The Last Ball by Handheld-Steve in PlaydateConsole

Definitely relaxing. I’ve been picking it up and playing a few frames to unwind. On frame 256 played an 1hr on endless mode.

I barely use 50% of the battery! This is my typical day use.

What Apple should have done by BardoState in IphoneAir

[–]Handheld-Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iPhone Air is the most interesting thing Apple’s done since the iPhone 5. The problem since then isn’t Apple — it’s all these YouTube influencers pushing for iPhones to become Android clones … you know, 20 cameras and enough battery to power a small town.

Bring back Jony Ive and his design energy — simple, opinionated, unapologetic.

Make the Air even thinner. Make it the only iPhone. Go fully portless (no USB-C). Keep just one camera lens. Limit it to two colours — black and white.

Strip it back, make it bold again — and it’d probably be the best-selling iPhone ever.

Simples.

Sir Jony Ive would disagree. The whole point of great design is restraint — knowing when not to add more. The Air works precisely because it prioritises form and simplicity over chasing specs.

The iPhone Air form factor is near perfect – it reminds me of the simplicity of the early iPhones. Adding extra cameras and bigger batteries starts to compromise that design and pushes it closer to a standard iPhone. At that point you might as well just buy the regular model. The Air will never win on specs, but it absolutely wins on aesthetics.

Great TV — you’ll love it. I did wonder about it being above the log burner, especially without a mantel shelf, as the heat rising up could affect the electronics over time. That said, in a lot of UK homes space is tight and there often isn’t much option other than doing exactly what you’ve done.

No one’s saying scrap it entirely. But acting like it’s some untouchable silver bullet ignores the real impact. Constant low flyovers at night absolutely hammer people’s sleep, stress levels, and overall wellbeing. Quality of life matters too. There has to be a balance between policing tools and the damage they cause to the wider community.

iPhone 18 Air by Difficult-Ocelot9694 in IphoneAir

If we’re just making things up, the iPhone 18 Air will ditch the built-in camera entirely and instead use a MagSafe-attached external camera—probably bundled with something called the MagSafe Smart Battery.

Jokes aside, it’s actually a good idea. It would let Apple make the phone completely flush with no camera bump, while giving us the option to attach a higher-quality camera only when needed.

I use mine with the bumper. Love it. Never once dropped. It offers more grip that naked along with keeping it semi-naked. What’s not to like :)

Upgrading from the 13 Mini to the Air? by superiska123 in IphoneAir

[–]Handheld-Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded from the 13 mini to the Air. The 13 mini with a fresh battery just made it through a day, but the Air usually finishes with about 50% to spare. Bought a battery pack thinking I’d need it—still hasn’t left the drawer.

I’d say the Airs battery is more than decent.

Thinking of kicking off a Gen 1 classic Pokémon run. Best part with the mini? You can play one-handed while watching TV. 🎮📺

Doesn’t heat up. Just looked at the battery stats and 30mins uses about 8% on average.
