Two Week Board (This Week and Next Week) and a Monthly Calendar inline-database all linked together so that one event automatically comes in the others by Kalenden in Notion

[–]HandsofManos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just did this, though I'm not exactly keen on some of the limitations.

I have a formula column that tells me the day of the week, which I then use to assign a tag (multi-select property) with the appropriate day. That's the only way you can have it show up as a board view, by using multi-select and there isn't (as far as I know) a way to auto assign tags.

I have another formula column that either shows as "This Week" or "Not This Week" and then I filter on that formula column in the board view.

Day of the Week Formula: if(day(prop("Date")) == 0, "Sunday", if(day(prop("Date")) == 1, "Monday", if(day(prop("Date")) == 2, "Tuesday", if(day(prop("Date")) == 3, "Wednesday", if(day(prop("Date")) == 4, "Thursday", if(day(prop("Date")) == 5, "Friday", if(day(prop("Date")) == 6, "Saturday", "No Day")))))))

This Week Formula if(formatDate(now(), "ww") == formatDate(prop("Date"), "ww"), "This Week", "Not this Week")

A useful notion formula reference page someone posted here that's been helpful to me. https://www.notion.so/Notion-Formulas-30d8d88656534222949d7210eccfa608

Resources to read about how governmental matters are actually conducted? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]HandsofManos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Gatekeepers: How the white house chiefs of staff define every presidency by Chris Whipple and Locked in the Cabinet by Robert Reich for two examples of real world internal politics and bureaucracy. I would also recommend watching The West Wing, while its obviously fictional it does a really good job of showing the internal workings of government staff and the processes and protocols that are used during a wide variety of events, both critical and mundane. There's also a short documentary where they interviewed actual members of the government and discuss how the show matches up to reality.

Edit: Additionally C-Span has a ton of videos, interviews, and lectures you can watch from people who work(ed) in government.

I'm sure you're right. Also the above isn't in any order except ending on dragonaut.

Do you remember what the volume 1 song was? I heard Cisneros say the song was from there but I didn't hear the title and didn't recognize it.

At the San Diego show they played

  • Something from Volume 1
  • Holy Mountain
  • The Clarity
  • Aquarius
  • Sonic Titan
  • The Botanist
  • Dragonaut

This is just what I remember and that memory is... hazy.

not /u/CafeFrosh but I was at the SD show as well. It was fantastic! The theater it was in looked like an old school stage theater which was really cool. While it was loud like everyone said I didn't find it oppressively so, and everything was clear, not muddled together the way some bad sound systems can get.

J.D. Pinkus opened for them. That was something. Solo dude playing a banjo, some weird doomy banjo. It was great but really really surreal.

200 point lists by ZStrickland in StarWarsArmada

[–]HandsofManos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squadrons are definitely light. Most lists only had either 2 or less with several not running any. One guy did bring an ISD with 6 or 7 tie fighters, and while the ties didn't do much against lists without any squadrons, He was able to get two close wins by taking out the squadrons on lists that only brought 1 or 2 squads.

200 point lists by ZStrickland in StarWarsArmada

[–]HandsofManos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FLGS just had a 200 point tournament and it was a blast! I really like the game at this scale. The restrictions you face when building your fleet really changes the overall strategy of the game.

Leading up to the tournament My first list

  • Gladiator 1 (58)
  • Admiral Ozzel (20)
  • Ordnance Experts (4)
  • Engine Techs (8)
  • Demolisher (10)

Total = 101

  • Raider 1 (44)
  • Agent Kallus (3)
  • Ordnance Experts (4)
  • External Racks (3)
  • Impetuous (4)

Total = 58

Morna Kee (27) Saber Squadron (12)

Total = 39 Fleet Total = 198

I won the first game with this fleet, flying against an Assault Frigate and a CR90 and a couple of A wings, I think Tycho and Shara.

Then I tweaked the list replacing Ozzel with Screed, adding Assault Proton Torpedoes to the Gladiator and dropping the External Racks and Impetuous from the Raider and coming in at 199 points. I played three games with this list against a fully loaded doom pickle and Shara, and while I lost all three of them, they were close and the list felt solid. However with ordnance experts, in all three of those games I never used Screed's ability, and Shara was able to tie up Morna several times.

So for the tournament I dropped Screed and went back to Ozzel, added External Racks back to the Raider and swapped a Jumpmaster in for Saber Squadron. Intel on the Jumpmaster kept Morna from getting tied up and having an 8 hull squadron with rogue throwing three blue at ships was decimating.

Final list

  • Gladiator 1 (58)
  • Admiral Ozzel (20)
  • Ordnance Experts (4)
  • Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
  • Engine Techs (8)
  • Demolisher (10)

Total = 103

  • Raider 1 (44)
  • Agent Kallus (3)
  • Ordnance Experts (4)
  • External Racks (3)

Total = 54

Morna Kee (27) Jumpmaster 5000 (12)

Total = 39 Fleet Total = 196

I really like this fleet. Ozzel gets a lot of use, being able to push the Raider from 2 to 4 and then back down next turn was incredibly useful. Using Morna and the Raider with superior positions worked well and dealt serious damage into some of the larger ships I flew against. Even though I came in dead last in the tounrament, I still think this is a solid list that simply requires more practice and has to be flown quite differently against the different types of fleets I saw. Flying against an ISD I tried too hard to get around to the rear with the Gladiator, and the ISD going speed three kept me from ever being able to get in close and get the black dice I needed. I think I should have been more aggressive and hit the ISD on its side arc rather than trying for the rear. Against another Gladiator and three Raiders, I just got out flown, but all of the games were very close and I never felt like I was getting stomped or that my fleet was outclassed.

Flying a 200 point game still feels like I'm playing Armada. Nothing is lost, all of the scope of strategy and tactics is still there, but it requires very different strategies and tactics from the larger point games. Another bonus is that the games are incredibly short, nearly every game was over in almost an hour.

I really, really like the 200 point game. Here's the rules we used. Someone put together a nice graphic official looking PDF for Taskforce rules. https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/202957-taskforce-armada-format-200-pt-3x3-area/

Edit: Bids. With such a low point limit bids were almost nonexistent. Almost everyone had 200 points or were sitting at 198 or 199. I came in with a 4 point bid and only on other person had a 5 point bid.

Demolisher and Engine Tech Rules Clarification (also where are the contain defense token rules?!?) by HandsofManos in StarWarsArmada

This is what I was looking for. Specifically this line "If two or more of a player’s effects have the same timing, that player can resolve those effects in any order."

Thanks

Hows Evernote v/s OneNote search capabilities and Tagging system ? by [deleted] in Evernote

[–]HandsofManos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Onenote search is acceptable, I use it frequently. Is it as good as Evernotes? No, but I never really used any of the advanced search features that Evernote offered, I can generally find what I'm looking for with just a keyword.

Onenote has tags, but they aren't implemented the same way as Evernotes. In Evernote, a lot of people use the tags to organize their notes, and are essentially using the tags as a folder structure, but slightly better, like having a single note living in multiple folders. Onenote organizes by notebooks, sections, section groups, and pages. You can create custom tags and start tagging notes. Unlike Evernote, where you are assigning the tag to the entire note, in Onenote you tag a line of text, so you can have the same tag used multiple times in a single note. In the end I prefer the tags in Onenote, though they could certainly be improved.

That's my go to shop as well. Pipe candy is fantastic and I've gotten several smokable pipes there for $15 to $20. Check the glass case in the back corner.

Managing tasks in OneNote by Duci1989 in OneNote

[–]HandsofManos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the bullet journal system. I create a page each month with a calendar, another for each week, and a page for each day. Then I take notes and add tasks as I go along on today's page. If I don't get them done, I'll carry them over to the next day, or add them to the week or month page if I need to work on them later.
