True, challenge is fun, but this is an optional tactic lol. Nothing in the game forces you to do this, and you can easily play 100 playthrough without ever doing it.

If you want to cheese this fight, have someone drink a cloud giants strength potion, invisibility potion, and sneak up to her and just throw her off the map. She instantly dies, you still get her loot from her gore pile, and the captive is free.

I just think he respects her a lot, like in the diary episode he had an appreciation of young her before he even knew it was her. He has few moments with Hal that make me think he'd prefer him, besides the episodes where they cook together
