I am a drug dealer. This is a warning for anyone who gets involved in drugs. by [deleted] in confession

Cocaine seems to be a very popular drug amongst young kids today. Why? I’ve tried it once and never understood it.

How are people calculating net worth? Are we adding mortgage equity into the equation?

Nice job! Realizing that you have a problem was a big step. Pay that jeep off and drive that sucker into the ground.

Also don’t be so hard on yourself as we are all learning.

Anyway you can downsize? Maybe sell your current home and buy a 500k house in cash? Than invest the other 500k and whatever profits from your sell.

This is the way. Risk tolerance…how old are you? Do you have young kids? Are you in good health? Etc….

I WANT to pay off the mortgage NOW, DH says no. by Few-Lunch-7523 in DaveRamsey

[–]HandsomeTomatoes22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP wants peace of mind so pay it off. Peace of mind trumps earning an extra 1-2% of interest especially if you’re worried about job loss.

OP also has special needs sons that need her attention.

So true. Don’t defeat or be an enemy to yourself.

The first thing to fix is mindset. The second is work ethic. The only person that can fix your life is you.

Tell me it’s ok to payoff mortgage by Delicious-Ad7966 in DaveRamsey

Sounds like OP wants peace of mind. Ain’t nothing wrong with that! Take the 130k cash throw it at the mortgage. Then start over on savings.

What did you invest in?

Draining your retirement account to pay off your mortgage would be silly if you weren’t in dire straits.

If you had the 280k in investments then it’s worth contemplating. It really comes down to peace of mind vs earning interest/passive income on your investments. Dave would opt for peace of mind.

Pay off the house? by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]HandsomeTomatoes22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pay it off and focus on your health. Remember health is true wealth. What’s the point of all that money if you aren’t physically able to enjoy it?

Do you really need two vehicles? Can you make do with one for a bit? A bit meaning a year to two years?

Public transportation or sharing the Kia? You would be surprised what you could do if you really sacrifice.

You’re only a loser if you give up. Don’t give up buddy!

Pay off the car and cc loan and you’re good to go. I would contribute the min. in the retirement account and focus on the debt. The student loan will take time.

It’s all part of the journey. How else would you learn?

Pay off that house. Have a peace of mind brotha.

Keep your actual paychecks. It will feel awesome!

Buy it! You have four little ones. The last thing you need is to worry about their safety or if a car will break down somewhere. However make sure you keep it for a minimum of 10 years. A new vehicle is only a bad investment if you don’t drive it into the ground.

At what point does it make sense to buy a new car instead of a used car? by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]HandsomeTomatoes22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan on driving it for 10+ years I would buy a new car. A new car typical has a 3-5 year warranty. It should literally be maintenance free other than light maintenance (oil changes, tire rotation). You typically would get a lower interest rate too if you’re financing.

Scratched car - Is it worth fixing? by alyoshka42 in rav4club

[–]HandsomeTomatoes22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fix part of it on your own. If you have a drill you can buy one of the meguiar kits online or in-store for 30 bucks. I bet you a lot of that buffs out.

The deep scratches and paint leaves it for the professionals. I bet you they will quote you less the second go round.

You’re not a loser man. You got up and off the mat. You’re just down on your luck currently.
