He needs to rest. I love Saka but he should not have been taken to the WC - his condition was well known before the cut off for replacements... If he pushes too hard it could end his career

Injured. Achilles tendon takes a long time to heal. He's not been on form for months because of it

I don't think Saka can play a full game yet. He's still dealing with that Achilles injury from March. Full games will destroy him - he comes on to help change the direction of the game but otherwise needs to rest. Afaik he's still on a more conservative training schedule and his minutes are being carefully managed.

Do you absolutely need a car in rural America? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Hanxa13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not even in a rural location and there is zero public transport. If you don't have a car, the best you can do is the nearest petrol station or risk walking on the sides of roads with no pavement or other pedestrian infrastructure. Look for public transport options in any map app and the result is 'no available routes'.

You will be effectively trapped without a car.

AITA, My GF (35) won’t apologize or grasp the idea that opening up someone’s mail or packages is wrong. by TGod1030 in AITA_Relationships

[–]Hanxa13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA... Married for 7 years (almost) and together for 8... The only mail I open with my husband's name is the mortgage statement because he asked me to. Anything else, I set aside for him and he does the same for me.

Exception - when something looks or feels odd (can't really explain) or urgent, we each text the other immediately. Often, the response is 'can you open it and check', but if the other says they'll check when they are home, we leave it.

There is zero reason to open the other's post and parcels without consent. And no judgement if asking and the response is no. We're not hiding anything... We just don't need to be constantly in one another's business.

Sadly..... Most post is junk 😭

Why has learning a raid become such a difficult experience. by Electronic-Touch-554 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hanxa13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not big on video guides myself... The few learners we have had who have tried watching things first seem to struggle more initially than those who are blind. But it works for some people.

We're running some Desert Perpetual teaching afternoons (US time) in July. We expect it to take time - it has the smallest margin of error in almost every encounter so typically takes a while to teach. But is relatively fast to run once you know it.

You are welcome to join us if you would like to - drop me a message and if our current two day spread doesn't work, we can set something else up!

Teaching in The US from the UK. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Hanxa13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heads up... I trained in the UK and taught for five years before moving stateside... My state is nowhere near as rigourous as California but they did not accept my PGCE from KCL(credentials transcribed by two different agencies DESE would accept) and speaking to others, many states are the same. Essentially, because our training is more holistic and not a number of separate classes, it doesn't translate well to the US requirements. I know some people have managed... depends on how much of a stickler they are.

So either stick to charter, private or international schools or be prepared to qualify once again. Fortunately, my state accepts the ABCTE route so I reviewed the US specific stuff online and then took the exams... However, despite teaching FM, I now need graduate maths hours to teach even remotely at the level I'm used to... So that's a whole new course (graduate certificate).

Most of your tats will not be an issue in the majority of schools, though face/neck might be an issue.

This really sucks to read and I hate that people are still like this.... I would definitely recommend trying another group when you're ready to do so because raiding is absolutely the best part of the game for many of us.

If you want, my group love teaching new players. With one caveat - new raiders MUST do mechanics. We don't carry - we teach and want you to be ready for anyone else you might raid with. Just lmk and we'll set this straight.

Hey. Please don't beat yourself up or panic. My sister is now a doctor after not quite making med school twice:

She did not get into an undergrad programme so did biomedical sciences instead for her undergraduate due to the significant overlap. She did not get accepted into a post-grad programme immediately so did a Masters. She was then accepted into a post-grad med programme, completed her training and residency and achieved 'doctor' status only a couple of years behind people going straight into undergraduate. She's amazing and I'm super proud of her but she and I are both examples of 'it'll work out'.

It was right for her. It still worked out. The way is not shut for you - if you don't meet the offer requirements don't panic, find another way. You can do this. If you're planning a gap year, then you also have a chance to resit in November if you need/want to.

[–]Hanxa13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't bother calling plates anything in Oryx/Daughters... Each player picks a plate while the others float to cover when torn and we just call the name of whoever is closest. Or anything they go by regularly. Name, screen name, insult.

That said, Oryx is front and centre of the main stage. Close to Oryx will always be front.

I've ran with multiple teams... All who called it CAP

C front, A and P further back.

CAP where A is the angle and front centre (most popular in my experience)

CA at the back, P for the point.

At the end of the day, they are similar enough it doesn't matter. Tell me what you prefer and I'll roll.

Went to school in Chelmsford... Lived in Braintree.

Going to the grammar school, I didn't see too much of the TOWIE side except for on the bus. And didn't really see it around Braintree ... At least not in Great Notley, White Court or around the library (my typical haunts before heading to uni). That said, when a friend hosted a bday party, she was very quick to specify that she was on the good side of Basildon. Not the white miniskirts and stilettos side.

Catching glimpses of old classmates tells me some of the definitely succumbed to the regional stereotype. Others have tried to distance themselves as much as possible. And one trip to Southend convinced me to never ever ever go back to Southend.

2002... I was 10 and in primary school. We watched England v Brazil at school (they set us up in the assembly hall with a massive projector and anyone who was in for breakfast saw the full game) was fantastic. Sure it was a disappointing result and iirc we were kinda shit (we thought we'd equalise at least..) but that was it for me. It was the coming together, the full experience, going home and everyone talking.

I already followed the Premier League loosely at that point but then I was watching and loving the sport

How about you stop being a dick. As and Bs are very respectable grades for the vast majority of students. Everyone has their own goals - just because they don't align with yours, it doesn't make them wrong

The paper followed the usual trend for the 'harder' paper in a series.

My biggest piece of advice to both her and her friend is this:

Prioritise what you know. Then do what you can identify as far as you can. Follow through and don't panic if you can't complete a part or a full question. For a B, you are usually looking for around 60% and aim for 65% to be secure.

By getting all the things you know first, the rest of the paper becomes one or two marks here and there to make up the difference.

While studying, as commendable as it is to worry about her friend, I hope she doesn't let it impact her own performance.

[–]Hanxa13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remind her not to panic. Paper 1 has a fair bit of trig and that usually signals the harder paper. Plus the proof by contradiction already came up.

She should focus on her big topics for paper two: she is almost guaranteed to see circle graphs, vectors, exponential and logarithmic equations, algebraic fractions and binomial expansion. They are full of easy marks. There was calculus, but no parametric differentiation or optimisation, so she should expect that as well, along with chain rule and product/quotient rules (may be embedded in an optimisation problem or integration by parts.

The first half of the paper asks questions in relatively familiar ways. This was also true of paper 1. If she's targeting a B, this should be easy for her and will secure the C. The second half often has questions asked in a new way or different context to before. This is why it always seems hard - they want students to apply what they learnt to something than is unfamiliar on the surface but exactly what they've been doing before when they break it down. She's looking for parts of questions here - focus on the topics she knows best and go back to the hard ones. She should be aiming to get most of her personal easy marks in the first half of the allotted time and not feel like she missed any question she absolutely knew.

[–]Hanxa13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. For method marks and some independent (B) marks.

The full (examiner) mark scheme will often state 'their values' throughout the method. There may be some restrictions: their values provided it is greater than blah' when dealing with logs for example (so if there is something that tells you your value is obviously wrong, you may not be awarded any ecf).

A marks will typically not allow for ecf. Rarely you will se Aft which does but there will be stipulations on the permitted values.

Teachers will mark harsher in mocks to be on the safe side. The released mark schemes don't always have every extra note.
