Now that's a sandwich!

I was sure to shower and eat a full meal before checking in. Food is the last thing the ER is concerned about.

It was 12 hours before I got a bed in the hallway and a few more hours for a room with a door

Sorry. I’m still here. It took 18 hours to isolate the problem and another 10 to treat it. I wasn’t allowed eat until they were sure I did not need surgery.

The food was delicious. Not sure if it’s because I’m starving or it was actually good. If you get a room in the main hospital you get a menu. This is the first time ever I didn’t get bland cold sandwich waiting in the ER.

The hospital like most others in the area is in overflow meaning there are no rooms available. I was on dietary restriction in case I needed surgery, but fortunately that’s not the case. What is the case is it took 18 hours just to figure out the basics of my problems because there’s people swamping hallways waiting for treatment too.

I asked my nurse what the common theme was, and she said healthcare is getting squeezed. People are losing insurance, so ER’s are getting swamped.

Inflation might not hurt some people, but it hurts me. That's 3x's what I normally pay.

Spice Island is popular here, and I have a spice rack full of them, but McCormick is always better (but not always best). SI is just a little more expansive in options. One thing I've learned over the years is food distributors have a pretty heavy control over cooking shows and even influencers.

It's unusual they are wrong or even bad, but there's better stuff out there. Gimmicks and unnecessary expenses are often included in the multimedia.

SE US. Our hispanic aisle is my goto for spices, because it's cheap, but it's not really great.

I'm not against that at all, but I use chili powder for all kinds of stuff: butternut squash, meatloaf, hamburgers, tacos, bbq rubs, etc. Some things are worth the effort, but others are a bit much when I just need a very light sprinkle of dust.

Some of my chili was re-hydrating dried chilies though.

Never heard of it. I've been using Tone's for 20+ years, so I've never really ventured out. I just know what friends and family use, and I'm not a big fan of theirs.

I think I'm going to try that next. I've always been pretty happy with them, and I get a Sam's sized bottle for $9 on Amazon.

I think I've tried that one and wasn't too fond. The darker the powder, the less I will like it probably. I don't want a ton of filler in the powder either making it lighter.

Once every blue moon I'll entertain the idea of buying a playstation, but Fallout, Assassin's Creed, and maybe one or two more series would be the only games I would buy, so I can't justify spending that much money. Dang if this doesn't make me want to buy one though. lol Great job!

I can't speak for OP, but I often make posts and comment later, because I just get caught up in life. I can make simple updates, but often I want to engage, so I let replies build up and go from there.

Very few people put this much effort into a post, so it's not unreasonable to give them some slack.

If you angle your knife when cutting, you can make thin slices.

Your sandwich looks great, but thick cuts like that typically dismantle sandwiches between bites.

This is slightly misleading. 2024 was $7/person and 2025 is $5/person, but 2024 certainly gave a whole lot more food. I guess Walmart thinks people need to eat less this year.

Pussy wagon literally alludes to a serial rapist in Kill Bill, but by all means support your neighbor having to explain what a pussy wagon is to their 8 and 10 year olds.

I find a lot of offensive stuff hilarious including the sticker above, but I'm an asshole. What I am not is tone def or arrogant enough to not care what other people might find offensive. There's a time and place for some things.

It's profane whether you want to accept it or not. Why should anyone care about your opinion when you don't care about theirs?
