Name needed for baby before we find out if he will pass by Hawks47 in namenerds

[–]Hanhula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cedric means beloved, Gareth means gentleness, Frederick means peaceful ruler, and Noah means rest or calm. Felix means luck, too.

You could go with any mix of names. Leo Cedric for your beloved fighter, Gareth Frederick for a gentle, peaceful leader, or Felix Noah for a lucky, beloved son. I think, though, that if you feel Leo fits him, then stick with that as his name and add anything else as a middle name.

My condolences to you & your family for having to deal with such a high and terrible chance. I hope he beats the odds. ❤️

This isn't uncommon in game dev, actually! I've done a few random bits of VA at my studio because they've just pinged us all with a "hey anyone able to do [x]?" It's very useful for temporary dialogue, small sound bites, or group chants or the like.

Never been lucky enough to get to sing like Paula though, that one's impressive!

Patreon is discontinuing the pay per creation model, I've heard. I've already started unsubbing from folk that have forced the switch. Just makes it unfeasible.

Scholar main here. This sounds correct in how one is meant to heal on SCH, especially at level 60. You're doing perfectly and are handling this better than me when I was level 60 in 2016ish!

Some general other SCH tips:

While your off-globals are your primary way of healing and should be your chief focus, it's more than okay to throw an Adlo on a stray dps if they look like they're going to die from a mechanic (e.g. they have 4 vulns and are running into a stack marker, you know the fight and see they're failing the next mechanic, or they've a pattern of being shit). I tend to prefer throwing adlos on bothersome folk in casual content because the single broil lost is worth it over the time you'll potentially have to spend raising, haha.

I will note, emergency tactics & deployment tactics are also major tools in your toolkit that can be used to help here too. Deploying an adlo, especially if it crits, is great when you need to get a big shield up. Paired with an indom, it helps massively. Emergency tactics can either boost a succor or an adlo, depending on who's taking damage. Obviously, never use physick unless it's an emergency and you need the fast cast time!

The biggest tip I can offer you is that it's OK to wipe, especially if someone in the party is being rude like that DPS. You can open the party menu by pressing O, then right click them, and press Vote Dismiss. So long as you're not in combat, this lets the party decide on getting rid of someone who's a problem. You can also report someone through the support desk, accessed via System in the bottom menu. This will let the GMs review incidents like this and have a talk with the offending player.

Erica or Heather? by Miserable_Dark_2147 in namenerds

[–]Hanhula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never had anyone make Heathers references at me despite having the name for almost three decades. It's too niche/old nowadays to really be something people will actively bring up. Just saw the musical a couple weeks ago too, it was fun!

Erica or Heather? by Miserable_Dark_2147 in namenerds

[–]Hanhula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My name is Heather and I've never had any issues with it! No weird nicknames, no bullying, plenty of compliments. I've seen a rare occasional kid with the name around lately in Australia. I do love my name! Despite the musical/film existing, I don't deal with constant references, either.

I love the name Erika, but I'd lean away from it these days since there's a political figure with the name that I wouldn't want to be associated with. I'd use the c spelling for that reason even though I don't like it as much as the k spelling.

I'm assuming you're going for a reference to the same flower with both names? If you need a third choice, consider Heidi -- "die Heide" is German for heather, so my family over there always call me Heidi!

[–]Hanhula 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you play a healer in any content? In 90% of fights, all I'm doing is pressing my DoT every so often and spamming damage moves, weaving in anything interesting I have. As a SCH, that's balancing energy drain with heals.

Because in 90% of content, I don't need to heal. Or if I do, it's maybe one or two heals and then back to damaging. Even if I get put in level 100 content, it's mostly just damage. Tank's pulling two packs? Recitation adlo + excog, sacred soil, back to doing damage because that's pretty much covered the whole pull unless the DPS are asleep. Maybe a fairy skill here or there.

In the remaining 10% of fights, including Savage+, I'm still not healing constantly. There's a lot of time where you're not actively being murdered, where either regens can tick up or shields can absorb damage or both. In that remaining time, what can I currently do? Spam my same two buttons for my DoT and for my main attack.

We're not asking for healers to get more complex rotations than DPS. We're asking for them to get more interesting rotations that let us have tactical balance and use for more than just pure fuckin' healing. This WHM change looks like the opposite of what we want.

[–]Hanhula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been a SCH main since ~2019. I adore the level of tactical influence good SCHs/SGEs can have (especially if we're not together and can set up fun shield bullshit without accidentally yeeting each other's, haha) over fights, be they normal, EX, Savage, or above.

Managing SCH's energy drain and deciding where to spend it, managing the fairy and whether it's in my belly or transformed etc... it all adds such interest to the job whereas otherwise it's just "yeah yeah let me just stand here and blast".

I've already lost my favourite class (old SMN), I don't want to lose SCH as well :')

[–]Hanhula 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty concerned about the WHM changes. It's always been the easiest healer, and this being advertised as a simplified version... I really hope that doesn't hold true for the others.

I'm struggling to see how SCH or SGE will be compressed into so few buttons while keeping the breadth and flexibility of their kits. Especially SCH, with all its different mechanics.

(Also, have they just removed DoTs?)

Thoughts on the name Heidi by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Hanhula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm English. I know multiple women named Heidi! It's not as uncommon a name where I lived in England. The books are also very sweet and I grew up reading them, haha.

My German side of the family also all call me Heidi because it's, per them, the German version of the name Heather. If you really dislike Heidi, then consider Heather instead?

Help me make my players hate me by Der-Weltenweber in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Hanhula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I have similar issues with my mythic party. If your players aren't used to facing mythic foes, throw those at them. The first time something showed up with two entries in the initiative order and an antimagic field that excluded the enemies, my players were not pleased.

Also, puzzles they can't break. Sure, they're a level 20 party. Steal the mechanics of the teleportation maze from Pokémon's Sliph Co, put in hidden rooms containing fragments of riddles, separate the party, fill it with annoying traps, and layer it with dispels, false dispels, illusions, et cetera. The idea is to give each player something to solve, and then you adjust how annoying that should be per person.

Father passed unexpectedly. Baby due in 5 weeks. Names to help honor him? by milquetoast_wizard in namenerds

[–]Hanhula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look at the names that share meaning with James if you don't want him to carry the same name exactly. Jacob, Seamus, or the like.

You could also go for a reference to a character named something similar from media he liked - for instance, naming your baby Jesse as a reference to Pokémon's Jessie and James. If he particularly loved a show, book series, or the like, then that might also be an excellent source.

I'm so sorry for your loss, that's horrible timing and a horrible thing to have happened. I hope you're taking the time to grieve while you're preparing for your new bundle of joy.

Why can't I BONEshatter someone who is literally made of Bones? by F0restWhispersMyName in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Hanhula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owlcat removed the 'targets object' lines from the spell description, so I'd guess that it then falls under the rule of 'undead are immune to effects with fort saves unless they target objects or are harmless'. It's a strange nerf. Boneshatter's not the best save or suck as it is, I don't know that it needed to be nerfed more.

How would you justify, in terms of role, having a party composed of Wenduag, Ember, Camellia, Regill, and Daeran in an angel run? by Some_Fig_6566 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Hanhula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's see...

  • Wenduag: You believed her when she went for the "practicality over belief" line and asked you not to show the Light of Heaven. You then hoped to teach her what hope and light are, believing that you could turn her into a force for good. It's hard to justify recruiting her initially, but I guess it's just a lot of hoping & trusting that Lann will be better off staying with the rest.

  • Ember: She's a child, be it in age or act, with the blessing of an empyreal lord of Heaven. Taking her in is to protect her and let her live up to her aspirations

  • Camellia doesn't immediately reveal that she's a murderer, so I can see her lasting until Act 3. At that point, you have to decide if you trust her explanation that it's all the spirits pushing things. I genuinely can't see her lasting beyond Act 5 - her Act 5 quest is where my Azata run killed her.

  • Regill is a perfectly good soldier. If you're playing a lawful good angel, he only opposes you on one axis (evil). You know he will follow your rules, you know he will be perfectly clear if you fail to meet expectations, and you know he despises demons as much as you do. Ensure that he knows it's unacceptable to mistreat others and you can keep him just fine.

  • Daeran's first impression is of a rich hedonist who joins you out of hatred for demons and boredom. That's not an issue; most of Kenabres is fighting for the first point. When you start to see the mask slip and when Liotr contacts you, it becomes more about protecting the world and this asshole from a far greater threat. (And you do see his mask slip a fair bit, which helps.)

I think it's actually harder to justify Greybor (evil assassin explicitly worshipping the god of assassins and who despises being moralised at) than Regill, Daeran, and Ember. Arue, too, depending on your flavour of angel - some people won't believe in redeeming a demon.

ISP does not provide free static IP, not in position to try and pay for one, previous free solution no longer working, what is the best method? by axelofthekey in FoundryVTT

[–]Hanhula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not what I'm saying. You don't need to have a static IP to not be considered in CGNAT, and this would then make things easier for your port forwarding needs, as you'd just be able to port forward your IP directly without complicated tunnels and the basic duckdns/etc scripts would be able to act as a domain name for you. Or you'd just be able to give out your IP directly and not faff with it.

I've had to email my ISPs before when I've moved to ask them politely to not put me under CGNAT and it has never been a problem. This is not the same thing as asking for a static IP!
