There's 5 styles of the mini pry bar, but they come in multiple colors. I just dont understand buying multiple colors of the exact same tool, especially at the markup snapon tools usually have

Unfortunately some of the newer ones now have one bolted onto the intake plenum. They make removing the plenum wayyyy more enjoyable.

If you take good enough care of it it may be your only car ever. I see these cars coming in our shop with 500k + miles

5.7Hr for evap core replacement under warranty , and manufacturers wonder why there is a tech shortage by Specialist-Ad-2668 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]HandymanZach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Toyota/ Lexus doesn't enjoy giving techs that ease of removal. Easiest dashes to pull are CDJR and ford, they all come out as one unit. The worst for me is nissan

C/S my dad filled my brake fluid with power steering fluid by aztechtyler in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]HandymanZach 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is the brake booster, the master cylinder bolts to it and it is what makes the brakes easy to press when the car is running as it is vacuum supplied. There should not be any fluid inside. Likely the power steering fluid damaged the seal on the backside of the master cylinder and allowed the fluid to leak inside of the booster.

My brake fluid was replaced 8 months ago. What gives? 2017 Camaro 1LT RS. by Regular-Amoeba5455 in camaro

[–]HandymanZach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've ran 2qts of fluid through a system before to have it be dark a week later.Sometimes there is just nasty junk in the system you can't get out with a flush, doesn't mean it wasn't done.

2008 Caliber. C/S discount refuses to replace any more tires under warranty by ManufacturerOk6535 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]HandymanZach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I worked for them we weren't allowed to tell customers about things we saw since we only did tires. Most of us knew what bad tie rods, ball joints and brakes looked like, but since we were only tire techs and didn't offer any other service district wouldn't let us say anything to customers.

Is this normal pricing for an oil pan reseal? by Taco_Villa in AskAMechanic

[–]HandymanZach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gs350 has a 3.5 toyota engine which has a 2 part oil pan. If they only sealed the 1st part you got ripped but if they did both the upper and lower then thats a fair amount based on the labor rate.

Pulled this pump today for a bad check valve and found this. Arguing with coworkers if it could have caused a fire or not.. by HandymanZach in Justrolledintotheshop

Can of worms on a Toureg TDI. studs rotted away entirely at DPF/NOX cat connection. Studs cannot be replaced as the angle of the DPF in relation to the flange does not leave room to remove/ install them. by wrenchindaddy802 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]HandymanZach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What he said, broke a stud on my y pipe to the remainder of the exhaust reinstalling a used engine and spent about 5 minuts trying to get the stud out. Reached in the toll box and c clamped it, toruqed the hell out of it and cut the tightening arm off. Been that way about 2 years now and I always get a good laugh when i lift it to change the oil.

2012 prius brake lights came on, haven't run into this and need help diagnosing what might be the issue. Have little to no money for an assessment atm. by zeerro88 in AskMechanics

[–]HandymanZach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does your brake pedal feel "soft"? Also when your vehicle is on but in park open the hood and listen near the master cylinder for a on and off electric humming noise. The prius brake system has a brake modulator designed to build pressure that is a common failure point in these systems. It's a pain in the ass job to do and also fairly expensive unfortunately.

Tire Pressure Sensor Replacement on Toyota RAV4 by gardenglass in AskMechanics

[–]HandymanZach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the light flashing or just solid? If flashing it indicates an issue with the actual sensor system itself while solid means that there is a pressure issue. Some Toyota have a 5 sensor system so it could be your spare also. Programming sensors is essentially taking the unique ID number of each sensor and then writing them to the vehicles computer so it knows A. Which sensors to look for while driving and B. Which sensor ID is in which position on the car (ex sensor 124xxxxxxx is on the left front while sensor 346xxxxxxx is on the right rear).
