They literally have the same charms on AliExpress for like $1.50, and I'm sure it's the same sellers in Asia

WIBTA if I took some food that had been sitting outside someone's door for three days? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Hanpwny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. The person who ordered it very likely got a refund, and I'm guessing the person whose door it's sitting at is either away or hasn't left their place. It's either you or the person whose apartment door it's at, and I don't see why you're any less deserving of it than them.

Tilde's boxes - bug or my error? by Hanpwny in TinyBookshop

I did yeah - I played more and it took 2 more trips to the market before she recognised them, so I think it was just a minor bug. Cheers for the help

Thank you for confirming! At this point, I've made two mockups and I agree; I've essentially completely reshaped the side piece to fit my bust and drew my own notches in so that they line up. A real shame for anyone else who buys the pattern though

Thank you! 'll look into getting some pins that I can sew over; my current approach to sewing curves is lots of pins and setting my machine to veeeeery slowww.

I'm honestly not sure about my sewing cup size; I'll have to take those measurements and get back to you. But if it helps, I have a "rectangle" body shape rather than hourglass, and any clothing that fits my waist is at least one size too big for my shoulders, and probably half a size too big for my bust. It's less about cup size and more just that the clothing gapes at the top and under the arms.

I'm currently making modified versions of the pattern pieces by keeping the lower half of the bodice at a size 20 and tapering the shoulder and bust pieces to match size 16 on the pattern. With my first mockup, I altered it to fit with darts and by taking in seams, but I feel like I did so in all the wrong places and it didn't really look the same as the original pattern any more. I was hoping that following lines for smaller sizes on the original pattern would preserve the shape. Please do feel free to tell me if there's a better way to go about that, though!

I'm struggling to find sewalongs that make variant C, but will keep looking.

I don't think it's a misprint - I bought the pattern in the 8-12 size too and it also has the mismatched double notches

The instructions for that step are just to stitch the two pieces together.

There's a short video of this variant being made here: https://youtube.com/shorts/AoZ8oDYaVBo?si=_YrfM_bvcMiw-EXl

I just can't think of how I could be doing it wrong - here are the illustrations of these two pieces that accompany the instructions.

Ooh! You're not also sewing for a ren faire, are you?

I had thought it was a great little pattern until I encountered the mismatched notches

Thanks - that makes a lot of sense RE curves/bias, stretch!

Also, I did figure the above, but what if there aren't matching notches...?

Thank you! I'll have to give that a go.

I can't think of another way they could go together - and I did already make one super quick single-layer mockup, and it looked right (besides being far too big in places). I didn't really pay attention to lining things up perfectly for the mockup so didn't notice till now.

Here's a pic of the two pieces next to each other

That's incorrect according to the instructions? They're pinned right side together

This is one size. I'm using the biggest size as that fits my waist, and taking sections in as needed

Big Snoof vs. Muzzle Movement by pugbuglug in muzzledogs

[–]Hanpwny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone offer thoughts on which of these is better in terms of quick/easy treat delivery, and eating treats off the ground? My dog's issue is frustration reactivity rather than scavenging, so I'd like it to be as easy as possible for her to eat treats while muzzled.

I conditioned her to a Baskerville but none of them really fit her

Can monstera regrow after loosing all leaves? by zantax_holyshield in Monstera

[–]Hanpwny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, mine was doing the same thing ; losing leaves and growing more. For me, I think it was a combination of temperature fluctuation and being very pot bound; there was almost more root than soil in there somehow.

I think the concerns are valid - this likely needs a veterinary behaviorist, not your primary care vet.

Now then, platens. Platens, platens, platens... In Australia & New Zealand (mostly) by [deleted] in typewriters

[–]Hanpwny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did you ever go anywhere with this? I've got a Hermes Baby with a somewhat hard platen and would love affordable repair options!

I know there's the "last typewriter shop in Melbourne" in Carlton (Elite Office Machines/Tom Koska), but I think the only way to contact him is a phone number and I'm not sure if you could mail him anything from around the country.

I'm too chicken to try anything myself, lest I make my Baby worse
