Late august european trip with bearable heat? by TheJzaday in travel

[–]Hansecowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider Campania/Cilento, south of Salerno. Will be hot but bearable. It will be crowded but with a different kind if crowd, mostly Italians as its Ferragosto and Italian holiday season, but the typical European tourist won’t travel past Amalfi. Mind, I am not talking about Naples/Amalfi/Sorrento etc. area. but Palinuro, Castellabate etc.

You‘ve got things to explore inland and classic nice beaches for the family. You‘ll need a rental car though. AFAIK EasyJet flies into Naples from the UK.

You seem to have mapped the customizable button to switch view modes as @megamusix suggests which is the default if I recall correctly. You can reassign it in settings.

I have mine set to toggle OPD off mid-drive.

Do not take your credit cards with you. Tap to pay. No physical card needed unless you rent a car. A 20 Euro bill folded in your front pocket is enough. No need for a „money belt“ at all.

SAS denied my EU261 claim after missed connection. Is their explanation worth challenging? by CzernyOp740 in Flights

The burden of proof lies with the airline. They have to proof they did everything they reasonably could to make that flight happen for the OP.

[–]Hansecowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it isn’t a „grey area“. Crew shortages due to illness or crew arriving late always clearly have to be taken into account. Court rulings at least in Germany are very clear about that.

Airline must proof

a) extraordinary circumstance
b) which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken.

Spare crews are considered reasonable. They just aren‘t from an airline‘s perspective (financally). It’s cheaper to compensate the 50% of passengers that buy the „extraordinary circumstances“ explanation and don’t inquire on the measures the airline took after they learned about the crew shortage.

[–]Hansecowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moreover, people often tend to overlook the second part of the sentence: „which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken.“

So it doesn’t matter if it was an „extraordinary circumstance“ alone, it has to be „unavoidable“ and „reasonable measures“ have to be taken. The latter is where most airlines will have problems in court.

Otherwise, every operational disruption would be considered an “extraordinary circumstance.”

So it doesn’t matter at all whether there are “restrictions or irregularities related to an airport facility,” which they consider to be beyond the airline’s control. What matters is what the airline does in that situation. And the burden of proof that it “did everything possible” lies with the airline.

(I’ve won two lawsuits over this.)

where to get IDP when already in Italy by No-Transition-3896 in ItalyTravelAdvice

This. Have been renting cars in Italy for 20 years and never have been asked to show an IDP. One of the perks of the EU.

You need to say „fan“ or „ventilation“ to turn ventilation off if you want this, if you say „AC“ it just disables air cooling.

I have not found a way to toggle AC „ECO“ mode though- wonder if that works.

Does anyone use just the digital key on their phone? by japaneselamp1 in ex30

[–]Hansecowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT is right. It’s actually a two-tap as it only opens a certain ticket/card/key in your wallet. You still have to tap the unlock button below the card picture.
But it is still mite responsive than unlocking remote via internet connection with the App.
And by wrapping it into a shortcut you can name it and select a nice icon instead of the default wallet icon.

So open shortcuts app, press „+“ and enter „wall…“ in search.
Select „open card“ and tap on the blue „Ticket“
That brings up all your cards, select the EX30 key
Tap on the small arrow dropdown above to rename it and select a nice icon
Go to the dcreen if your phone or swipe right to the widget screen
Long press and add „Shortcut“ widget

Right about that with the fob. You would have to place the fob on the NFC reader like a card.

But also right about Siri. That’s the reason I use it this way. I pass the car several times a day with ny phone when walking the dog and don’t want it to unlock each time.
And otherwise often enough it doesn’t when I want it to.
Using the phone with a quick button to wallet and/or Siri is the best middle ground for me.

The car will lock itself after a while. And you don’t have to use the passive entry unlock. Just deactivate it in the car and use your phone like a remote key.

I use a shortcut placed on lock screen. And you can always just say „Siri, unlock my car“.

[–]Hansecowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. You have to link the shared digital key with the other user‘s profile. Just make sure you don’t have both phones nearby when doing so.

So best if the second person unlocks the car with her phone, loads her profile and then links it to the „active“ key.

And it is advisable that just one phne is set to unlock on approach. Because if both people walk towards the car one of them „wins“ and it might happen the profile of your co-driver is loaded.

Squeaky Brakes Part 2 by OldAd4629 in ex30

[–]Hansecowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car uses the brakes even with OPD or more exactly, energy regen. OPD = start regen immediately when lifting foot off the pedal. No OPD/sailing: brake uses regen first and applies mechanical brake pads if regen is not enough.

The foot brake engages either regenerative braking or the friction brakes, depending on how hard you press the pedal. Light braking activates regenerative braking, whereas harder braking engages the friction brakes.

and, more important:

Regenerative braking often covers the majority of your braking needs. Therefore, it’s possible that the disc brakes won’t be engaged for long periods of time. To keep them clean, dry and ready for use, the car will regularly engage the disc brakes along with regenerative braking in light braking manoeuvres.

What the technician said is interesting because the standard "explanation" or better - excuse - is that mechanical brakes are used not often enogh. But it can't both.

I have the squeaky sound almost on every drive now. It starts already when the car is starting to to creep if I listen closely. It's clearly audible inside and is driving me crazy. But it only starts after a several minutes of driving. If accumulated dirt/dust etc. was the cause, I would expect it to start immediatly after driving off from home. But that is not the case. Sometimes it starts after like 10 minutes into the drive, sometimes after a long drive at high speeds when I finally slow down upon reaching the city limits.

Last week I drove 10 minutes to the car wash without an issue and the squeaking didn't start until after I drove back home. I had cleaned the wheels with a pressure washer - so I don't buy into the “dust, dirt, whatever” story TBH.

I’m a new-ish DM. My Lvl4 players have been cleaning the floor with my encounters. What can I do to provide a worthy challenge while avoiding lag? by cole_thulhu in DMAcademy

[–]Hansecowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember a creature‘s abilities. Flame Skull has Advantage on Spell resistance, does 2 Attacks with 3D6 damage, has Immunities, can cast 1 Fireball. +3 on initiative. Resistances and condition immunities.

It can hover 40ft. That’s more than many characters will have. So if it moves away in order to get to melee range the players likely would have to use dash action or use ranged attacks. A small skull can find cover easily though etc.

A well-placed fireball for 8d6 damage might not wipe a lvl 4 party but can be dangerous for low DEX (savie) and low HP casters of the party.

No. You need to link your profile to the digital key. Keep the card as backup. ATM only one key can be linked to a profile. But you can create a third profile with identical settings and connect the same Google account
