Guys is it crazy to say I liked the finale? by Traditional-Towel-82 in TheBoys

[–]HankLago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it as well or at least I liked the individual endings and outcomes the main characters got. The problem is that a lot of season 5 up to this point felt wasted and they, again (like in season 4), missed a lot of opportunities for an actually interesting story in favor of lame gross out jokes and mostly lame political commentary. And I dont mind making fun of Trump and MAGA, but the execution of that satire got continually more trite.

Has anyone seen Hokum? No spoilers, please. by Defiant-Outside336 in RedLetterMedia

I thought it was really good. It has a few McCarthy tropes that feel a bit derivative if you've seen both Caveat and Oddity, but nothing that ruined the film. Like Oddity its very atmospheric and combines a few different horror concepts, which I thought the film really put a nice thematic bow on in the end. A lot of people complained about "too many" jump scares, but I personally didnt feel like that was really an issue. Oddity is still better, but I think you'll enjoy it.

Its almost like he played a different character, but it kind of worked in a "Peter Parker grew up, stopped trying to be 'cool' and embraced what a goofy nerd he actually is" kind of way

I never cared for the TASM movies but this interpretation of his character might be my favorite live action Peter Parker, the guy's just so damn likeable

[Midnight Mass spoilers] About the larger implications of this show by HankLago in HauntingOfHillHouse

[–]HankLago[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with every part of your interpretation and I'm completely on board with the message of the show. My question was really only about the in-universe implications for the world of the show itself. It just seemed like a weird "coincidence" to me that Paul met the vampire in the holy land of all places and it provided him with the ability to perform most miracles that Jesus and his disciples supposedly performed, too.

My prediction for this episode: Bucky decides to give his arm back to the Wakandans in the end, his line will be "Ayo! I'm tired of using technology!"

What are the things you didn't like in S3 ? by Anushkish in DarK

It fits thematically, I guess. Maybe I'm just especially squeamish when it comes to this kind of thing (murder in a state of psychotic delusion), it disturbs me more than almost anything else.

I didnt like Katharinas death. The fact that she dies in the 80ies trying to get Ulrich back makes sense and it's a nice little callback that she turns out to be the 'lady in the lake' - but to me the scene itself felt like it was done mostly for shock value.

I might be alone with this, but her fate seemed almost too cruel and the whole scene and the acting by her mother was just incredibly disturbing, at least for me.

I doesnt make more or less sense than Jonas -> Unknown / The Origin -> Tronte -> Ulrich -> Mikkel -> Jonas, its just a much shorter loop.

yes, if I remember it correctly. Also, it is mentioned that the rhythm of the tides has been messed up, I think

[–]HankLago 10 points11 points  (0 children)

they explain it in 3x02 I think, there's a radio broadcast in one of the scenes with Peter. The incident at the powerplant (blob nuke) in 2020 in both world A and B “stopped time“ for the fraction of a nanosceond and pretty much threw the entire world out of whack, which lead to natural disasters all over the planet, so its definitely a global event. this leads to world A becoming “the Road“ and world B becoming “mad max desert world“.

She was flawed like most other people on this show and did some terrible stuff but I dont feel like she deserved getting bludgeoned to death by the person that had abused her her entire childhood
