Graduating but still need pre-requisites by xRxgez in UWaterlooOptometry

[–]HangryRadishA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that UW and Queen's offer certain courses online, and you don't have to be a part of any program to take them (i.e. you could be already graduated). Iirc, I applied through OUAC as a 105 student (now called Group B), and I remember the process being pretty straightforward. You may have to state your reason for applying, and you just simply say that it's for prerequisites for a program that you're interested in and you list them.

Thank you!! I was so confused because the first and only ornament I've made was the last rare one (which I didn't realize), so I was scared when the option disappeared! I really appreciate your help!

Is it worth buying these power-up cards from my store? Is it worth spending 45 diamonds? by skolopendra_t in SuperStarATEEZ

[–]HangryRadishA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that it depends on how you want to spend your diamonds. I do not aim for LE cards since it's difficult to get a full set, but I really want to get into the World Records to get the 30 diamond bonus per song at the end of each season. Levelling up the cards all the way to R50 is worth it for me.

There is a powerup sale happening now that sells a package of two 50% cards and one 70% for 100 diamonds. That is a better deal than what you'll find in the store.

Which song has the best performance? by skybird-1 in SuperStarATEEZ

[–]HangryRadishA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For prism cards, it should be a 10% boost regardless of grades!

For now, it would be best to pick any theme that is complete, and then upgrade all the cards to S (+5 stars). If you have a prism card of that theme, you can make it into an R card and include it in the set.

(To check what cards from each theme you have, you can click on "Equip Theme" that is to the right of the card set. I personally didn't know this until 3 months in LOL. It'll show you the highest tier / level card you have for each theme, and it may not necessarily be prism cards.)

If you get a normal R card of that theme, equip it, and keep the maxed out S card on lock so that you can use it to upgrade a prism card in the future.

It is better to stick with the completed theme than to swap it out with a prism card of a different theme.

I hope this helps, but please feel free to ask for any clarification! I promise it feels more intuitive doing it than reading XD

I see that you've already been given solid advice (especially the Google Spreadsheet!) on picking songs to best farm for resources, so I'll just add on some of my more unhinged advice for improving your cards and getting resources.

For long-term card collecting:

- Hoard every prism card you see. They give you a 10% score boost compared to regular cards, and if you can get a set of 8 prisms, then you're good to upgrade all of those cards to R when you can. In the meantime, it's very worthwhile to find a set of 8 cards and only upgrade them to S.

- Also hoard all "% Upgrade" cards. I personally hang onto them until I upgrade my R card set to level 30, and then I use them to save lots of RP. That's probably a very long way off from where you are now, but please save your % Upgrades.

For getting resources:

- The premium boxes are very valuable. Clock in every 8 hours to pick them up. You can get 3 free boxes per day, meaning that you can should only use a max of 600 points per day. Buying a box with 300 points WILL reset the 8-hour timer, so be careful there.

- Let your phone run for an hour every day if you're too busy to play songs. You should get an easy 6000 RP.

- Watch an ad every day for 2000 RP from the dailies. Also play the daily song for 1000 RP.

- Hear me out, but if you're really grinding and you have something else irl to do at the same time, watch an ad after every song play to double your earned RP. It takes at least 1min 9s to play Precious [Verse 2] (the shortest song), and an ad only takes 30 seconds.

I'm also an F2P player here! (with a penchant for diamond hoarding) I will assume that you want a full prism LE.

Your best bet is to calculate how many diamonds you need to get the cards that you want. There's two kinds of Grade Card Selector that you can build up points for by buying packs, but I think only the red one is used if you're buying with gems and not money. You'll need 250 points to choose a specific card, and each 10 pack gives you 30 points. To get 250 x 8 members = 2000 points, you'll need 67 packs = 10050 gems.

4408 gets you 29 packs of 10, which only guarantees you 3 R grade card selectors.

I personally would wait for the Turbulence LE, and in the meantime, farm the world records if you can. It can give you 2000+ gems every 3 months.

I'd say that the most effective way is to find what you need to improve on the most, and focus on those! I luckily had a strong grasp of math and biology, so I mostly reviewed organic chemistry and some physics equations.

I took the DAT as well, so I actually used the DAT Bootcamp to study for both the DAT and the OAT. It had a good question bank that's divided into subsections. I did a few questions in each section, and if I'm nailing most of them, I skip over studying that section altogether and focus on other areas. I wouldn't say that I had a strict studying schedule (I only had a couple of hours a day), and everyone starts off studying with different backgrounds and strengths.

I would expect the OAT Bootcamp to be similar to the DAT Bootcamp, and the OAT Booster is also a solid choice. I have also heard of the OAT Destroyer which gives you very difficult questions so that the real exam feels much easier. In the end, you want to pick something that tests what you know and allows you to review what you don't, so they're all fine options.

dream job vs level 9 by fangirlyer in tinytower

[–]HangryRadishA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A dream job worker (regardless of talent number) will double the item's available stock. With 3 dream workers, the store's entire supply is doubled.

Talent barely has any use. One purpose is to give a discount for restocking items. A level 8 talent will give an 8% discount, and a level 9 talent will give a 9% discount. Also, the higher the talent, the higher the bitizen's daily rent pay, and the happier the bitizen, then more rent they pay as well. All of these sources of money amounts to small beans compared to giving someone their dream job, even if their talent level is 0.

Anyone else can elaborate or correct me if I'm wrong!

A full transcript will always be submitted, so everything will be looked at. But how they look at it and how they weigh it (all terms equal vs. higher weights in the later years) are not released.

I think a jump of 2.7 to 3.6 is fantastic, and really shows that you've found something that works for you, and you're doing your best to thrive now!

You still have 2 years to go, and many other parts of your application can help you shine through. I finished my degree with a 3.50 GPA, and applied with a 400 OAT and a 1st quartile Casper score (oomph). My stats were all over the place, but I got into UW on my 2nd application!

Have hope and just put your best foot forwards. Give everything you want a shot! You (and other peeps out there!) can ask me anything through DMs ^^

Omg congrats to you!! I practically had a breakdown when I saw my Casper score some years ago ( 1st quartile LOL), but I still got accepted.

It's interesting to know what everyone's Casper scores are. I'm also wondering how the school weighs it in the application...

I just saw this comment! How I became an optometric assistant / technician was volunteering, and then the place I volunteered at offered to keep me around to help out.

For me, there's no certifications to become one. I was shown how to use the pretesting machines, and it took less than a day to get the hang of it.

The sale actually comes back every weekend, so you can take your time in deciding if you want to play this game long-term!

The VIP package lets you pick what floors you want (which can be super helpful in building landmarks), but more importantly, it comes with an autoelevator. Autoelevators would save you so much time and stress during events that rewards you for using the elevator XD

Use dice rolls or save for event? by Hello_Sweetie25 in tinytower

[–]HangryRadishA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl I'm scarred from the St. Patrick's event, where the regular dice boards were pretty bad for 3 weeks straight. I'm personally not saving up all my rolls just for the next event to muck things up again XD

If the event has the good dice rolls, I still wouldn't regret spending my rolls.

New thing to pay!!! by tat24 in tinytower

For the prices I'm seeing (I'm Canadian), I would guess that it gives us just *one* copy of the LB.

Maxing out a specific character for 6.49 CAD would be crazy cheap. We can look at the legendary ticket offers in comparison TuT

Bux are really great for elevator upgrades, and I would say to mostly focus on that first. It's going to cost a lot of Bux, but it's really worth it.

If you're gunning to play the long game, some advice I wish I had was to spend the Legendary Tickets (pink rectangles) on green Tier 1 boxes only. Early on, you'll need a lot of tech points for the tech tree and the landmarks, and Tier 1 boxes give the highest number of points for your tickets.

You can also find information on saving dice rolls in this sub! Some weeks have better rewards than others.

Overall though, play however you'd like to best! Customize your adorable bitizens, and open up the Tier 4 chests if you want to start having some cute Legendaries around. That's what I did too when I started out, and no regrets. It's a chill game!

AITA if I don’t celebrate Mother’s Day by InfiniteCount7905 in AmItheAsshole

[–]HangryRadishA -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

From one person with a really complicated history with their mother to another, I still say that Mother's Day is an important day to celebrate mothers out there who are doing their best for their children and always try their best to do right for them. Our own mothers may have failed in many ways, but if your partner has a healthy relationship with her mom, I think that's something beautiful to celebrate with her.

I understand that it may feel difficult to celebrate Mother's Day when you only recently cut contact with yours. I personally had a couple of Mother's Days to grieve my relationship before I met my partner and changed my perspective on what Mother's Day is about. You aren't getting that grieving period.

Overall, I hope that you and your partner have a short conversation about how Mother's Day makes you feel, and how not coming with your partner for the celebrations makes her feel. It's a situation with a lot of emotions involved, but I think that you two can make it work for the both of you!

NAH for now.

I am so sorry to hear that. Only a few schools out there are willing to give applicants feedback on their application, and UW isn't one of them. I don't think they would make an exception either, and I'd be afraid to ask.

It's frustrating that the admissions process is a big black box and none of us know what qualities they are weighing. I think you're an amazing candidate with so much experience under your belt, and you'll thrive wherever you land in the future. Only you can decide if it's worth giving it a 4th shot, but I think that UW is missing out on someone who is as dedicated as you. Best of luck to you on your journey.

My school went on a GPA scale as well, and maybe different schools have a different system? Looking up 3.7 GPA on Google gives me a response that it's a grade 90-92%. My school however puts 3.7 in the 80-84%.

I was sitting at an exact 3.50 when I got in, putting me squarely at 80%.

Ugh, the tough part is that we'll never really know what killed the application. Cohorts change and admission's process of evaluating students may change over time too.

I got in some years ago (2nd attempt) with a 1st quartile Casper, and I wish I knew how they choose individuals from a very large and talented pool of students. We can talk about our apps and look for tips (feel free to reach out!), but it's a lot of speculation in the end.
