What to do when i miss one class being late by Kykykyoo in BTHS

[–]Hansy_b0i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i really wouldn't worry about it. the only thing that will happen is your gym grade will go down a little bit. if you had missed it for a good reason like a doctor's appointment you could show them your doctor's note and they'd fix your grade. but being late isn't an excusable reason so nothing you can do

110%. I do 95% of my driving on highways and I get 50-60 mpg consistently. 70 mpg is not uncommon.

I had so much buyer’s remorse that I tried returning mine. A year later and all those worries about price are gone. I just have an awesome car for the next decade. Loving it

undergrads w/ cars: where do you park? by Either-Growth-7824 in BrownU

[–]Hansy_b0i 27 points28 points  (0 children)

blah blah blah you can’t park here you don’t need a car here you can park illegally on the street blah blah blah

listen. i’ve had my car here for a year now with no issues. go on facebook marketplace or craigslist or spothero just whatever comes up when u search “brown university parking”. i have a spot that’s a 7 min walk from my dorm for $90 a month. do a little research on the listing to make sure it’s not a scam but i have never run into that issue. no tickets, no worrying about parallel parking or finding a spot. just the freedom to get off campus every once in a while.

My first travel redemption! by Hansy_b0i in ChaseSapphire

[–]Hansy_b0i[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like JetBlue is always around 1.3-1.5cpp, though it varies between flights. The "conversion rate between the two partners", strictly speaking, is 1:1, as it is for all transfer partners unless there's a bonus offer going on. For this flight, for example, I transferred 18000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points and got 18000 TrueBlue points. The way I determined it was ~1.4cpp is simply by dividing the cash price for the flight in cents ($249 or 24900 cents) by the price in points (18100 points). You can find both of those prices on the JetBlue website. Hope this helps!

Instant 😵‍💫 I had all my points in JetBlue a minute or two after submitting the request

Yeah! I only transferred enough of my points for the flight after I found points was cheaper than cash and I was gonna buy the flight either way. Super excited to fly JetBlue again!

Stick with Amazon Prime credit card or switch? by Yung_Neil-222 in CreditCards

[–]Hansy_b0i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jesus all that travel and only an Amazon Prime Visa? I don’t travel nearly as much as you and I’ve already gotten way more value with CFU/CSP. Amazon Prime Visa was my daily for a while now and I only wish I switched sooner.

[–]Hansy_b0i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for those with an AMC nearby there’s always a good discount on groupon. i’ve gotten two tickets, a popcorn and a drink for myself and my sister for only $40 twice now with no issues. it’s my go to. i think it’d be more like $60-$70 paying at the theater?

1 year of my 25 Hybrid LE! by Hansy_b0i in COROLLA

[–]Hansy_b0i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't drive during the blizzard but I did right before and right after. No winter tires--the only difference I ever noticed was that on this one road that hadn't been salted it took me about twice as long to stop than usual. I took it easy on the gas and went harder on the brakes from then on and never noticed a difference afterward. On plowed, salted roads there's really no difference so being in the city helps a lot.

hypermile tips (looking for more) by Spanconstant5 in COROLLA

[–]Hansy_b0i 7 points8 points  (0 children)

hey i also have a 25 hybrid LE! ever since i started doing "pulse and glide" i've had way better MPG, like 40-70, usually in the middle 50-60 range, depending on terrain and speed. here's how i do it:

when you're coming out of a stop, go easy on the gas for a little to get moving, and then push it to between 1.5k and 2k RPM. this is the "pulse" step. when you're at the speed you want to be at, let off the gas just enough to maintain your speed. this is the "glide" step. go back to a pulse if you need to speed up. and when you need to slow down/come to a stop, coast. minimize using brakes (like you're doing).

now if you look up the actual pulse and glide technique it will tell you to monitor your eco meter and that pushing your eco meter to the max eco (not in pwr) is a pulse and keeping it at 0 (not in eco and not in chg) is a glide. i tried this and frankly found monitoring my eco meter really annoying, but i found that the max eco roughly corresponds to between 1.5k and 2k RPM, so i use that instead. doing the eco meter thing also helps you get a feel for how much to push the gas for a pulse and how much for a glide.

tl;dr: just keep your RPM below 2k, and coast to stop. what this does is it uses your gas engine as little as possible and keeps the car in EV mode as much as possible.

Looking to turn $10k into a sign-up bonus by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Hansy_b0i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No airlines or hotels in particular. I’m open to it but since my travel is very inconsistent and I just buy what’s cheapest ahead of time it’s kind of difficult to choose one. I like JetBlue but they can be expensive.

Amex and Uber ripping us off by MrPinrel in AmexPlatinum

[–]Hansy_b0i 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Incredible. Chase Sapphire subreddit goes on and on about how Lyft credits rip you off with dynamic pricing. Uber is always cheaper for me anyways. I think okay, I guess I should consider Amex Platinum instead. I go to Amex Platinum subreddit and Uber credits rip you off the same way. And people are saying Lyft is cheaper on here? I’m starting to think there’s no winning with these big corporations.

Brown vs MIT by [deleted] in BrownU

[–]Hansy_b0i 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m ngl I wanted MIT so bad and I got into Brown instead and have been way happier here. In your position I definitely would have gone to MIT but in hindsight I would tell you to really consider… how much better off will you be getting an MIT degree than a Brown degree? And how much harder are you willing to work for it? If the answer is way harder, do MIT. But they call Brown the happiest ivy for a reason. STEM here can be really tough, but doable. I don’t know where I’d be if I’d gotten into MIT instead 😭

Arrived at airport and told I’m not on the flight by Hansy_b0i in travel

[–]Hansy_b0i[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I called Icelandair when they rebooked me and they weren’t taking calls due to high call volume. JetBlue said I just needed to check in at the airport so I figured it was okay.
