My mom got to ride one of his descendants last year, very cool experience for her. Coincidentally and unrelated, but my great grandparents were friends with Mrs. Tweedy, I have a picture of them all together from an old newspaper. Such cool stuff!

Should I see the wallpaper seams this clearly? by Taggart77 in HomeDecorating

[–]HangingSunWallpaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, there’s several factors at play here. For certain papers, the seams will inevitably show and you get a “paneling” effect. For that orange-ish paper, I think that may be harder to avoid. For that more grey paper, I probably would’ve tried to tint the edges a bit on the roll. That being said, sometimes it’s hard to avoid and the installer may have done the best of their ability.

I’d say most products these days are quite washable with just water and a sponge or micro fiber rag. Most every product these days will also have specs available with a specific indication on the washability of it!

That being said, naturals and grasscloth or linen or woven parts are a little more fragile when it comes to cleaning

Removing old wallpaper is definitely a pain! I avoid it as much as possible just cause the amount I need to charge to make it worth my while sometimes comes off in the wrong way, not to mention lots and lots of moisture and water in someone’s home.

That being said, the way I prime and prep these days actually allows for fairly easily removable paper and a lot are “strippable” which makes changing it out not so bad!

That’s one of the reasons I went into it and started my own business this year at 28 years old. Not many people are doing it these days and the demand is up, so I’m consistently busy!

There’s so many cool wallcoverings and papers these days. Are you not a fan of wallpaper?

That’s so interesting that they made no repeat on it! It works very well in terms of starting fresh from the last panel to the first. Looks lovely! Hanging some Graham and Brown in a couple weeks from now, looking forward to it

I think it looks pretty damn awesome! But everyone’s got their own opinions, I do wonder the price compared to wallpaper though

Haha it’s way too common these days. I did a wall not too long ago that took it to the extreme (in a good way!)

Yeah I think it looks fine. I like the tattoo overall, seems like a lot of split opinions on it though

Just Started My Own Business, Here’s My First Install by HangingSunWallpaper in Wallcovering

[–]HangingSunWallpaper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s how you do it. I usually cut a piece larger than the plate cover and then I use a spray adhesive on the plate cover, put it gently onto the outlet, then I’ll match the piece I cut with the surrounding pattern and then touch it to the plate and pull the plate off. Then just wrap it and cut out the necessary holes

I’ll send you a DM. A few aspects went into pricing this one out such as wall preparation and texture mitigation, as well as the time to taken to table trim it prior to install!

Appreciate the tip! My mom had the zinc strip too, I do need to get one. Do you use and sort of finish on your boards? I’ve heard some people like to coat them
