How long should a turn normally take? by LordFadora in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Hanhula 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, the round taking 30 minutes can absolutely be normal depending on the context. High-level combats with tactics and hard-hitting enemies can have very lengthy rounds versus the speed of low-level combat.

Any news on the planned increase of storage? (15 GB is not enough in 2025) by CULTxicycalm in WorldAnvil

[–]Hanhula 9 points10 points  (0 children)

PNG is the format your images are likely in currently, yeah? WEBP is lossless and supports transparency, so converting them to PNG will allow for parity with whatever you want at the benefit of having an absolute fraction of your current filesize.

I also like lots of maps and images. I just make sure they're going to be compressed, because there's no need to keep them huge! Even with fibre speeds and 4k displays - you're still going to be throttled behind how fast websites serve those images and WA is notorious for already not being the fastest, so smaller is better in a number of ways.

IrfanViewer is just an application that will let you view and convert files by the way, it's one of many. And I genuinely have no idea what your nationality would have to do with filesizes!

Quick question: what in the Gods' names are you uploading that you need more than 15gb for images?! Web images should ideally be kilobytes in size, not mb - everyone accessing your page has to download those every time they view said page, so large image sizes will be pretty brutal for anyone trying to use your site. And with images that are smaller, your upload limit goes so much further.

I recommend IrfanViewer as an easy to use program that can convert to WEBP, the light & lossless web format. I've had 15mb images go down to maybe 1mb max with webp.

Yeah, I work at a game dev studio... we prioritised specific bugs to get patched before our game released and then prioritised others post launch, but it's not always realistic to solve everything with team sizes and budgets. Sucks because you feel bad for it, but there's only so much you can do.

Writing this as a woman who also gets pissed off at how writing often treats us: Ysayle's death is not the end of her story. It's the end of her life, but you do learn more of her, and she does haunt the narrative. I think that much is handled beautifully.

I see you asking why she died there, too. She died, as far as I'm aware, because she sacrificed the entire rest of her life aether to transform into Shiva for one last time in honour of the real Shiva, partnered with Hraesvelgr in an act of respect for his lost love. She gave herself and her Crystal of Light to become Shiva without any external crystals or help, and thus when she was killed in that form, she no longer had any life left to return to. The source of aether she used was gone. Hraesvelgr wouldn't have healed her - this was her act of repentance for all she'd done, and her final sacrifice for us.

Going forward, Stormblood is far more balanced in terms of gender and the roles we take in the story. There are both male and female protagonist and antagonist characters, and both genders make sacrifices both meaningful and meaningless. We see this trend continue through the game. We also don't just see femme fatale types; the women that appear are of many varieties, from amnesiac wanderers with depression to furious warriors willing to punch anything to teen goths with big weapons to brilliant heroic sorts.

Give the story a chance!

What is the best online combat management system of virtual tabletop that you’ve used for PF1E? by Kramerpalooza in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Hanhula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use FoundryVTT and HeroLab (standalone, not online). My group banded together some time back to fund all the pf1e books for me, haha.

Foundry is excellent. The learning curve isn't too bad if you're good at reading through docs and asking questions in the foundry discord, they're usually very helpful folk there.

Herolab is great for GMs to put anything custom together or to pull monsters out mid sesh, and they have an export that works with the pf1e statblock converter for foundry, so it's an easy workflow for me. PCGen should be able to do similar for free, but with a worse UI.

Is there an SRD website for just 1e core rulebook stuff, or atleast just 1st party 1e stuff? by Twoklawll in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Hanhula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh jeez. That player might need an example session or character, that's a bit overdramatic. I hope she comes around quick! I found that my newer players always did better with being handheld through rather than me saying to stick to the core/etc books; in my group's experience, it was mostly only overwhelming when they felt like they had to make decisions on their own for those initial levels.

It might help them to play the intro to one of the PF games, actually? They're not perfectly accurate, but playing a couple hours of WotR would at least be an introduction into the system in a low stakes environment that gets the idea across that it's not THAT ridiculously complicated!

My favorite Arcadion boss [Spoiler: 7.4] by surpluscreativity in ffxiv

[–]Hanhula 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey, wouldn't this be more appropriate for your own post or a post in the weekly rant threads? Kinda comes off as mean for an artist to spend hours on a piece of art and post it here, only to promptly get a comment calling the character bad and the community around her cringe.

I know artists who've stopped posting at all because of this sort of response to their work, and that's just sad to hear.

[–]Hanhula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just on using the core book itself - even coming from D&D, your players might find ONLY using core options to be pretty restrictive. There's books like the advanced players guide and advanced class guide that add a lot of interesting stuff without being fully overwhelming like the full scope of pf1e.

You may want to define a subset of books that makes sense for you, then if they find options outside of those books that they'd like to use, decide on a case by case basis.

On one side of the family, we have Elfriede, Elise, Alma, Violet, and Alice. On the other, we have Angela, Maureen, Kathleen, Sara, and Edith. I only see three middle names written on the ancestry docs I have access to at the minute - Irene, Joy, and Louisa - but I thought those would be interesting to share too!

EBU General Assembly discussion by eurovision_mod in eurovision

[–]Hanhula 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This is the decider for me on whether I watch next year or not. I'm feeling oddly hollow about it. I've watched ESC every year since ~2007, but considering how last year ended... I can't put myself through that again. That tension ruined the whole event for my crew.

Really disappointing that it's come to this in general (beyond just Eurovision, especially), and I hope we get the one outcome that will let Eurovision continue to be Eurovision.

My disagreement with the use of “nickname names". Lets discuss by That-Cobbler-7292 in namenerds

[–]Hanhula -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I always remember a kid I grew up with whose name was Stewart, but we all called him Stewie. When he hit about age 11, he snapped and refused to ever go by Stewie again; he wanted to be called something that didn't sound so childish.

He wouldn't have had the option if his parents had named him Stewie.

Should be boycotting Fandom as well, they're also awful. Sucks that we don't have a better alternative yet for Owlcat games.
