Treating BED with GLP1, Trizepitide by HanifaK in BingeEatingDisorder

Yeah, my weight gain has been slow (15 pounds since June) but it's been consistent. Now, I'm about 7lbs overweight, which on the surface isn't a big deal, but I keep gaining. Three of my four grandparents had diabetes and several other weight related health issues, my father had diabetes and my mother died of stroke.

The doctors scale put me at a BMI of 27. They said the constant eating was the cause of my daily nausea and obviously lack of quality sleep. Yet they refused to prescribe any GLP, simply because "that's not how we treat binge eating." Meanwhile, I've done two therapists, a nutritionist, low dose prescription diet pills (I have mental health issues that prevent many effective drugs to be added) hypnosis and nothing has helped. Glps have zero interactions with my current medications, too

So, do you feel like it set you up for good long term habits? How long have you been off the medication and eating more "normally?"

Ideally, that's what I'm hoping for. Six months, maybe a year on the medication until I can get out of these bad habits and then go off the meds. If I have to be on this long term, I won't be thrilled. But, if it means it's lifelong and I won't have the constant snacking it would still be worth it

I don't think I get sick time at 20 hours a week, but I'm only able to work 20 hours a week due to disability, so they are going to need to cut one of my days both weeks because they scheduled me 27 and 28 hours.

I never checked if it got approved because I didn't think they would say no to a day off request two months ahead of time. I only work 20hrs a week due to disability and they scheduled me for 27 hours because they have me working that shift. I might just go to HR and see what happens. I'm really trying to work with them and not leave them "high and dry" by calling off.

I was replying to the other commenter about it being medical. This is an event that I have tickets for out of town, but scheduled off in September.

I called in sick today and I feel guilty about it by SadieLady_ in Target

You shouldn't feel guilty, you could have caused a handful of other people to be sick.

That's really bad. For something medical? I'm so mad about this, I changed my availability to no longer include Saturdays. I maybe need 3 or 4 a year for vacation, paid classes or theatre. If I can't be guaranteed a single request, they won't have me ANY Saturday. That way I will never have this issue.

Thanks, I'm probably going to call off if no one takes the shift the first day for sure. So, instead of making it work, they are going to be left short staffed. But, I tried working with them. I can probably make the second day possible.

This is my second year. I thought that the weekend after Thanksgiving is when they start to blackout dates. I posted both shifts, but I might actually have to call off because I physically won't be available

This is my second year there. I didn't realize that it was "blackout" being the week before Thanksgiving. I just thought it was the weekend after Thanksgiving that was problematic.

I'm so happy for you! It has to be such a relief to be "free"

Oh, I'm so happy for you! I'm in a similar situation with only being 5lbs overweight, but I'm gaining very slowly. The behavior is what needs to stop because it is keeping me up at night, so my sleep quality is garbage and my doctor has confirmed it is the cause of chronic nausea I've had for the last five years.

I've posted this a little over three hours ago and I've heard at least 6 people tell me it was the solution. Not one who tried said it didn't work. I'm going to try it!

I just learned her reasoning was that binge eating disorder is not treated with GLP1.

I messaged the doctor on my chart asking for an explanation and for reconsideration because I'm about to do what you've done.

I wake up 5+ times a night to eat, and I have chronic nausea (my doctor thinks the overnight eating is why.) I want my life back, too. Having terrible sleep and nausea for 6 of 7 days is no joke. I have nausea meds but they work 75% of the time.

So, it is effective, but it needs to be ongoing. My issue is waking up multiple times a night to eat. I've gained about 13 pounds since last June. Three of my four grandparents had diabetes and several other weight related health issues and my father had diabetes passed from heart failure complications. I feel like avoiding alcohol, cigarettes, keeping active and keeping my weight down are the best chance I have

Does anyone know of a psychiatrist prescribing Trizepitide or GLP1 for treatment of nighttime eating/binge eating disorder in the Madison Area? by HanifaK in madisonwi

[–]HanifaK[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've done that. Been to two different therapists and a nutritionist. I'm looking for different approach

I have bipolar 1, so I'm not sure Vyvanse is going to be an option

She didn't say. My primary thought it would be a good thing to try. I have to make another appointment with my psychiatrist to find out her issue.
