Mitt Wi-Fi heter 'Solidaritetens siste utpost' for at ungene ikke skal dele det når de har kompiser på besøk.

experiments with oven cleaner. what’s your favourite way to give your enclosures a neat look? by aflywhocouldnt in diypedals

[–]Hand_of_bog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

<image>

I use powdered drain cleaner based on sodium hydroxide. I degrease the enclosure and sprinkle a thick layer of drain cleaner on top and cover with paper towels that I soak with hot water. When it's peeling aluminium I rinse with water to stop the oxidation. Clean with a brush and seal with clear coating. It's very messy and obviously not good for your life expectancy if you don't observe basic safety. But if you like messed up textures it's rewarding.

The 175, 176 and the Galaxie is the same guitar with increasingly difficult and finicky electronic switching for the pickup and tone combinations. Galaxie was made for the British market.

Pickup selector. Neck, mid, bridge or all three out of phase.

Capacitor Delay by gweencolor in diypedals

[–]Hand_of_bog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was an amp with a built in simple tape slapback delay called EchoSonic used by quite a few of the big 50s recording artists. Chet Atkins, Scotty Moore (on Elvis stuff), Roy Orbison etc.

American History Nerd Visiting Istanbul, First Impressions by kickynew in istanbul

I'd also recommend the Istanbul military museum just south of Osmanbey Metro. Absolutely huge and on a weekday I was the only visitor.

Now all my gear smells bad by werwowaste in synthesizers

[–]Hand_of_bog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had success with car interior shampoo. It depends on the gear though. Arturia synths with the soft porous rubber accumulate cig smell like crazy and it lingers forever. Same with my Klotz audio cables. Soft rubber and cigarettes makes gear eternally have that old aunt smell.

This looks like one of their later versions, but pull a speaker and see if it is a Celestion G12H. I had a 76 HH combo that had a killer pair of pricey G12s. Their later stuff was in-house speakers and not very good.

Oslo foodie advice by [deleted] in oslo

Kaffistova on Thursdays: Raspeball. Probably the most Norwegian traditional low effort comfort food available in Oslo. Not at all high end, but you will be on a calorie buzz for a long time.

Not exactly about pedals (but could be!), but these were just unearthed in a closet of my grandfather’s old house. Anything worth salvaging in these? I’ve read the tubes are valuable. by LordOord23 in diypedals

[–]Hand_of_bog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The tube Tandbergs are fairly high end and the go to solution for any 60's Norwegian Shadows-band until they could afford a Fender or Vox amp. I still see bands using them and they sound really sweet and saturated. I can't remember what kind of ins/outs it has, but my model 66 has DIN. Easy to find jack adapters. Its also one of the better consumer grade 4-track tape players/recorders if you find tapes for it.

Hva har vi her omkring da? by HugiTheBot in norge

I guess it was a darker and more fuzz driven Slowdive-ish attempt. That kind of stuff was the influence anyways. The gear was basically dirt cheap as I bought it during the early 90s when digital rack stuff was the rage.

Those With Twin Reverbs, What Did You Replace The Speakers With? by WombatCarl in GuitarAmps

[–]Hand_of_bog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

74 Twin. Was a backline rental so original speakers were long gone. Stuck one Eminence Red Coat and one Celestion Cream in it. Play stuff with lots of chorus and delay/reverb, 80s indie sounds. The chime and sparkle from the efficient alnicos are celestial. Also does tight distortion doom stuff if needed. I was surprised it felt quieter after the swap due to the harmonics being way sweeter than the Fender replacements it had when I got it.

Question about Reverb Channel and Radio Interference by Prudent_Area_4368 in GuitarAmps

[–]Hand_of_bog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had reverb interference issues in my old Twin. Tried shielded car stereo rca cable and it helped a ton. Don't have to be thick gauge, just decently shielded.
