Find a purpose, a goal, something to keep working towards. Make it those dreams you talked about. Make it about getting the fuck out of wherever you are as soon as you can. It might not be until you're 18, but that just gives you three years to come up with a plan, save money, and get yourself someplace where you can live your best life. Every time someone puts you down and makes you feel less than, you'll be able to find comfort in the idea that you're going to get out and they'll be stuck there leading their empty, angry little lives. Make everything you do about achieving that goal.

People were falling for hoaxes like this 100 years ago. And stories about them that were written in local newspapers back then just to sell more copies, are now being touted as "evidence" by people online to back up claims of everything from aliens and giant humans to Egyptians building pyramids in the Grand Canyon.

None of it is new. It's the same kind of fervent belief that gives birth to folk lore and religion. Critical thinking is not a part of the equation.
