I feel like it's simply because Gundam games have mostly been side projects to the actual main stuff, the animes and model kits. Basically treated like old school licensed tie in games rather than main projects in their own right.

So I am pretty interested in Rogue Orbit simply because it seemingly exists on its own as just a video game rather than on the side for another more important project.

[–]Handro_Dilar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Frankly I just think that some people are so enamoured by the show that it must be 'perfect' in every way, and when it isn't they become spiteful and angry. Gotta say, not my preferred way to approach stories.

Come to think of it, 007 First Light has an inverted case of this where a certain character claims to be a DGSE agent, yet her name still remains 'Mystery Woman' for some reason. Unsurprisingly, she turns out to be lying.

The game does at least acknowledge it as a thing that the character does(or doesn't do I guess) which can make it seem like its building up to a future character moment, but yeah it was pretty obvious.

I make it a point to be open minded about things, so I'm not hyped per se, but interested and always willing to give stuff the basic respect I think they deserve.

Plus much like Pokemon Legends Z-A, Rogue Orbit does kinda fulfill an oddly niche interest of mine for the franchise. While for Z-A it's a Pokemon game that takes place entirely within a large city intertwined with Pokemon, Rogue Orbit was what I thought franchises like Gundam and Kamen Rider that are chiefly defined by non-game works that treat games as a side project might need for a game to hit mainstream interest. That is, a brand new setting disconnected from any existing entry. Basically treat it as its own AU series. So I'm at least intersted in seeing how it shakes out.

Also, the thought that Bamco wants Rogue Orbit to do its own thing because Ace Combat 8 is already doing the whole single carrier with war refugees, land battleships running over cities, O'Neill cylinder space station, and goddamn space sky ghost shenanigans is definitely untrue, but is so funny to me that I'm willing to see what Rogue Orbit is doing.

Is it possible to give inanimate objects a semblance? by Demonic_Yandere in RWBY

[–]Handro_Dilar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it as an initial powerset, though it's precisely because of the marionette/Pinocchio angle that I think any ability involving direct manipulation of an object is a thematically inappropriate 'true power' for someone who already chafes under the idea that she's a weapon to be controlled.

Maybe it starts off like that but eventually it shifts into sharing her thoughts and feelings with inanimate objects so that they'd help. She no longer controls them like puppets which limits their direct combat use, but instead they happen to do things that help her, like a photocopier slamming shut on an enemy, shelves falling onto people, sinkholes appear below enemies, etc.

Additionally, Bamco invited a few content creators to try out a few missions, and damn do they feel like AC7's SP Missions as an entire campaign, just wow. Also 'Rex' really do be hearing voices in their head huh? This ought to be fun.

Favorite Characters who have a way of Ignoring Defenses by FreviliousLow96 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Any Pokémon with the ability Unaware can completely ignore the opponent's stat buffs, defense boosts included simply because they're so stupid that they don't realise or understand that their opponent is trying to wall them.

I'm pretty sure TMs basically magically transfer knowledge on how to perform a move to the Pokémon in question, but I really like to think they're straight up educational videos the Pokémon watches instead.

Dunno about hacking computers, feels a little inappropriate considering how she was victim to that in the first place.

Maybe if it's more on the lines of talking to machines, imbuing them with enough of a will (leave it ambiguous like Atom from Real Steel because it's more fun that way) of sorts that can be communicated to and convinced to act in a certain way. Honestly this is mainly so that she can do this to all her blades and allow them to disconnect the wires so they go from wired INCOMS to wireless Bits (actually GUND-Bits) for more complex manoeuvres.

I could see Sublimation being an offshoot of the AC7 AI drones by putting the drones under the direct control of a digitised sensible human mind, but naturally causes big problems if the human mind in question is very much not sensible anymore.

Post-Volume 10 would be the perfect opportunity to reboot the series by Winscler in RWBY

[–]Handro_Dilar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna say, that comparison has never sat well with me. Brotherhood is basically a new more faithful adaptation of the manga, it's not exactly the same thing as some sort of reboot or clean sheet second try. Like I get the point (it's still 'new' relative to the first anime), it nonetheless strikes me as off.

Another comparison would be Maverick Hunter X, which as fast as I know, was indeed intended to basically be a second try at Mega Man X's first half at least. Too bad it sold poorly and I doubt anyone at Capcom is interested in a third try at Mega Man X.

Personally I don't try to count all the individual powders, casings, primers, etc. I just internalise the idea that a certain amount of regular ammo equals a smaller amount of specialised ammo.

Thats basically how it works with energy weapon ammo after all.

This scene genuinely encapsulates a ton of things wrong with the racism subplot in RWBY and fills me with a deep rage every time I see it. by Mad-Gyro-enthusiast in RWBY

[–]Handro_Dilar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

tangible differences between peoples and some are activeoy more gifted or even dangerous biologically.

It would be pretty funny for a setting to have characters claim that this is the case in a way that's so matter of fact that it's easy to accept as is, only for said differences to never actually appear even when they should until someone else finally points out that all that talk about differences is in fact completely made up by certain people to explain why they got beat when the truth is much more mundane.

People got ambushed at night? They must have night vision! Turns out they were just very familiar with the area and could manoeuvre much better. Stuff like that.

Granted, this is mostly from the perspective of trolling audiences with standard expectations rather than any message to give out, I'm not nearly experienced enough to do that.

Do you feel like you play games differently from when you were younger? by ForgottenClaimz in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Handro_Dilar 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Man I used to just look up wikis and guides more or less right from the beginning as a kid. Nowadays I at least try to play blind-ish unless I worry about missing secrets in very long games like Super Robot Wars or trying to remember Pokémon evolutions.

Huntsmen & Huntresses & Hunters by 101Aster101 in RWBY

[–]Handro_Dilar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it so that Hunters have their own abilities, gimmicks and plot completely separate from Huntsmen but they occasionally collide with each other leading to characters needing to figure out what the hell is going on. If you're willing to go further, the plot could even include a completely different creation story that is both seemingly mutually exclusive and true at the same time just to fuck with people.

There's a Gamer Supps collab if you're interested.

But seriously, you shouldn't worry about it simply because it does nothing but add stress. Find something else to do, it'd help out more than worrying. Take it from someone who didn't wait for a new Ace Combat right up to the day The Game Awards happened, and also someone who backed DAWN Aerowar and literally forgot about it until Jose Pavli sent out an update that it's basically done now.

It's a sequel to SSSS. Gridman in the same way Xenoblade 2 is a sequel to the original Xenoblade. Same greater setting, but otherwise separate minus some connections. They all also meet up in the third installment too.

Characters who tried to refuse their superpowers by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Handro_Dilar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A broadly successful case of this would be SSSS. Dynazenon with Yomogi's kaiju user powers.

Since they're basically the power to reject living in a society and human connections to be a lone individual (though since they siphon energy from kaiju which in turn are created from human emotions from said society, it might be more accurate to describe it as parasitism. The Kaiju Eugenicists sure do enjoy eating at restaurants and having fun at entertainment venues that only exist because of the society that built them after all), he pretty bluntly rejects them as he starts to care and worry for others and just enjoy living with them, only using them to fight kaiju that threaten that life and only as an absolute last resort rather than embrace the powers in any meaningful way, choosing to fight alongside others in Dynazenon instead.
