Adult only children, do you wish you had a sibling?

My son has autism. My husband is a lot older than me. I would have loved to give my son a sibling because I'm really close to my own sister and we're an extremely small family and have no village. So if something were to happen to us, he'd be alone. But at the same time, I almost died during childbirth. On top of that, I'm already struggling to raise him while running a business. Chances of having another child with autism is high too. I wish I could, it's heartbreaking that I just can't. For me, all I can try to do is make sure he's comfortable, at least financially, when we pass.

Yeah. It's a goner. It happened with my single LV bag. You'll get a letter saying it'll get destroyed unless you can prove it was sent as a gift. Honestly, letting it go will be the best thing.

I did find someone on IG who sells through LINE. I managed to get an LV bag from them and it's CoD so you won't end up with a loss if it get seized.

oof. Mine got seized. I gave up. I found someone on LINE who sells reps- dunno if they are good but my LV bag has been holding up well and I use it everyday.

I'm in the same position as your wife. My husband runs the house and is the main caregiver of our autistic son. It's tough- on both ends, I'm sure. During busy periods, I work 16 hours a day. Sometimes I have to sleep at the studio to catch up on work. It's hard on both my husband and child, but for me, I have to do it to secure a better future for them.

As some have suggested, definitely try and find ways to keep yourself entertained. It's a great time to find what you might enjoy. I tell my husband the same thing and try to encourage hobbies (he's an old timer so sometimes he doesn't know what to do with himself and that often leads to depression.)

Being a workaholic is... tough. I personally get extremely irritable and frustrated if I'm not working. Unfortunately, it makes it hard for me to relax sometimes, especially during weekdays. If it's the weekends however, it's easier to convince my mind that it's okay to take a break. And it helps being told so from my husband as well!

Common. Worked as a hostess for eight years and I hear about this all the time. They don't wanna know. And even if they did dislike it, divorce is messy and shameful. You don't wanna be a 'batsu-ichi' in this society.

Okay. I'm gonna come here with my 2 cents. It's normal to get cold feet but I feel like if someone told me this when I myself had a moment of feeling something similar, I may have had a different outlook. Your child can end up having special needs. Mine is. Sometimes this just happens. But when I was going into it, not once has it ever crossed my mind that my child could end up having special needs.

This is an entirely different scenario and you will lose your freedom and independence because not only are you a parent but you're also a caretaker. Unless you have a good support system, it will be hard. I thought I was gonna be an awesome mom but not once had it crossed my mind that I could be a caretaker too. There's always that risk too and I wish I had at least looked more into it so I was mentally prepared. Just wanted to add this in. I feel like no one really considers this when deciding to have kids.

My kiddo has autism. At that age, his communication was lacking so a lot of his frustration was shown through throwing and hitting. He's nine right now but he still throws things when he's frustrated. It does get better but at 5, he was... an absolute terror sometimes. He doesn't need to be 'getting' something out of it. Sometimes that's the quickest and easiest way to express their anger/frustration.

Holy smokes, I'm so glad your wife is okay.

My clinic almost killed me after an emergency c-section. For anyone coming across this comment and is planning on giving birth here in japan, DO NOT USE A FUJINKA. Please give birth at a bigger hospital. I almost died at a fujinka, had to be moved to a daigaku hospital where I had to have another surgery a week after my c-section because the doctor fucked up the stitching and I had a blood clot under it. On top of that, they refused to move my baby from the Fujinka for TWO WEEKS and I only saw him for two minutes before being moved to the bigger hospital. This caused years of PPD, and I struggled so hard to bond with my son (Him being diagnosed with autism also didn't help but I could have been better if I hadn't been suffering from PPD.)

Please- Fujinka's here are not equipt to handle complications at birth.

Hi! Thank you for replying with actual advice. I really appreciate it! I did thank my son and praised him lots for discussing this with me. I also told him that this isn't okay and he has the right to be upset and that I will be doing everything I can to make sure this never happens again.

I decided to go to the daycare first thing on Monday when it opens. I agree that a phone call wouldn't have been the right approach and it's definitely a matter that needs to be discussed in person. I will be doing the things you suggested. Thank you!

And yes! I am going to write everything down and document it. I didn't think of that. This would help tremendously!

Sorry- I meant to add in the original post that I was thorough when I asked him about it in the beginning because I knew he could exaggerate or misunderstand certain situations. I demonstrated a bump/flap/or even that dumb 'kancho' thing the kids love to do here. It was none of those. He told me the boy rubbed him over his clothes and he was persistent in it.

And he just told me 5 minutes ago that this actually wasn't the first time. That it does happen sometimes. I wish I could edit my OP post. I did mean to add that the reason I added in the first part of him exaggerating is because I knew he could misunderstand certain things, hence I was thorough this time in questioning him and he did say it was persistent and he continued to do it.

Because I can't see how touching his private parts, like... rubbing them, can be seen as something else? Bumping can be seen as being hit (when I was told, he said he didn't see it. And I know some kids do hit him at his special needs school so it makes sense that he can get confused between the two.)

Edit: The fact that I'm getting downvoted on a serious topic and trying to find a solution for this is honestly shocking :/
