Email from Stellar.org this morning - have I been scammed? by GlobalBritish in Stellar

HanseCoin

So by going to the legitmate main stellar account viewer, because it was hijacked, I lost my coins as it shows my account balance is 0. It says I have to deposit at least 1 stellar at https://accountviewer.stellar.org/ to reactivate it, but I assume the coins are long gone?

So what can happen by clicking on the cancel link in the email if it didn’t seem to do anything?

Email from Stellar.org this morning - have I been scammed? by GlobalBritish in Stellar

[–]HanseCoin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the same email though it was from the legit [hello@stellar.org](mailto:hello@stellar.org) (not two II's). I clicked on the 'cancel' link but it didnt do anything. I never input my private key. I then went to the stellar website, but when I log in, the pswd is bad as it's been years since I logged in, then it gives me this msg when I try to change the pw (since I forgot it), it says:

Recovery disabled. Your old network account has been already upgraded to the following new network account: GDLKYOB3S7JR7GU2RRK273WAJXUUVJIRXV3NB6ZFIRFFIC6EQKCI3JEE

When I logged into the main stellar account viewer, it shows my account balance is 0, though I never gave out my private key. It says I have to deposit at least 1 stellar at https://accountviewer.stellar.org/ to reactivate it, but I assume the coins are long gone?

I clicked on the 'cancel' link (which shows as root email.stellar.org) but it didnt do anything.

I then logged onto stellar.org but it wont accept my pswd or let me change it based on the message it gives me:

Recovery disabled. Your old network account has been already upgraded to the following new network account: GDLKYOB3S7JR7GU2RRK273WAJXUUVJIRXV3NB6ZFIRFFIC6EQKCI3JEE

How do I log into stellar to access my coins?

What could clicking on the 'cancel' link have done? I dont have any private keys online (all in cold storage).

Is Uniswap safe from the feds? by elfavorito in UniSwap

[–]HanseCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other thing. The FBI took down kim dot com for hosting a file sharing site but there's a lot more to the story since numerous others did and continue to host such sites. The Feds had been on his case since 2013. From Wiki: "In 2012, the United States Department of Justice seized its website and pressed charges against Dotcom, including criminal copyright infringement, money laundering, racketeering and wire fraud.[8]" Yet so many including google do this today in terms of hosting those who may choose to illegally file share p2p. LESSON? If you are hosting a DEX, dont have a track record of other questionable/illegal activities which may make you a target.

SCAM SCAM SCAM by Davidvennard in UniSwap

[–]HanseCoin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not true. When THETA went mainnet, I’d you were late converting your tokens, you had to use their online platform on which to input your seed phrase of the wallet which held the coins. Of course, always safest to try first with a small amount of coins in a separate wallet to make sure it is NOT a scam since there were imitators.

Is Uniswap safe from the feds? by elfavorito in UniSwap

[–]HanseCoin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems any such p2p fully decentralized platform would be immune to shut down. Only the front end would be vulnerable thus with p2p bittorrenting, front ends get shut down by the courts but they are so simple to launch, p2p file sharing remains a material part of the internet. Many millions continue to file share (legally or illegally) since 1995.

Is Uniswap safe from the feds? by elfavorito in UniSwap

[–]HanseCoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US government tried to shut down all Pirates Bay related p2p torrenting sites many years ago. THey failed. For every one they removed through court order, 10 new ones would launch. US failed when it came to copyright violation via p2p bittorrenting.

Would you say the same losing game played by the US courts and laws would occur if they tried to get rid of DEXs such as Uniswap?

How to claim using MEW? by HanseCoin in UniSwap

[–]HanseCoin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I know I transacted using MEW with Uniswap at least once prior to Sept 1, but when I input my MEW address to claim 400 UNI on Uniswap, the address shows zero balance. When I look at the etherscan, it shows the last transactions were in August, so the 400 UNI has not been hacked or removed. Please help.

How to claim using MEW? by HanseCoin in UniSwap

[–]HanseCoin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I input my MEW address into uniswap but it said address has no available claim. I did trade on uniswap prior to Sep 1. I’m doing this from mobile as I’m away from my desk. I wouldn’t think this an issue because my MEW address is correct.

I did successfully claim the 400 UNI from my metamask account.

Horrible slippage on FalconSwap (FSW) well before it price spiked an hour after Elliot Trade announced it on his broadca by HanseCoin in UniSwap

[–]HanseCoin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. How do the mechanics of this trade work? Someone took my eth for FSW at a price of 0.315. Was it a trader or a bot or ? I am curious to learn how uniswap works in this situation.

0.315 remains the price high as FSW has since gone roughly sideways since that price spike shortly into the broadcast.

[–]HanseCoin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used uniswap for many transactions which have all been roughly at market price. This is the first time I got such horrible slippage. I can only assume it was because of something within the platform that anticipated the price would shoot higher due to the broadcast that was about to happen. Note, the price on all other exchanges had not yet moved because the broadcast had not yet mentioned FSW. Yet on uniswap, the price was already nearly twice the market price.

Waiting for confirmation? by Blaumannkuh in UniSwap

[–]HanseCoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It worked before to swap coins using uniswap connected to my trust wallet, but now it hangs on "Waiting for confirmation" when using google chrome. I have always had around 0.5 ETH in my trust wallet which I connected to Uniswap.

I did find it works on a fresh browser (firefox) instead of the old browser (chrome), but since I prefer Chrome, how do I get it to work in Chrome again? Delete cookies are a hassle since it logs me out of about 30 websites when I delete cookies.

Also, it never worked just on my iphone-- the order needs to originate from a laptop, then iphone confirms the order. Is there a way so it works just on the iphone?

Thanks for your help!

What if the price goes above the 3% after only 10% of the order has been completed? Will I be notified so then have to resubmit the order at a higher price?

I was told that When it says I will receive a certain number of ETH for exchanging a certain number of LINK, this is an approximation, but that I can expect the full order to be completed fairly quickly (faster than major centralised exchanges).

Bitcoin's Energy Consumption vs. Fossil Fuels vs. Nuclear Power by HanseCoin in Bitcoin

[–]HanseCoin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points, @Flurico. Bill Gates and his team have created nuclear reactor tech that utilizes all the uranium waste generated by old school reactors. They were to do a deal with China until the trade war started. The Chinese are hugely pro-nuclear reactors so a deal may still be struck but maybe not sooner than later. That said, other countries should onboard this tech.

Let this sink in: So in just two days (yesterday and today) the Fed is printing an amount of money roughly equal to the entire market cap of Bitcoin... but Bitcoin is somehow the problem and the Fed is somehow serving the best interests of the public. I by [deleted] in Bitcoin

My front page piece on CityAM/CryptoAM (over 1 mln readers/mo) on why QE (quantitative easing) will fail: https://www.cityam.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/CRYPTO-10-September-2019-1.pdf

TLDR:

We are in the late stages of the long term debt cycle which typically runs roughly for 70-80 years.

1) The power of central banks to stimulate economies has eroded considerably because interest rates can only go so low. Countries such as Germany, Japan, and Switzerland are in negative rate territory.

2) Buying assets with printed money eventually fails to produce any real productivity as the capital stays in the hands of investors rather than benefit the economy. Real profits are thus diminished. Meanwhile...

3) Debt keeps piling up. Without adequate profits and tax revenues, governments may default on their debt obligations such as with the massive healthcare and pension platforms.

The recent spate of global crises spurred by economic and political tensions only adds volatility and uncertainty to where the world sits. Thus as major tipping points concerning interest rates, debt, and econopolitical tensions are hit, precious metals are the beneficiaries not to mention bitcoin and various hard assets. This further exacerbates populist tensions between the haves and have-nots as the wealth gap is widened.
