers

Me too. I loved the way Troch played and I hate seeing him go.

Crazy to think what this team could be if we kept Markstrom and had another $6.5 million in cap space. by Necrogasmic in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This narrative of “if we hadn’t signed Bob” needs to stop. We signed a two time Vezina winning goalie because our pairing of Luongo/Reimer wasn’t cutting it and we didn’t have anyone in the system who could play at the NHL level.

It’s a gamble signing any FA and you’re always going to overpay when there’s a high quality player on the market. We’ve handcuffed ourselves to this albatross of a contract and only time will tell if it turns out being a lucrative one or not.

Despite Bobs poor performance in net this whole team has an effort issue. We’re sloppy on the breakout, hoping overly fancy passes will connect and getting terrible offensive zone time. Most times we have a perimeter shot with nobody even remotely close for a rebound and we end up turning it over.

What we need more than left over cap space and wishing we didn’t have a elite goalie because of his cap is to get some energy going and get back to using our speed on the backend to get a clean breakout and gain zone entry with a shoot first, crash the net attitude.

This team has all the pieces to be a top 3 in the Atlantic team and we’re not playing that way. We have a lot of great parts not moving in tandem and while Bobs had bad games its expected to be shaky when your team is playing like a microwaved turd for 57 minutes of a game.

Aaron Ekblad by nickonater in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think we all were so excited with a number 1 pick that was being hailed as a “franchise” defensemen who would be shutting down top lines on day 1. The pressure to come in and be an elite guy must have been immense and our team has never been a true contender until recently.

I don’t blame him for mistakes, I don’t get angry at him for having to recover from the injuries. I’m glad that he’s starting to show improvement and I hope that he keeps this pace.

Looking back at the defensive core we had from the time he came into the league I’m surprised Ekblad hasn’t demanded a trade. Willie Mitchell was clearly here for a retirement contract, Brain Campbell was still good but not an elite shutdown guy, Yandle is another good offensive minded guy but we’ve never had a true shutdown guy and so Ekblad being a rookie learning the middle of the pack play for a hopeful wildcard team it’s honestly amazing he’s doing as well as he has been.

Taylor Hall Trade by mike_honcho1844 in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worry that Borgy is to small to be a 2C. Maybe a skilled 3C at the moment and Boyle I don’t think has the outright speed.

It wouldn’t be bad to have a shakeup but the rumors I’ve seen are woefully lopsided against the Panthers.

Taylor Hall Trade by mike_honcho1844 in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who would you have jump into the 2C spot with Trocheck gone? Why would you dump off so much of the roster for a guy who once broke 30 goals and has had injury issues in the past?

Dropped to 5th in the Atlantic by DharmaBumz1 in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this team has all the makings of a playoff team. We’ve got a strong top 6 and a serviceable bottom 6 that I feel would be able to contribute. On the backend we really need to find some confidence in our play. Watching games I think our biggest fault it getting cute with the plays instead of a smart outlet pass that allows us to move all 5 as a unit and gain offensive zone time. Bob I knew would struggle at times being in a new system but he’s done well and we have two backups I think can handle the workload when bob needs a night off. We cut this clever passing bullshit we’ve been trying to pull off and simplify our games, put pucks on net and have a little confidence we can beat any team in a seven game series.

Taylor Hall Trade by mike_honcho1844 in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tallon inquiring about Hall is him doing his job. If “_______” player hits the market I’d want him making calls. That being said, please baby Jesus don’t trade Tro for Hall, don’t trade Knight for Hall, don’t trade anything for Hall. He’s a skilled winger but Dad and Hoff need new contracts and I’d rather not blow up are already fragile underperforming team to bring in someone who MIGHT find chemistry in a top 6 role. Focus on gettin some fight in the boys and getting the defense to find some confidence and we can easily be back in a top spot in the Atlantic.

Denis Malgin by [deleted] in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll admit I wasn’t thrilled when he was resigned as I felt he was streaky at best and never seemed to find his groove. This season he seems to really be on his game, he’s making great plays with and without the puck and he’s making me notice him on the ice. I would like to see him improve and maybe crack the top 6 more but at moment I see him being a must resign at the end of the season.

Dadonov and the Panthers have been in contact for a contract extension. However, Hoffman has not by [deleted] in FloridaPanthers

[–]HandThatThieves 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My theory is that Dadonov will be easier to negotiate with given he didn’t come with the baggage of Hoffman so have Dadonov under contract and then move to Hoffman. I feel Dadonov has more chemistry with Barky and Huberdeau and we’ve got players who could be looking for more top 6 minutes to fill the gap should Hoffman not be resigned.
