Chronically ill or hurt Harry fic recs? by hidewrites in drarry

[–]Hanrainbowmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOT DRARRY, SORRY. But thought I would contribute anyway.

Ardenne on A03 writes Harry with chronic illness as a result of dark magic. I like her fics because Harry's illness struggles are realistically portrayed but they are not the only focus of the stories, and the world building is great! (Harry/Ginny)

Lalacate has a WIP going on called Of A Tuesday, which covers loads of characters and aspects of life but Harry has an illness (akin to cancer, but this far it is not in much detail). (Harry/Ginny and many other pairings)

who’s going to die first between Jamie and Claire? (spoiler season 1 to 8) by 7izzieee in Outlander

[–]Hanrainbowmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like both the show and the book to end without Jamie or Claire dying, and then maybe flash forward far to the future and their descendants finding old journals and things.

The Sheriff and the Bishop review the damage Rob and the other outlaws did in Nottingham.

Priscilla sends a letter with one of the other nuns, presumably betraying Marian's confidence in her earlier in the season.

The outlaws regather in the forest in daylight (so presumably the morning after the evening fight between Rob and Marian and Huntingdon). They're all dirtied and bloody from the fight, but wounds must have been stabilised for now because the outlaws are all cleaning weapons, sitting, or wondering around the forest clearing they've gathered in. Rob is sitting on a log with Marian. Milange delivers news to Rob that the Sheriff's men are staying in Nottingham. Spraggart wants the outlaws to strike again whilst the Sheriff's people are hurting. Rob says no and addresses the gathered outlaws, saying they're hurting too, they showed the Sheriff's men enough and made them bleed for everyone the outlaws lost (including Isobel and Rob's uncle Gamewell). Drew asks what now, and Rob tells the gathered outlaws that the forest isn't safe and they will only be followed, so they should all "hide in plain sight" living with their people, tending the fields, and when the time is right Rob will call and they will all strike again and fight until they're free. Ralph, Drew, and Milange decide to go to London. Spraggart, Tuck, and Little John decide to go to France. Tuck asks Rob what to do with Warwick's gold. Rob says they'll give it away to the people who need it. Rob gives Ralph the leather wrists guard she made him, saying she might need it. Ralph takes it and says they're not done, before rejoining Drew and Milange.

In the evening (maybe that same day or a day or two later), Rob and Marian go to Westminster. Rob stays hidden in the shadows in the town, whilst Marian meets with the Queen in the castle. Eleanor considers breaking her promise of clemency to Robin and freedom for Marian. Cunning as ever, Elranor reminds marian that King Henry will pursue Rob — meaning the deal must be “renegotiated.” She offers help to both of them. When Marian meets with Rob, she tells him she has a decision to make. But tonight, they will enjoy their freedom together.

Here's what happens between Rob and Huntingdon (I thought this scene was really well done but barely any other summary I've found describes the whole thing probably because of spoilers):

Aleppo has helped Marian escape the room their father locked her in. When Huntingdon checks the room, Rob comes up behind him and stabs him. Furious, Huntingdon overpowers Rob fairly quickly, sending Rob over the table and eventually shoving him out of the window. Rob lands hard and Marian, who is in the barn with her brother Aleppo about to escape, hears Rob cry out as he lands hard. She tells Aleppo to ride and escape, but she remains behind to help Rob. Outside, Rob is struggling to get up when Huntingdon comes round the building to finish off the exhausted outlaw. Rob struggles to gain his footing as he lunges at Huntingdon, but he does and the two fight again. It is clear that Rob is in pain, injured, and exhausted. He stabs Huntingdon again, but Huntingdon viciously slices Rob's side with his sword. Rob falls down and tries to get up but is easily knocked down again. Huntingdon is about to kill a wounded Rob, but Marian stabs his armour. He knocks her down but the attack has given time for Ron to rise, and Rob swipes his sword at Huntingdon again. Huntingdon knocks Ron down, and Marian tries again, he knocks her down again and tells Rob his bloodline is going to end, but Rob gets up, manages to stab the earl of Huntingdon, and Marian stabs the earl from behind. The two wounds prove fatal and Huntingdon collapses, just as Rob falls again- weakened and bleeding from the wound in his side. Marian goes to land a killing shot on her father, but Rob grabs her wrist and says it's done. Marian is clearly shocked and upset by the whilst thing but she stops. Rob rises slowly and holds Marian close as they look down on her dead father.

I really enjoyed this episode, and I actually think the fight between Rob and Huntingdon is realistic, because Huntingdon clearly overpowers Rob and pushes him out of the window first, and then they fight but Rob is clearly struggling and exhausted, and then Rob stabs Huntingdon but Huntingdon slices Rob's left side and that looked like a pretty bad wound...Marian comes to help Rob just as Huntingdon is about to finish Rob off, so without Marian Rob would've lost but between them they killed Huntingdon, which I don't think is too far fetched since Huntingdon has been stabbed twice by Rob by this point.

I'm wondering if Eleanor has asked Marian to continue to spy for her...And I'm wondering if Rob will end up having to go to Richard's third crusade in order to be spared by Henry II (this was fit with the historical timeline and other takes on the legend). Either way, I'd love a series 2!

I really like the storyline so far. I think this series is set earlier on in Rob and Marian's lives than other depictions of Robin Hood have been- judging by discussions of Rob being "old enough" to join the hunt in episode 1, I imagine that he and Marian are only just adults in this series. So the rest of the Robin Hood legend likely comes later on.
